I recently bought a new motherboard to replace my bricked m17x. But i accidentally chose dell m17x r1 when installing command center and now i can't control the lights.

I want to use this guide to reset the alienfx bios but the links don't work anymore for the rom or the command center i can't find 1.28 sp1 anywhere on the internet to use the bios from that.

    1) Rename C:\Program Files\Alienware\Command Center\FW3410_00010035.ROM to .TXT
    2) Download the old firmware from Here
    3) Place it to C:\Program Files\Alienware\Command Center\FW3410_00010022.ROM
    4) Open up command prompt and change directory to "C:\Program Files\Alienware\Command Center\"
    5) Type "AlienwareAlienFXTester.exe /factory"
    6) This will downgrade your AlienFX firmware to the old version, and now the problem should be resolved.

Does anyone have the 00010022 Rom or the 1.28 sp1 command center so i can downgrade my bios to get the lights working again.

    Many Thanks in advance, Dom

I wish I had a better answer for you but have you tried the command center installers bundled with the m15x driver packages that people (myself included) have uploaded to this forum? If you want them just search and you will find the links. Also have you tried re-installing windows?

Re-installing Windows will not help at all, trust me...I did the same thing a while back with mine, took me several installations of Win7 and various driver downloads before I found the correct installation order to get lit up again. There used to be a great Legacy Alienware help page that had all of the info and downloads, but it went down last year unfortunately. With any luck I still have the folder I put together with all files and directions so I can help out. At the very least I can tell you right now that I found all information I needed through searches on this forum.

Hi, Thanks for the replies guys. I have tried all links on this forum, they all seem to be dead, due to the age of the links or sites that are now shut down.

The windows is a fresh install as well.

I would appreciate any links to files you can find. or if you have current command centers installed the rom can be found in C:\Program Files\Alienware\Command Center\

    Many Thanks

I KNOW my links are still good so you could not have tried them ALL. Search through my past posts bud.

You specifically asked for M15x-M17x-CommandCenter-1033(x64).exe and that's exactly what i uploaded.
I actually have no clue what rom version it has though, sorry.

I finally came across the backup folder that I had used to restore functionality. The following is a list of all files used:

    AlienFx_KB_Fix
    ATK_Driver_win7_Vista_x64_1043.2.15.66
    ATK_Hotkey_win7_Vista_x64_1.0.0034
    Disable_FA_x64
    eSata_Win7_Vista_x64_1.17.17.00
    IT_Infrared_win7_Vista_x64_5.0.1.2
    m15x_CommandCenter_Win7_x64_2010
    M15x-M17x-CommandCenter-1033(x64)

    m17x_audio_Win7_x64_driver_R235
    m17x_Intel_chipset_Win7_x64_driver_1.1.26.0
    m17x_media_card_reader_vista_7_x64_driver_3.52.02
    m17x_RAID_Tool_Vista_7.8.0.1012
    m17x_Touchpad_Win7_x64_13.2.9.0
    m17x_TPM_Vista_3.0.1
    m17x_Turbo_memory_Win7_x64_driver_1.10.0.1012
    TVTuner_A312_win7_Vista_x64_1.6.64.82
    Video_Card_win7_Vista_x64_176.10
    Webcam_FA_x64

I haven't located the text file that detailed the installation order, but I found that information right here on the forum, probably from someone who has already posted in this thread. Let me know if you can't find these files on Google and I'll see what I can do about uploading them somewhere.
Try using just the bolded m15x/m17x Command Center file first. I only used both of them due to an error after the first load of the m17x command center.

Just dug this laptop out to finally get round to fixing it, thanks for all the help guys. I got the files i need but when i run run the command to reflash the rom it pops up on the screen really quick and doesn't do anything.

Anyone have any ideas to get the rom to flash?
