i can only use the crappy intel graphics card on windows 7, have xp on dual boot, and i cant watch youtube or films on full screen as it has poor frame rate.
any idea how i can get the nvidia 8800 gt to work?
i tried accessing it on control panel but it gives me an error message
    thanks

First thing, you are in the wrong section, this is for the Dell M15x. Yours is the Area-51 edition and this post should go in the Legacy section. Second have you tried installing the correct drivers for your computer?

MAke sure you have that GPU engaged on your system and not the Intel GPU engaged.

To see whether you're on which GPU, simply right click on your desktop.

You should see Nvidia Control Panel as one of the options if you're on the 8800.

You normally see Graphics Options if you're on the x3100.

To switch from one GPU to the other, you press Fn+F7.

You might want to take a look at dhoang's thread on how to run everything fine and dandy on your m15x with win 7.

Which driver version are you using?

Driver versions 190 and up won't work with the area 51 m15x. Trying using 186.81 from Nvidia

    NVIDIA DRIVERS 186.81 WHQL
