    Hello,

I just started having this problem after I formatted my laptop and installed windows 7 ultimate on it. At first it was fine and then it would start go into stealth mode by itself. I was able to get it to turn off a couple of times now it's stuck permanently on stealth mode. The speedometer button doesn't seem to work anymore. What's worse is that when I boot up the laptop, it turns on stealth mode as soon as windows starts loading. I've formatted the computer twice, first installing the vista that came with the laptop, a second time with windows 7, and each time stealth mode is running even before I install any drivers! I'm running on the x36 bios. I've tried shutting down my pc, unplugging power and removing battery, and then holding down the power for 60 seconds as some have suggested here, I can't get it to get off stealth mode!!! Any help will be much appreciated as I'm getting extremely frustrated with this stupid thing! Thank you.

Most likely a software bug. I'd try another format and reinstallation.

I doubt that your GPU has died because that wouldn't generally make it boot into stealth mode as standard, you'd still have to boot into stealth mode manually with a dead main GPU.

is this stealth mode or alternative graphics mode we're talking about?

because honestly, I can't tell the difference with you mooks.

he's talking about the downclocking, using the "speedometer" button on the touchpanel, not the nVidia vs Intel graphics chipsets. completely different function guys.

I wouldn't bother with a reformat, this is a firmware issue. update your bios, if it's already the newest version, update it anyways. it'll update the software on the touchpanel there and it should be less finnick-y about how you handle it.

I've had trouble getting my system in/out of stealth since I bought it, it's the one touch button that doesn't ever seem to want to play nice.
