The SP game is really nice so far. MP was giving everyone hassle earlier so I just gave up on it. The graphics are great. Of course they make everyone feel good about their PC by having 3 options for graphics. HIGH, Very High, and Extreme. So I set it to extreme, modified a few tweaks and off we go. Over 30fps most of the time (m15x not m11x) and the effects and gameplay is good.
I would suggest everyone give it a chance. I bet the m11x could play on HIGH no problem. Story is pretty cool so far.
You can now buy upgrades to your suit while in game so that's really neat as well.
So far, Easy 8.5 outta 10.

Yea it's definitely a fun game, the only problem is its definitely a rental game for me... my computer could handle it pretty easily, but theres no way I'm buying a game that I will only play for the 12 hour single player. However, for a shooter that is pretty damn good

@ButterBeans -- Because I usually do a lot with optimization for the m11x. Post history speaks for itself.

Aww oversight, I didn't see part of your posting.

ok, i am moving the game files from my PC to the M11x and being that the game is still not available in Australia yet I've resorted to using my VPN access to unlock the game early and do a quick test on the M11x.
performance is key here! -
OK, played a few minutes and the game runs pretty good @ 720p on High settings (AKA Gamer settings) with no v-sync. lowest seems to be in the low 20s but not for long stretches.
-
Playin on very high on m11x r1, 25-30 fps with gpu overclocked.
-
+1
The game is great, even on R1. Is there any optimization info available yet? Was using a configurator for the demo that might work the same for the full game, haven't tried yet. Gave more graphical options than the in-game menu. -
Meh; they've ruined the Crysis franchise as far as I'm concerned.
Just about everything about it is dumbed down(Or, "streamlined" as they call it) compared to the first one.
If I had wanted to play Call of Duty, I would be playing it.....but since that's another one of those games I dislike I wont be playing either. -

Not sure how many saw...here's my M11xR2 gameplay video.
Again, I don't care if people think I am "good" or "bad" - all I do is make a clip so people can see how well the game plays on this little machine.

Massiv-- I am still playing homefront for my MP fix right now. Crysis 2 is still having MP difficulties so I will just wait. (I can always go back to trusty BFBC2 if needed as well. (Also remember the Demo I played was the MP demo with 2 maps) My main complaints were Hit detection and over blur. I haven't really tried the MP part yet except to get my key registered and get my level5 crap that everyone got.
The single players is fun so far. I dont really have any complaints.

I am not impressed. Maybe after a dx11 patch comes out, right now crysis 2 is just another moderately good fps with slightly different online gameplay. Nothing like what crysis was when it came out.

He may be a party pooper, but we all know it's true... I think they have taken a few innovative steps in multiplayer, but they are still conforming to the standard FPS's now... where as before they created something truly memorable.
-
Yeah, On my external monitor 23" (1080p) im playing 1280x720 in WINDOW mode on very high settings with max oc and throttle stop running. Fraps says im getting between 20 - 25.... If I set it to just "high" settings i get 25-30
-
Also, tired of seeing once-great PC franchises get "consolized"/"mainstream'd" for the sake of increasing sales.
I'm sure most will love it, but I'm not too thrilled about it. Not to mention, they removed PowerStruggle! What were they thinking? PowerStruggle was awesome & innovative. Sadly, Bubba-Joe gamer & his 10 year old kid wont be able understand how it works & don't have the patience to watch the entire training video.....so it's gone now..... -
i think it's better that they streamlined the suit functions because the controls were too cumbersome in the first game.

I'm actually enjoying Crysis 2, I like the freedom of how to tackle different areas... its not great, but they are taking steps in the right direction. The game I really cant wait for though is Deux es human revolution

It seems like all I'm doing is running at people/creatures using armor mode and mashing the V button.
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
that's your choice, if your playing it on the hardest difficulty like I am. That will never work, you really have to think about your strategy our you die within a few seconds even on armor mode.

They succeeded in making a dumber game from the previous one. This game is so console style-ed. I'll just get it for Xbox 360
-
i still have to pick up my pre-order for 360 LOL

Btw, the M11x plays it perfectly. With motion blur disabled, the game rarely goes under 25fps @ high, w/o any OC. Great optimization on Crytek's part. -
How do you get FPS to show?evga precision nor fraps seem to work.It does feel quite smooth on high though.
-
fraps has to be running while the game is.

Two glitches:
1) Nano Catalysts reset when you quit the game. Crazy annoying because I had 16,000 saved (enough to buy the best nanosuit upgrade) and they all disappeared when I quit the game to have lunch.
2) Melee lock. Sometimes, the game doesn't allow me to melee and I have to quit the game to get it back to normal. Then problem one happens.
I wonder if these happen to everyone, to M11x users, or just me... -

I play as many of my SP campaign FPS or Hack & Slash or Action games console style with my machine hooked up to my 60" Plasma running HDMI and an XBox 360 controller for Windows.
This is how I played Crysis & Crysis: Warhead too.
I did a Pepsi challenge with this game and Warhead in terms of graphics on my desktop machine, and I don't get the hate.
Maybe it's a matter of subjective opinion, or my eyes aren't seeing what the disappointed gamers are seeing, but not only does this game run an average of 80-100+FPS on Extreme/Hardcore, but to my eyes, the game is much better looking than Warhead. Combined with the performance improvement, I feel this is quite an achievement. It still causes bad tearing on my Pioneer Kuro so I still use V-Sync and it's been locked at a steady 60fps the whole game.
Warhead on the other hand, does get 50-60fps with VSync off, but still tears, so Vsynch on the same display, locks Warhead in at 24hz/24fps. This is a huge difference right here.
Though to be fair, Crysis 2 runs in DX9 while Warhead runs in DX10. Yet I still prefer the graphics of Crysis 2. Though maybe this is as much art direction as anything.
The other thing I'm confused on, is many gamers hate the Extreme/Hardcore settings for the motion blur and FOV, especially among other things. They complain it makes them sick, doesn't look as good, etc.
When I run the game, and play it at Extreme on my 60" display, none of this bothers me as I get a constant 60fps with my desktop (And this is on a last generation rig)
Is this because most PC gamers are playing it on a smaller and sharper display than my 60" 1080p/I'm playing the game under a more "console" like environment?
I'm not saying others are wrong at all, I'm just trying to understand it. It seems like if you can get a constant 60fps or better on Extreme (not so with my beloved G73) - then could it be argued that those settings are the look the designers/creators intended for the game?
As for the G73, I also get 20-30fps on the Advanced/Very High (medium) settings and not much better at Gamer. I'm running 11.4 beta and 800/1100 clocks.
My desktop which crushes this game has an I7 920 and 6gb of 1066 ram and 2 Nvidia GTX 275's SLI'd
Awesomely, my equally beloved M11x-R2 surprisingly runs arguably equal as well as my G73 on Gamer/High settings.
So I'm wondering, maybe this game is a lot more CPU intensive than GPU intensive compared to most FPS?
I still believe it is a graphical and gameplay improvement over the original and Warhead. But I'm one of those in between gamers who likes to hook up a PC to a Home Theater display and play SP games with a controller, but with graphics that would make any console owner cry... Of course, there are exceptions. KB/Mouse for FPS Multi, RTS games, etc. - but that's why I love PC gaming! You can have the best of both worlds.
I'm trusting with time, performance will improve on the G73 for Crysis 2. Still, I highly recommend it and it does play a constant 30fps on lowest settings on the G73 and or M11x, if either or similar is your only rig, and at 30fps it's still a gorgeous game.
Cheers! -

I don't remember that... Maybe it's because I don't think about the objective and just run and melee every Ceph I see.
If it's a huge machine thing, use rockets and C4, I guess.
EDIT: Anyone else notice Sergeant Redford's (from BC2) voice actor also plays the generic CELL fireteam leader? -
strange thing about the game is that i put it on pause and the resume it the game just drops to about 15-17fps and everything is running fine. had to reboot the m11x though but could have seen if it affected other games but didn't think of it at the time.

I have the exact same laptop as you only with less RAM and I don't have that issue. Even if I Alt-Tab out and in I still get the same fps.
Are you using the 266.58 drivers? Did you patch the game to V1.1? Agh, it's such a glitchy game. -
EDIT: also, the nvidia GPU caused the game to freeze then the game resumed at a lower fps on the 266.58 and getting the "your display is not attached to an Nvidia GPU" error when trying to get to the control panel so there's something wrong with the drivers or the overclock...i have no clue though it only happen 2-3 times out of playing the game. -
I love the dancing part LOL! Time for Maximum dance!

I wish I could try it out but my m11x decided to brake on me right after I bought Crysis 2.
-
Hehehe, so I can't be bothered reading each post of this thread because I have slow interwebs. Does the R1 handle this game good? I remember playing the Crysis 1 (vanilla) demo, it ran horribly, even at low settings. Anyone know the min and max FPS you are getting? @first_leviathan I never knew the voice actor from BFBC1/2 that did SGT.Redford is in Crysis 2
-
the game still suffers from low fps but it's playable enough.
-
so far so good, running very smoothly. only had one freeze ( had to task manager to end process), maybe I turned on vsync. disabled it, so far no problems.
-
man i hope the advanced graphic settings will make it run on the M11x even better.
-
man this game is amazing! atleast SP campaigns but Multiplayer is faulty (need some serious fix). I get around 24-32fps on M11x-R1 with "VERY HIGH" settings
Resolution: 1360x768
Driver: official 263.xx
Crysis 2, It's good It's really good
