Sorry for raising such an old post from the grave, but I've looked everywhere. Since I still have my m9750, and my wife won't let me get a M18x, I upgraded from the dreadful Vista to Windows 7 back when it was released to MSDN and Technet subscribers. It's been fine since, except the fact I can't burn DVDs. If I put Vista back on (actually on 2 different HDs), DVDs burn fine. I have the BD-RE drive.

I would be a happy camper if I could write to more than just CDs on my laptop.

Not sure if it matters, but I went Win 7 32 bit as the BIOS only allows the system to use 2.5 GB RAM anyways, even with a 64 bit OS.

    Thanks for any help.

I don't think I've seen the 175.32 nvidia driver mentioned here. Drivers | GeForce
I have the 179.48 driver installed (I'm on SLI enabled 7950s) however every time I try to run TF2 my system lags, on low settings no less. :/
I was on 7 x64 and 7 x86 with 179.48 as well and experiencing the same result.

Either my system is dead or the relatively new(er) driver is killing my performance. Regardless. I'm downloading 3dmark06 to benchmark my current driver before installing the linked one above. It's quite large at 585 MB (3dmark), but I figured I should contribute by recording my data since this thread has been very helpful. Fingers crossed X

That said, anyone know how to make the processors appear under device manager in XP SP3? I've already installed the chipset driver and I don't know what else would make them unknown. I've also got 5 more unknown devices but all of my drivers are now installed, so I'm wondering what the extra hardware is.

*side note, really liking this forum's auto-save text feature. Would not believe how many times I've lost paragraphs!*

    EDIT: Just finished benchmarking.

    179.48
    Score
    4292 3DMarks
    SM2.0 Score
    2080
    HDR/SM3.0 Score

    SM2.0 SCORE

    HDR/SM3.0 SCORE

    CPU SCORE

Apparently my CPU (T7200) should be at 1400.

Bleh. I'm going to pick this up again tomorrow. I already spent my time before changing drivers trying to make my processors recognized. If anyone knows or has an idea about what may be wrong, I'm all ears (and very thankful).

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I cannot send PM's since I am a new user.

I just picked up a used M9750, with win7, 2x ati hd3870, 4g ram, etc. I have been having random reboots in the middle graphic intensive computing (gaming). I have installed the latest ATI drivers, just released today, but still no joy. I would like to try to to install a higher BIOS, but I do not have hive access. Is the 0c03 BIOS identified as "v8350c03"? That is the BIOS I am running.

Long time lurker - first time poster... Sorry it's a massive necro too, but I need help. I have been working on my buddy's M9750 which has the 0F04 bios (XP based) bios and does not recognize the crossfired ATI 3870s. I have the same laptop and we have swapped all components back and forth including 8700M GT in SLI and everything works in mine and the SLI works in his. This leads me to believe the 0F03 bios does not support the crossfire because the screen goes black and shows no display. The software loads in the background as you can hear the windows chime but that is all. My M9750's bios is 0C03 (7314 for Vista) and crossfire and SLI both work in mine.

Can somebody please post an updated link to the 7314 bios?
    Many thanks,
    BF

Hello, again this is someone posting to an old thread, and therefore I am hoping someone out there may still be able to offer some assistance. I have installed MS Windows 7 64 bit on my M9750. All works well, very well, except the function keys at the top of the keyboard. Whenever one like music, dvd,tv, IE or mail is pressed, it goes to a BSOD and restarts the computer. Cannot figure it out, have tried many things, including reinstallation of OS. They work fine when I run XP on the machine (I have it on a backup drive). What is the problem? Tried installing the Vista 2.0 FKC from Alienware, tried the FKC modifier posted at the head of this thread (it always says "save failed"). Im throwing out a lifeline here :)

Probably missing the OSD driver, not sure if it can be obtained for W7 though.

Thanks for getting back to me, do you have any idea where I might find a working download for the last BIOS update? I think it is supposed to be 0C03. Somewhere I read that this BIOS may have something to do with the mapping of these buttons. I never had VISTA on this laptop, always used XP
