i just bought a new to me alienware m17x i got it for a really good deal. the only set back is due to the sellers precautious nature he would not sell it with the hard drive and claimed not to have any of the software disk either. no big deal i got a 500gb hard drive and new drivers recovery disk and was thinking about going with the new windows 7. is there any advice or other software i may need to get this puppy up and running, any info would help thanks......

Make sure he send the hard drive caddy...Might be a hassle to get a replacement.

You could easily pop an x9100 in there.

    x9100 | eBay

And most certainly add some RAM. 4GB is probably plenty, but the M17 will take up to 8GB with the B13 (or above) BIOS.

the caddy cannot be removed without leaving a hole in the m17 so he's there or you would have noted
