I have two 500gb HD's that I am trying to setup in raid on the M17. One is a western digital, the other is a seagate. I enabled raid in the bios, i then setup the array with the utility. Once I go to install windows onto the drives, it gets all the way to the end of the install and then I get a error that it can't install to the hard disks. Is this because the two disks are not the same? I always thought it didn't matter if the drives were identical.

it should not screw up but it's strongly recommended that you use two identical drives also use a cheap ssd instead of a raid array

I got it to work, for those that run into a similar problem, the solution was to download the updated Intel raid driver and load it in before the install.
