    m17 R1 and 4870 crossfire compatibility

    hi there, is it possible for the m17 R1 to support 4870 crossfire ? i have heard many conflicting stories.

    Sure is, mine has been running them w/o issue since I installed them back in April.

    depends on what card you are planing to get mine is runing 4850 cfx wich aree downclocked 4870 (mines are no longer) but i never heard about 4870 in MXM III 2.1


    EDIT you are talsking about the m17x-r1 or the m17-r1

    Depends if you're talking about the M17 (only has a light up keyboard and alienhead) or the M17x (several zones light up).

    If you've got the M17, then no. No 4870 card is compatible; they won't fit. There was a (very) limited run of MXM 2.1 4850s that will fit, but they are very hard to find. Be careful of which cards you're looking at; 4850s were produced in both MXM 2.1 and MXM 3.0; it's the 2.1 that you need.

    If you've got an M17x then yes, they are compatible (MXM 3.0).

    I think he's talking about the M17, not the M17x. In which case they are definitely NOT compatible.
