I have an Aurora M9700 that some of you have helped me with in the past. It's time for me to let the Alien find a new home, I'm just not sure if I should try to sell it whole, or sell the parts. I'm not trying to sell it here, I don't even know if that's allowed. If this post is inappropriate for this forum, please let me know.

Some folks in here have mentioned that they have parted out (I think is the term!) many of these, so I am asking for some advice. The screen is bad, has about 40+ vertical lines now. It is also heating to the point of shutting down by itself. I was thinking of buying a new screen, but with the heating problem I don't think it's worth it for me to try to fix it. It's always been rather slow too. I have Win 7 on it. Anyway, any helpful hints are appreciated as far as which parts to try to sell, etc.

Thanks so much for any help.

It's too bad the M9700 (at least in my opinion) was a downgrade the the slightly older M5790/50. The slow AMD processor makes it a rather undesirable Alienware compared to the 9750. What are your specs though?

By all means you are allowed to sell on this forum, just head over to the notebookreview marketplace in the other forum section.
Im not sure as to the value of vintage electronics, maybe you could score big from someone who wants some nostalgic value and pay for the entire system?

I just checked the rules, I don't have 100 points so I can't sell. Thank you for letting me know though :)

As a huge seller of M9700/M9750 parts, the market for M9700 stuff is pretty much gone (and the prices have dropped so much it isn't even worth my time anymore). The ML-44 could still retail for a lot but at this point I would list it on ebay as it sits.

I was afraid of that. Ok, I'll just try to get whatever I can for it. Thank you for letting me know. :)
