Hi, Does anyone know if there is a software solution to the m15x touch slider problem. As my m15x is out of warranty I cant send it back for a MB replacement.

I have read a few post here about anti-static wipes and MB replacement, but just wondered if anyone had worked out any thing else?

    Thanks
    Mappy

    Is it about the responsiveness?
The v41 bios fixed it, no?

Which BIOS version are you running Mappy?

The touch buttons seem to be unresponsive after waking up from sleep on x32. X34 and X36 got rid of this issue.

If it's the volume flickering issue, I only get the flicker randomly if AlienFX is set to white.

    Mappy,

I worked extensively with the Roswell techs on that problem... Unfortunately there is no software-based fixed for that particular issue. The actual cause is a hardware defect in several of the motherboards that were produced.

Even if you are out of warranty, you can still contact Alienware and arrange for service -- this is a 'known' issue with this particular model. You may not even be charged.

Cost of a replacement motherboard (if they do charge you) was $586 from Alienware which isn't really all that terrible for a notebook.

I wish I had better news, but after working months on this issue, MB replacement is the only option.

    Mappy,

If you're running X36, you'll also be running v41. The Bios flash utility flashes both chips simultaneously.

You can try re-flashing X36... but it's a long shot.

The x36 bios is what messes it up to begin with I'm having ALOT of problems since switching, and orginally I didn't have such problems. Aside from the volume meter not working you won't be able to disengage stealth mode which is terrible.
