When I try starting my laptop, I hear my hard drive, my fans kick in, the quick launch and power button, and the alien head, all light up blue,I can hear all the sounds when Windows starts up but the monitor doesn't show anything.

Following the advice of google searches, I unplugged the battery, held the power button for a minute, and put it back in, and nothing changed. I then took off the bottom, unplugged + replugged the CMOS battery, which didn't work, and then I took out my video cards, and tried wit again. The result was that the screen flashed white with no GPUs in the laptop.

Tested with another complete LCD set from a working laptop m9750 and still got the same probelm so its not the LCD.

Plugging it into an external monitor doesn't work, the same problem happens and the external monitor reads "No Signal"

I tried the graphics cards and cpu on another laptop m9750 that works fine and they all work.

I bought another motherboard and had the same problem. If the GPUs work the cpu works, the ram works and windows loads then what can the problem possibly be?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Could it be the screen inverter or LCD cable.

    Hi "tHE jOKER"

Tried an external monitor and 3 different alienware LCDS "complete LCD systems with the inverter and cable that are 100% working" and same problem. I am afraid its the motherboard but then why does it enter windows etc.. with no display? Its so odd..

    Thanks again!

Hmm, could the VGA or DVI out port be broken?

Well nothing on the internal LCD and nothing on external monitor. Same thing on 2 different motherboards. Is it really possible to have the same problem on 2 motherboards? is it just coincidence? or is there something wrong here?

I tried changing the bios chip and also upgrading bios. Same thing no splash screen nothing on LCD or external but enters windows.

With all the trouble this has caused you, I'd just sell them.

i have the same problem with my 9750. it worked when i shut it down, then when i turned it back on the screen was black. if i hook it up to an external monitor the monitor goes into sleep mode. It says digital input detected and then says it's going into power save mode.

If i take the video card out and turn it on, the screen lights up but of coarse nothing happens. If the video card is in the computer boots to windows but the screen stays black. there is a blue light on the lcd invertor, i assume that is just confirming that the inverter is getting power.

Does this mean that my board is bad or my video card?

    Thanks

I also have the same symptoms as described by thetrader. no lcd or external video out but everything else seems to work. tried to use a diagnostic PCIe card but that didnt help either. And I dont want to bake the video card until i know it is for sure the card is at fault. all the internal cables seem to be pluged in just fine. Will be following the thread to see if anyone has an idea :)

    This might help

I had the exact same symptoms as the OP+Liquidflesh and rsgeiger have with their m9750. Windows boots but neither LCD or external screens show any input. When windows booted I managed to remote to the laptop, went into device manager and found that no cards were detected in the system (master/slave). So windows boots up but does not detect the cards. I tried baking the card (you get desperate) flashed my slave card with a master card bios but neither worked.

I found out by loads of trial and error that by applying pressure on the center part of the cooling copper on the master card the screen would turn on as normal and pc would function as it should. Quick steps to try out:

    1. Remove bottom plate
    2. Locate Main GPU / SLi Bridge
    3. Use your left hand to apply direct pressure on the GPU cooling copper
    4. Right hand turns on the laptop -a good idea is to take out the battery while you do it, should something go wrong simply quickly unplug the laptop, instant shutdown
    5. If that doesnt yield any results, apply direct pressure to the copper over the SLi bridge (push down hard directly on the SLi Bridge)

Do it a few times with different pressure settings (sounds silly, but my problem was that the card apparently didnt get a good enough contact with the socket) and hopefully you will get a picture

My permanent solution was to add 4-5copper coins on top of the main gpu, so when the back plate is screwed in place it applies pressure by itself.
Will post pictures of my "fix" next time I clean it in case my "guide" isnt clear enough hehe.

Hope this helps, desperate situations require desperate measures or something

    EDIT:
Found my original post of how I originally fixed the problem. This is an alternative in applying direct pressure to the GPU copper and instead applying pressure from under the keyboard. I ended up changing the fix as the first one in my post wasnt reliable (below keyboard fix):
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...systems/414150-diy-m9750-motherboard-fix.html

    EDIT2:
Will post pictures of the exact placement of the coins, my "guide" can be a bit confusing (read it a couple of times)

Cool, I really hope it works for you!

It sounds a bit odd this method, but try to differentiate the pressure on the main GPU and the SLi bridge.
Out of interest, have you taken your GPUs out a lot of times?
In total I think I have removed mine 10-15times, had a dead GPU on delivery etc, the constant exchange might have loosened something up thats not supposed to be loosened.

    Best of luck

hey so i had a problem also first screen went black i had a feeling it was the video card (7950GTX) so i baked it... then inserted the card still nothing. so i then looked at Sunksat post about the penny method well it didnt really work for me i had to apply more pressure elsewhere to get it going but even with it any bump or to much heat made the laptop freeze.. and starup was very long wait times.. i took the card out again cleaned it up added fresh thermal paste and now i cant even see it post (but i see the lights and maybe sometimes a cmos beep sounds like 2 very short fast and 1 short and loud not sure this happens when i disconnect the heatsink fans and boot it up or vise o versa.. well what could be my problem here? just buy video card and hoping its resolved? or could it be worse?

again i turn it on black screen pressure thing is now not working
but lights are flashing wireless ect. i time it more or so when it gets to the starting windows phase and here it hangs for a while so i see with the lights its hanging couldnt be the motherboard hope not

any help would be very much appreciated!

I believe after what you have tried that your card is fried... soorry about that...

    maybe others have better solution.

I recommend trying to borrow another card from someone on the forums to check out if that's the problem...

i have the same problems with my m9750. i have a blank screen, not even a bios post info. has the coin mod fixed this for everyone or is there another solution to this issue? folks with this problem, can you see the bios info before it goes black or blank?

    thanks!
