Anyone have the part number for the AC adapter with the blue light? I got one of the generic adapters with mine and would like to order one of the flashy ones.

hey sparhawk, how'd you get a 2.16 ghz oc, is that your normal OC? i have my i5 oc'd by 166ghz, and with tstop on i still only get around 1.9ghz...
-
Used tstop and I'm guessing the turbo is activating a x13 multiplier on a single core. Which doesn't really make sense after doing some googling. Going to have to doublecheck CPU-Z and tstop when I get out of work.
-
This is what my order receipt listed for the AC adapter:
Item Number: DJN5T. Module, Adapter, Alternating Current, Flextronics, 90W, 3P, World Wide, Alienware
If that description is actually for the smaller Alienware adapter, we should be able to get them for free. I'm assuming your order probably had the same thing listed. -
ah ok, keep me posted please if you find anything... maybe i'm not running tstop correctly (i didn't play around with it much, just changed the tdp/tdc limits)

I got my AC adapter replaced with the slim one with the LED on the tail end of the adapter. Item number is P2PCP Description: ADPT:AC:90W:FLX:3P:WW:M09:ANW
-
One thing you also have to push is that you have a friend that also has the m11xR2 and they have a slim AC adapter. Tell them you got an adapter that was for an Inspiron.
-
edit:
I'll probably try giving them a call later today or tomorrow. My m11x is making an annoying high pitched noise so I need to ask them about that too... -
I actually returned my m11xR2 to them due it not even be able to do a reasonable 5 hours on regular usage. I can only get 3 hours. Maybe you can get 5 hours if you turn-off everything, WLAN, BT, SPEEDSTEP, TURBOBOOST, USB, FIREWIRE, Backlight. Hell, why did you even bother getting an m11x if you will just turn all those off to get a measly 5 hrs. It would have been acceptable if these settings can be turned off by software that automatically switches them ON if you plug back the AC adapter.

I get about 5-6 hours in regular websurfing/work. About 5 hours if streaming 1080p flash content.
About 2 hours if playing SC2.
BT on, Turbo on, backlight at 3 ticks above nothing. (bt on because I use a BT mouse). Normally using WiFi (Intel 5100), else using FE.
My R1 would get about 7 hours regular websurfing/work. 8 hours if just using MS wordR2 cannot match that, so far... (no matter what I do)
EDIT: this is actual usage time, based on when I sign on and off. Batterybar pro always claims 4 hours, MS claims anywhere from 2 hours to 6 hours (MS is more influenced by what I am doing; batterybar I have no clue). -
i don't feel that i get a crappy amount of battery life from this laptop (r2)... i have it oc'd (too lazy to turn it on and off all the time) and the backlight turned down, keyboard not lit... and i seem to get at least 4 hours of usage, probably 5 if i'm just browsing and chatting, using a word doc maybe... 3-4 if i'm streaming from netflix. it's not 6 or 7 or 8 but i'm still satisfied 95%

The R1 has a small, but more "boxy" adaptor.
65W
The R2 has a large, but "slim" adaptor (flat, mostly).
90W - Also has a blue light at the tip -
A heads up for anyone buying a refurb: I've noticed a few issues with mine after having it for a week and just got off the phone with tech support. They're overnighting new parts to a tech who should be replacing them on Tues or Wed. Here's the list...
New fan -- Attempt to remedy constant high pitch noise when CPU is idle
New keyboard -- Mine touches the screen, just like most m11x
New battery -- Indicator lights on the bottom don't work
Slim AC adapter -- They sent a bulky, generic AC adapter
I explained to the rep that I don't think the fan will help at all since the noise is almost certainly a CPU issue, and the hinges are probably to blame for the keyboard touching the screen so I doubt a new keyboard will change anything (most m11x have this hinge issue). He was nice and didn't argue to avoid sending replacement parts, but I feel like they're wasting their money and time... maybe the tech who shows up will know more about it though.
My 21 day return period ends on the 18th, so I'll probably have to ask for an exchange if the tech can't figure it out. -
More than likely a new keyboard isn't going to change the fact that it comes in contact with the screen. As for the battery indicator on the bottom of the access plate, you've tried pressing it like you mean it, right? It's very common for people to think it doesn't work because they aren't pressing it hard enough.

I've got a dilemma with my Outlet M11x R2:
It came about a week ago and so far, runs very well. I'm in the minority, with no hinge issues. But, knowing the probability of problems with the hinge, is it worth it to keep the M11x and possibly have problems in the future?
Another note, the laptop seems to be well-built for the most part, but on some of the corners on the body and LCD screen area, there are small gaps on one side of the laptop only (the other side is a tighter fit).
Should I keep the M11x, or wait for a new revision? -
You know the issues with this version, and can hopefully determine if it will be too much of an issue for you. There is no guarantee the next "version" won't have its own issues, and if you are one of the first to get it then you will be one of the first to document and discover it.
Personally I feel that with a 3 year warranty this is a good laptop to have. If you have a considerable amount of issues with it then its lifespan will be closer to ending than the next version and you are more likely to receive a more generous accommodation. Based on my experience with the former XPS and current Dell Alienware lines they will make you a happy customer (even though it might take some initiative on your part)
It seems to me the "performance" smaller sized laptops run a higher frequency of problems than more common sizes; so I lean toward the Devil I know. I also received one that seems to be completely defect free, and despite a refurb unit appears brand new. YMMV -
i was wondering, if any of you got a custom plate on your m11x-r2..?? if yes, it would be really cool, coz i'm trying to get m11x-r2 from the outlet..

I got one with m11x on my m11x r2
-
I got my r2 two days ago from the dell outlet and it came with a plate that has the alienware hieroglyphics engraved on it, its looks awesome but im not sure if you can get a custom made one since they are refurbished.
-
You really aren't missing out on much if you don't have a personalized plate. Being located on the bottom you'll soon forget it exists and it's not often that many others are ever going to notice it unless point it out to them.
-
Ive had my m17x for over a year now and i forget its there most of the time.. and no one else notices it....

I just ordered my R2 from the Dell outlet.
i7, 4gb, 500gb, bt, 4 year warranty
ETA is Wednesday.
I'm coming from an m1330, so I'm pretty sure this system will smoke it in every way possible. I can't wait. -

-15% coupon
+$250 four year warranty
+$71.29 sales tax
+$8 Environmental Disposal Fee

$1143.44
I hate having to baby a laptop and Dell's warranty service has always treated me right. It's pretty much the only extended warranty I ever buy.
It was a little more than I originally wanted to spend for a replacement laptop, but I really wanted that i7 processor. -
That's not bad. I paid $1,295.10 with 2 year warranty since I didn't have a 15% coupon.
I7, 8 Gig ram, 250g hd -
Dell botched my order. I'm just going to get a refund on my purchase instead.

Any coupons for dell outlet?

I can't believe I missed this! I hope they have another before mid December...
I'm going to sell the laptop in my sig and want this because I need something with battery life and that is portable. -
I could write a book about the clusterf@ck that followed placing the order but I will have it either friday or next week (I'm at a different address next week - back at my apartment) and dell has real issues with shipping on time (or before) and dealing with address changes. -
yeah, I saw the deal the other month, but did not think I was going to get one, but now I want one...
-
got mine from dell outlet ... alienware hieroglyphics on nameplate looks neat...i7 4g total cost 735$ shipped...plays black ops flawless..loving this thing!!!!!
-
I got my m11x R3 just a few days ago from Dell Outlet. It's so beautiful. SO BEAUTIFUL. Honestly, the only you could tell this laptop is a refurb is by the green refurb sticker on the bottom. I do wish that the nameplate on the back wasn't the generic version though. It's a simple engraved "M11x".
I got my m11x i7 6GB RAM 500 GB HDD for $780 after a 20% discount. The best way to get a hold of Dell Outlet coupons is definitely through their twitter. -
it really is an amazing machine!
If it makes you feel any better a buddy of mine ordered his and didnt get a nameplate AT ALL! He was pretty bummed about it, then again you dont see it much.
