I have this old Alienware Area 51 M15x and the screen has started to turn white. It appears the case around the screen is now loose. When I apply pressure to the case around it the screen fixes itself temporarily. Is that a fixable problem? If so, is it cheap to fix?

Well first thing I would do is disconnect the screen and then remove it from the base of the unit. Once that is done I would dissassemble the screen and check the internal LCD for any signs of damage. After that reassemble the screen back together making sure you tighten up the screws properly. Chances are the screws inside the LCD have become loose and disasembling and reassembling it should resolve the issue. After reassembling the screen of course just put it back onto the base of the laptop and connect it back up.
