I just did a clean install with 186.91. No improvement over 186.81, benchmark still crashes to desktop. If you find your games do in fact crash on these drivers please do share as I've actually had Dell point to the people on this forum who have 'fixed it' as a reason to do nothing.

Ok, just tested all my games today. Everything but Ruse Beta crashes on 186.91 . And I really thought I found a solution.. who are we kidding.. The only improvement is the idle temp. Games are unplayable.. GTA4 crashed 1 min into the game.

I've never gotten BSOD thought.. I think driver error that I'm getting just crashes back to desktop in Vista 32 to prevent BSOD.

Couple weeks ago I called alienware to ask about my issue, and I was recommended to change my CPU and GPU fans. So I went online and ordered same exact ones. After installing new fans, I haven't noticed any change in temperatures or game performance. Every game still crashes.

So, I did a fresh install on my computer. Formatted my drive and followed Alienware area-51 m15x driver installation guide for Windows Vista. I did everything step by step, restarting computer after each driver. I'm currently on original Alienware drivers.

Installed steam a few hours ago, and downloaded GTA4 and MW2. Both games crash couple minutes into the game, giving me same error. (Driver crashing and recovering)

At this point I think the issue is crappy Video Card. Don't know what's next. Considering baking it in the oven, lol

You put in a crazy amount of effort to fix this, it really makes me physically sick thinking about dell's customer service. Anyway, I gave up and bought a Sager.

I have this exact same problem, and after completely reading this topic, I have concluded that this Alienware Area 51 m15x is the worse buy ever. It is the worse purchase I have ever made. The case squeaks, the hinge broke, and I had to have a specialist fix that for 100$ (he did a good job by the way), and the Alienware technical support, even before they were bought out by DELL, is a piece of . They basically tell you go yourself and make a mockery out of you for getting ripped off in buying their shiny expensive junk.

For god's sake. If there's anyone I can save with this post. Never, ever give these sick people your business! In the end, if something goes wrong (as it did with the m15x notebooks), you will get ed, and that's the end of that.

I'm going to try to use this piece of until it dies. If I were shopping for a notebook right now though, I'd recommend the ASUS g53. Its not out yet, but should be coming out fairly soon. Probably around September. My brother works for Asus now and I got to try one out, and they're pretty slick. The price tag is a lot different too, and likely for better customer service too. Let's just say Alienware isn't hard to beat.

You hit the nail on the head man... ANY of you out here thinking of buying Alienware. STOP! it is the worst piece of hardware I have ever bought. THe suport, is horribble and the product is crap. I am on my third replacement unit, and I have been 6 months inthe last two years without a laptop while it was in their shops for warranty repair.

The fact that they have wiped their hands of the older models and couldnt give a rats if we have an up to date working driver for gaming proves they dont give a rats about their customers who are gamers for the most part.

I have a small ASUS for when I am travelling light. it is in every way , except for the graphics card, superior to this piece fo crap and it cost 1/4 of the price. The only thing it wont do is change colors... big deal.
