    Replacing CMOS battery

    Anyone know how to access the cmos battery on a m17x area51?
    I've pretty much opened it all apart but it seems the battery is located undet the touchpad and i'm not sure how to remove the plastic cover...

    are you sure the cover needs to be removed? most of the time the battery will lift out at one end and then flip forwards to remove and replace the battery.

    Generally speaking that is - not necessarily in this case mind.
    Just a thought

    I've tried everything. I can see the battery if I remove the keyboard but it's partially under the touchpad cover. I was about to break the battery socket trying to pry it out.

    I have this model laptop and yes it is under the touch pad turn the laptop over and undo the bottom screws and there is some from the top corners you can buy the battery off ebay
