odd screen problem

Ok, recently my M15x with the 8800mGTX has gone Crazy. When I boot up in the 8800mGTX I get no 100% black and no 100% white, The white turns to blue and the black turns to red.

The weird thing is that when I boot with the integrated GPU I have no problems. But, I know it is not the 8800mGTX going bad because when I plug the computer in to a HDMI port the external screen is fine.

I have reinstalled the 186.81 driver, Reseated everything that can be reseated.

So I ask has anyone had a similar problem and what could be wrong, I can get some pictures if further explaining is necessary.

Maybe it needs a new screen? I think they go for under $100 on eBay.

The 100% black regions turn green and the 100% regions turn purple which I believe is similar to what your encountering. (see photos in the above pot)

At first I though it was because of the 'supposed' screen hinge reinforcement of this 2nd laptop that was causing the LCD screen to go like this but now I'm not so sure. Once the hinges disintegrated, I managed to get access to the cables running to the monitor and and readjust/replug them. This seems to make the problem go away.

So in my opinion it's either:
A) contortion of the LCD screen because of crappy Alienware chassis design
AND/OR
B) loose cabling due to faulty hinges which run near these
(you can see the cables to the monitor run right next to these hinges

So pictures of what your seeing, even if there crappy would help.

 

I am just going to use the HDMI to a 21.5 inch screen. And then just leave the lid tilted all the way back. Mine hinge is broken, Bo I fixed it with some epoxy and some screws that go threw the whole lid. I have no wobble now . It does look ghetto since the inner panel does not fit but I don't care that much any way. Since I will be building a desktop with in 6 months.

I am sure the GPU is dead but is on its last legs. I can make the screen usable by changing the Nvidia settings so that the brightness is 60% and the contrast a 0. It still has some vibration of the reds and is washed out but it will hold be over till my monitor gets here, got a awesome deal on a LED ASUS via newegg.

It is awesome playing l4d2 with it cause you can see the zombies amazingly well.
