MacBook Pro is not under $1,000. It's $1,099 at least.
This baby beast is $799.
And MBP 13" do not have discrete card. At 15" to add this option costs a lot of money so no way it's under $1,000.

I really, really, really doubt that considering the less powerful 240M gets on average 6595 points in 3DMark06.
I would expect this to be getting around 7000+ in 3DMark06.
The 335M has 72 shaders compared to the 240M's 48. This is basically a damn good GPU!
Yes, but that's the current MBP 13". I'm on about the one to be announced by the end of the month. It will have a full Arrandale and a discrete GPU, as there is no way Apple would have the Intel graphics as the sole graphics for a Pro machine. As I said, such a machine would have, most likely, an ATi 5470 or 5650. Also, I said £. Not $. MBP was £899 until VAT raise. I'm betting it'll be brought back down when they release the new one. -

this pretty much settles it, not getting an M17 as my backup, waiting for this beast and getting it!
It is like my dads Mini 11z on super steroids lol -
And with a modern skullcap!
Irrelevant question: I wonder if it has rainbow keyboard or just single color setting. -
Well the inte SL9x000 and SU9x000 are labeled LV and ULV C2D cpu's, could be one of those?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
does it really matter as long as it is NOT an atom? lol
-
Well, I posted this earlier (same thread), so this is at least one of the options (for now).
Intel Core 2 ULV, the U7300
http://ces.cnet.com/8301-31045_1-10428491-269.html -
I'm guessing it has the rainbow keyboard as it was shown with a blue keyboard on Slashgear and a red keyboard at CES, at least, according to Engadget, CNet and Gizmodo's pictures.
-
Sorry, I meant if you can put more than 1 color simultaneously on the keyboard, and not just one color like the M17.
-
Wow.
I just ordered an Envy 15 with i5 and 5830 for $1350.
Guess I am out of excuses now! hahaha -

Nice buy, saw that deal as well, but an M11x will win hands down for me
-
Oh right, I'm relatively new to Alienware.
I mean, I've always oggled over the laptops, just not looked deeper at something like that.
I'm new to such phrases
-
So, who thinks this showfloor model is the fully configured one?
I'm thinking not. -
Yeah, you already have a main system
I have been laptop-less for a while now and need something.
I dunno - i5, 1080p, 5830 for $1350 is good enough for me
-
Would cost a lot more than $1000 with those CPUs.
-
Nice...Envy 15 getting the 5830 just increased the odds of the Envy 17 getting a 5870.
I'm looking for an i7-620M option. -
M11x Colors: Black and Smoky Grey. I'd say it was expected. I would pick up the grey one most likely
-
I'd go grey too as it will hide the plasticky-ness of the lid.
-
Saw some kid at my school looking at the M11x and I thought it was a typo or something..wow. *starts watching videos*
-
So, with an SU9x00 its over 1k but with the SU7x00, which just another version of the SU9x00 its under 1k? Doesn't make too much sense to me.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I would also have to go grey, so it matches the M17x
-
second asus have one with a 256mb card
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
256mb....this will be 1gb that aint gaming, that is the same as most IGPs
-
Third. LG had two 10.6in device, one was a tablet, in parts of the world with a ULV C2D of old and a nvidia 8400GS. Granted not the best gaming GPU, it was and sort of is one of the best gpu's you can get on a device that small. This was like back before the netbook craze and the first EEE pc came out.
-
Doesn't make much sense to me either but do a price search on laptops using the SL9000 and SU9000 CPUs.
Lenovo X301 for example. -
Yeah but what about the Acer Timeline and Timeline business 13 and 14in models which use the 1.4ghz SU9400, those are under 1k new.
-
it came out 1 year ago and it is gaming standard i think it scored 2000 on 06 something like that one of the first with a button to change to intergrated mode

The odds are it will not be a core 2 duo at all but a core i5/i3. The Mini 10 is getting this update right now
They are just demo'ing it with the core 2 duo for now -
My thoughts exactly!
This might even be the $799 model. Who knows? -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
no, there will only be one motherboard, there will not be options of Core 2 Duo OR Core i5/i3 as they have different sockets and chipsets
-
Where did you see the Mini 10 getting an i3/i5?
I only see it getting Pineview Atom N450. -
I'm not sure what else to say except "DO WANT!"
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Thought I read it in one of the threads, give me a minute to backtrack
-
The Mini 10 is NOT getting an Arrandale it is getting Pine Trail same as all the other netbooks. That update has been live on Dell's site since Monday. They have a number of options same as the prior Mini 10 (NOT the 10v). The prior 10 and 10v are also still available.
The M11x will vastly outperform the Mini 10 so let's have no more mention in this thread of those systems - they're different categories altogether.
-
hopefully its got overclocking options like its bigger AW siblings
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I was thinking that as well haha, it will have to be benched!
-
Asus offer 33% ocing in their UL30 and UL80 models with the same cpu I don't see why not here.
-
I'm halfway glad that I waited before buying an ultraportable, and halfway sad because now I'll probably be waiting for this.
It's more expensive than I planned, but it's also a lot more powerful, too. It's like they read my mind on what I wanted. I can't wait for reviews on this - I want to know about the weight on it. They said it's heavier than most 11.6's, which I expect since it will need decent cooling, but I want to know how much heavier. If it's over 5lbs (or really too much over 4), it defeats the purpose for me. -
4lbs is what I heard....
-
Exactly what I was thinking when I first saw this thing lol
-
Seems like the pics provided show the M11x with a glossy lid. Anyone know if there would be an option for a Matte lid???
-
It did seem a little shinier than the current M17x lid. I don't think different lid finishes will be an option, but at least we will have black and grey.
-
That would suck. Considering the size, im sure people would be traveling a lot with ( Myself included!). That glossy lid might end up showing lots of wear over time. Yuk!
-
Put a sticker on it...
-
It's the same crappy painted lid the M15x has, from what I can tell at least.
-
And I'm OK with it if it makes it lighter. Which is what they were attempting to do from what I have read.
-
I suppose.
They also could have used a lighter aluminum/magnesium alloy blend (like the Envy's).
Meh. I am more into materials these days! lol Don't like my computers feeling cheap, especially when they are not
-
But didnt the M15x have a matte lid?
-
I dunno if it's been mentioned in the thread yet.. but on the website it said this:
That's...lower than I'd want but still sick system!
