exactly how I feel.

The larger screen wouldn't be a significant cost issue unless we were talking about going from a 11.6" to a 16:10 13". Generally the smaller the screen gets the more expensive the system costs (because of the "extra" design needed to fit the components) but if you look at the Acer and ASUS CULVs there's little price difference between the 11" models and 13" models.
Take the Acer 1810 and 3810. When packed with the same CPU and RAM the 3810 does cost about $100 to $150 more but you're also getting a much higher build quality on the Timeline series. -
I am really curious about what kind of processor thy are going put in this. I can't wait till this comes out!!!

Gizmodo says Core2Duo
http://gizmodo.com/5442786/alienware-m11x-hands+on-fast-ride-in-a-short-machine -
An X9100 or a T9900 would be nice. he he.
-
That Gizmodo article says "maxed out" <$1,000. I wonder what options we'll get to pick from then.
-
I dunno the 12in Asus U6 had a T or P cpu and an intel 9300gs and that only got like 2.5 hours of battery life(I think 3.5-4 hours stated). I don't know what Dell did to get a better stated battery life. Unless the C2D means a CULV.
-
Is there an optical drive in it?
-
It'll most likely not have an optical drive...
-
I really like it, and now am having some remorse getting the M15x. Though I remember my dilemna of not having a laptop and it driving me nuts and then the anxiety. It doesn't look like the keyboard looks like it would be too cramped, kind of looks like a M15x that went on a diet. Though I do wonder in the gizmodo preview they mention a lot about plastics and that makes me wonder if its still built like a tank like the bigger Mx's.
But I chose my M15x and it has been doing everything I throw at it respectfully. At least I have something to recommend cheaper to all those people who gawk at my Alienware (As all of us Alienware users know) and admire in amazement. -
6,000 3dmark in 11" at less than $1000!!!!
THAT IS INSANE!
Some of the claims are referring to low/med ingame detail settings for sure.
But I will absolutely get one. I might even sell my M17x and just get a desktop + M11x. -
If anything, this won't be my primary computer. Lets hope that it's nobodies primary computer.
-
no optical = no problem.
no removable battery either. -
no optical drive might not be a show stopper. I wonder how hot it actually will get?
-
Everyone that uses a big 4650 or 9600m equipped notebook only because they like to indulge in the occasion gaming session would be happy with one of these I think.
Stick a 7200rpm HDD or an SSD and you could run SQL and enterprise apps.
I want to try one to see if it could be portable do-everything computer. -
I hope the CPU turns out to be decent it will serve my purposes fine, small for weekly air travel + can run my games when i get to the hotel on the other and am bored
My concerns with it are it looks like a toy vs a business machine. and I hope the build quality is somewhat decent ( no ripples when pressing on the back of the screen, no flex in casing, solid hinges and such. )
I'm glad the netbook trend has finally made manufactures realize they don't need a optical drive in machines!! i've been waiting for this forever, small machine with optical drive sacrificed to toss a good graphics card in
-
The M11x will have an integrated GPU, but I mostly think the battery is down to the large battery. You can't remove the battery, but as a result it's bigger, 8 cell to be exact.
No. -
I want one! This is just exactly what I wanted. When I'm home, I'll game on my desktop, on the go, M11X.
-
I wonder if you will be able to OC the CPU
M17X might just become my desktop.
-
Kinda of sucks you can't remove it, but I hope this doesn't become a popular trend.

Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
this was my thread and they merge in other thread -
I thought they just changed the title. But if they did merge, it's better I think.
-
They do that.... Just because there was more then 1 on the same subject
-
Weren't you looking for a smaller more portable machine?
-
Witcher & tyh both posted this at the same time. the threads have been merged together since we do not need two threads for this. Thanks and kudos to both witcher and tyh for sharing this breaking news...

dang, I was ready to have my ASUS UL30VT-A1 shipped this week or next, and now I'm cancelling my order and holding out for this little beast... Battery life doesn't look quite as good, but love the backlit keys, and it will be a great companion to my M15X.

Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
Darn, you guys find this news out so fast...i was just about to post.
No its time for Asus to come out with a gaming 11"! -
If they made the bezel smaller or screen 12in I would most def get this.
-
Its got a SIM solt too for 3.5G mobile internet..Thats cool. What about ESata? Does it have ESata or is that a lame arse firewire port?
-
i would also have preferred a 13" but the keyboard looks sufficient and I'll have it plugged into my monitor or tv for gaming most of the time anyway.
-
i could have both like my m17 does
-
Thanks BatBoy and witcher4360.
-
1280x720 according to a video on youtube
-
I think that was the resolution that MW2 was running at. The screen has a little more res.

My gut is telling me it's 3D Mark 2003. -
Hi all,
First post on the forum, in fact, I signed up just to post on this thread.
Anyway, do you guys and gals (are there any gals?) think this model they're showing off at CES is a fully configured one?
You see, it makes me think this might even be a semi-prototype with full specs not confirmed. Who knows, it may get an Arrandale ULV or even LV CPU before launch.
Whatever the case, this'll be a step up from my Eee 1000H, which btw, I am using as my main computer. I obviously don't do gaming on it, but my family computer, even with its lowly 8200M, plays most of my games in full. The screen size of the Eee is excellent so the step up to 11.6" will be phenomenal along with the extra pixels. That is, if I decide to get it.
You see, now with the announcement of this, I'm teetering on whether to get this or the new 13" MacBook Pro. The MBP will have a bigger screen (compared to my Eee or this M11x), yet not too big (15.4/.6") and will more than likely have full Core i5, not an ULV Core 2. Also, due to it being a Pro machine, it'll have to have discrete graphics, so my guess is an ATi MR HD 5470 or 5650. Either way, they'll both be under £1000.
Now, posting this on an Alienware forum, I can probably guess what the response is going to be. But, what do you think I should go for. I can install Windows fine on the MacBook Pro, for the games, as I already have a spare licence. -
no that gpu is no slouch
-
Well, some sources say it is a C2D, others are just saying "Intel Low Voltage CPU".
Hmmm...... -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Well the fact that intel just released the lower core i7 and core i5/i3 stuff for notebooks along with 5 new chipsets (few with IGPs) for nehalem notebook parts would make me heavily think that this M11x will feature a nehalem based cpu
-
Well whatever it is:
1) It is not Atom
2) Is still some time away from release. Anything can happen. Including upgraded CPUs
