Hi i have searched but no luck in finding the bios or a thread associated with the bios in this forum. I was wanting to update my bios to the most recent so i can be sure that the t7600g or just the t7600 would work in my computer plus i want to upgrade my graphics card as well. If someone can point me in the right direction to upgrading and/or finding the bios that correctly corresponds to this system it would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Marcus

There is TONS of info on this forum about the m5500 m5750 & m5790. The t7600g never was officially supported by your laptop though so you would need to run a ver. 1.19 m5750/m5790 bios. You would be doing that at your own risk. Also not sure if the m5500 can properly cool a t7600g.

ok i have found out that the m5500i-r3 is basiclly the m5550 is that right? If so i found a bios revision 2.07w as the most current? If i got this correct then will the t7600 at least work?

Off topic but question about the laptop the wireless switch on the front does not seem to work. I can not turn on the internal wireless card is there a way to turn it on other then that front switch? I went through the properties and i do not see a way to enable radio or anything on the computer.

    Thanks in Advance!

Not sure, I have a m5750 not a m5500 so I have no clue if anyone has gotten a T7600 to work in theirs or if 2.07w will support it / is the latest BIOS.

Have you made sure the card shows up in device manager? Have you tried another card?

Well is there a known processor that i can safely max out this computer with? Also yes it shows up it even shows up in network connections and when you diagnose the problem in windows 7 it tell you that the radio or switch is off and needs to be enabled. The only switch is the one on the front right of the computer. Im gonna try this bios update and see if that makes any difference probably wont but im gonna try anyway.

If you have anymore information on the CPU i would greatly appreciate it as i wanna really tweak this thing. Ive already installed a intel x25-m ssd in it and it really makes things fast would love to get a better CPU and possibly video card in it.

    Thanks!

Looks like someone had a t7600 in their pc before i think it was a option when you could custom build these computers. I think i might purchase it an try it out wish more manufactures would put motherboard with use replaceable cpu n gpu capability!

Give the CPU a shot, they are not too expensive.

For the wireless card are the antennas attached? Is there some sort of intel wireless manager installed where the card is perhaps turned off? Perhaps the wireless switch is bad? If not you may just need a new card, a Bios update most likely will not do a thing.

I am not sure if you can fit mxm type III cards in your laptop but as you will see with modification I got a HD4850 into my m5750. That may run way too hot for your smaller laptop though so a HD3870 may be your best. If you can only fit a type II card then the best you will get in is a DDR3 HD4670. Changing cards is not as easy as a desktop. It requires a lot of trial and error and getting lucky with a VBIOS on the card that will support your laptop.

i see... yea bios didnt help with the wifi adapter ive tried 2 seperate cards as i had 2 of these laptops my brother and i both got one new back when they were selling. I used the adapter out of my old one which was the N card and used the original out of my brothers and get the same outcome...im starting to think its a wifi adapter issue. I work at staples and we have a belkin n150 card that is very very small its the size of the new wireless keyboard and mouse adapters so barely noticeable when you plug in...instead of spending cash on fixing this i might just plug one of those in its only 25$ bucks... as far as the processor goes a buddy of mine is not 100% sure but he said he had a intel core 2 duo mobile processor that he bought on ebay a while back for about 10$ and thinks its a t7500 any idea weather this would work in my computer or i should say if its the same socket as the t7600?

    Thanks again

    Marcus

    Correct

Only way is to spend $$ and try. When you do though post on the forum with your results to help others. I have spent a good amount (probably too much) trying different components in my m5750. As long as you don't break it, you can usually sell back on ebay for what you paid.
