I love this laptop maybe Ill get one!

i just hope itll come with a bios overclocking options for the cpu and also some extra options for cpu for the setup. even if it isnt the i3 and i5s a proper core 2 duo wouldnt be so bad.. maybe a p or a t series. although it might reduce battery life i still feel 1.3ghz might give some lag even during normal tasks

at 21 seconds you can clearly see the Intel IGP setup.
this raises all kinds of questions.
I expected the 9400m which would have complimented the 335m greatly. -
Intel IGP = Intel Chipset = better than nVidia chipset
The 9400M also runs really hot compared to Intel's IGPs. Even when it's 'off'.
If it's an Intel IGP then that means we could be getting an i3/i5 in the final model.
If overclocking is enabled then it'll be able to go further with an Intel chipset too than an nVidia chipset.
Why would you want a 9400M when you got a discrete GPU to play games on anyway? -
if it had a nvidia chipset i was jumping of the waggon right away XD wise choice dell
-
This would be the main thread if the moderators approve and do the merging of posts, IMO.
-
No it won't. A family member has an Acer Timeline with a 1.3GHz C2D and it performs perfectly fine for any normal tasks.
-
what do you guys don,t understand in
GAMING ON 1.7GHZ SINGLE CORE WINDOW7 AND VISTA = PERFECTLY FINE
dual core sould be really great
i jumped from that single core thing to my actual monster XD -
LOL group QI divide the lowest one by the amount of people present forget about any common thing -
It certainly has the most logical name.
All we need now is a mod to merge all of the threads together into one. -
Lol. This made me laugh.
Let's just stay with the giant M11x thread. OK?
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=448975 -
Nvidia chipsets don't support CULVs or Core i.
-
Thank goodness for that.
nVidia should just stick to what they're good at: rebranding old GPUs and passing it off as the latest tech. -
I wish my M17x had an Intel IGP instead of the 9400. I'm sure the refresh will, if it's indeed a Core i7 platform.
-
unless dell started to make hybrid chipset from part of intels and nvidia ones (errrr welcome trouble) the next m17x will have an intel IGP
-
Well, with the inevitable death of my desktop today, it seems that my M15x replacement that Dell is sending me will now become my desktop, and I officially have an excuse to get the M11x for school!
-
lol I want that as an option, but I don't think that'll fly with my GF as this is already a gaming laptop =)
-
Haha... wifey is not too happy about it, but I just bought a Nikon D5000 (have not opened it yet), and if I return it (Thank God for Costco return policy), I will have enough money to get it. Well at least $907 for it.
-
Ive had 3-4 notebooks with 9400m and they were all vastly superior to intels offerings in my experience. Igp performance is 4x intel 4500series and runs cooler than 3100 series.
Battery life was no problem on the 9400m MacBooks that's I owned.
Hybrid sli would be nice. I get 500-1000 3dmark06 point boost on my rig with it on. A weak gpu like the 335m could use the help.
There are no ulv i3 CPUs. The chipset being intel is a deal breaker for me, if true. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I hate waiting. -
Sources say that it'll sell as low as $799...Considering that the GPU is probably soldered on, the battery is built in completely, that there'll probably only be one choice for the processor and the screen...$907 will be plenty
-
If what you say is correct, all those minimum cpu requirements that games need like 2.4 ghz core2duo are just a major scam and we shouldn't listhen to them at all? WoW for example still uses a lot of cpu, I wonder what games you have been playing then al these years....on your 1.7 ghz single core, even runescape needs more.
-
The whole POINT of an IGP in a system with a dedicated GPU is for battery life. You'd never game on it.
HybridSLI wouldn't work. The 335M is a lot more powerful than you give it credit for and due to the fact that SLi does not scale perfectly the 9400M would not help it at all. HybridSLI generally only works on GPUs of similar or less power to the 9400M itself and the 335M is FAR above that.
And if it has a 9400M in it then it's an nVidia chipset which is poor. Intel chipsets are far better. Plus, the 9400M generates a LOT of heat, and that added heat wouldn't exactly be welcome in a notebook that small with a dedicated GPU and CPU being cooled by the same one fan. -
This thread = fail
let's start a thread to discuss the threads. -
Lol I love the way you think. Married men like us should get automatic accounting designations. I've earned my CA.
-
Very few games need a 2.4GHz C2D. Only games the likes of Crysis need that much power and they've already said it runs at 50fps on the system, even if that's on low @ 800x600 that shows that the processor isn't going to bottleneck it much.
WoW uses a craptacular old engine that's just been updated over the years rather than a new engine. As a result it's VERY CPU dependant, unlike most other MMORPGs.
And I LOL'd at 'runescape needs more'...I can still play Runescape on my over-10-year-old Pentium 2 laptop with a 510MHz processor... -
Time to make the *OFFICIAL* Alienware M11x Thread Discussion Thread?
If people actually took the hint and used this then it wouldn't fail. Seems few people have common sense
-
Supreme commander, CNC3, sins of a solar empire
exactly they are scam most of these game have requirement of 1.8 to 2.2
in fact not they are based on the pentium power per clock anything higher then pentium have a per clock advantage that compensate -
Really, guild wars ran maxed out, super smooth on the ferrari wlmi 4005 I reviewed here years ago. That was a single core turion with and ati x700.
The cpu was 2 ghz, but it was AMD so that extra speed means very little.
-
Now we have to wait and see what asus rog and asus/gateway have up their sleeve for this segment.
-
I really love the idea.. now the M15x can stay at home, and the M11x can travel to class
-
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
Do we have any idea when the m11x might come out?
-
Early February it seems.
-
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
Thanx WaR, Where did you get that from?
-
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
I must of missed it scanning through all those post, but when might we be able to order the m11x?
-
-
so it got hdmi and vga that's great
-
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
It is not a netbook, but it doesn't have a dvd/blu ray drive?
-
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
I looked through that whole thread, found nothing about February.

I merged a bunch of the M11x threads into this one - let's try not to create any more. Thanks.
-
That was said by Gizmodo, IIRC.
I had it quoted... -
If y'all are right about the M11x using i3 the delay is probably for Apple to announce their refresh as they probably have first dibs.
-
Does Apple do more sales than Dell? -
Nope. And they didn't a couple of years ago when the MBA came out either.
I can't think of any other reason for the delay/lack of specs. -
here I was lusting after (another) m15x. this will be my next laptop purchase! God I want one and at 1000 or so its not bad at all. I already have the m17 and an hp firebird for heavy duty stuff (though the m17s core 2 duo is a bit lacking) and from what I hear this only comes with a core 2 duo as well and not a core i3 or i5 right or something new of that sort
-
no cd drive!!!! i was thinking about getting this but i dont feel like carrying an external drive around
-
Rengsey R. H. Jr. I Never Slept
It's a gaming " Net Book ". what you gonna expect?
-
ODDs need to die like the Floppy disc.
Bring on the 2TB SD cards. -
I wouldn't be surprised if they offered an external option.
