Just thought I would put a heads-up here for everyone, Steam is having some mind blowing sales over the next few weeks. They are selling entire catalogs of games for less than $100 a pop, so every game a company has ever put on Steam for $50 or something similar. Some of these packs have 20+ games for the price of one full priced game. Lots of the packs have really excellent games, from The Witcher to Stalker, the best of PC gaming is on sale.
Since the M11X has no disc drive Steam is one of the best ways to buy and play your games on the system, and now is a great time to expand your game library and save a ton of cash, many of the deals are like $350 discounted.
Welcome to Steam
Remember to check back everyday for the new daily deals!

Oh man,...there goes my paycheck

Great Find! +rep

Just FYI the best strategy with these type of Steam sales is to check in everyday to see the daily sales. Buy the games you want that are on sale each day, then on the last day buy whatever else you want that was on sale.
It is best to do it this way because stuff that is on sale will probably cycle around and be a daily sale one day over the next 2 weeks. If you buy it now for $10 or $20 you will feel sad in a few days when it is the daily deal for $5. This really only applies to the single games that are marked down though, they won't make any of the big packs daily deals, so if you want a pack you might as well grab it. -
nice call of duty pack!
CoD, CoDUO CoD2, CoD4MW, CoDWW for $29.99! -
Picking up some copy 2's and older fun LAN games.
Inreally want to see Divinity 2 drop down. D2D had it for $30 a few weeks ago and I assumed Steam would follow suit but it's still at $50.
I'm tempted to get the COD pack for 30 but I already have mw1 and can't see myself playing the older ones again. How's WaW? I've heard the LAN is broken on it? -
I don't think World at War is very good personally. I would recommend everyone to check out The Witcher though, $6 for one of the best western RPGs in the last several years.
-
Dirt 2 for £7.50.....
-
Yea i just picked up dirt 2. I'm waiting to see if there is a better deal on Civ IV or poissibly assasins creed.
Its too bad WC3 isnt on steam or i'd have another good reason... I lost my discs and kinda want to play again... but sc2 is coming out. >.> -
Brilliant! *eyes up TellTale Everything Pack*
-
Sold on The Witcher.
How's Killing Floor? Worth the money or just ignore it and play Left for Dead? -
That is an amazing deal. I'm debating ordering it just so I can play on my M11, since I only have the disc version right now. Other than that, I really hope Dragon Age shows up in one of their daily sales.
-
Awesome post!
I just picked up Dirt2, Trine and the Witcher...
Thanks! -
Hey guys i am getting my M11x R2 tommorow, i heard people were having problems playing Steam games or theirs due to the optimus not recognizing the games. Should this prevent me from buying LOTS of gams today?
-
sure. Chances are that a driver update will fix the optimus mess.
But the last nvidia update of any consequence took almost a year to put out.
How often does Steam have these sales events? Quarterly? Semi annually? Don't know. -
Been waiting for Dirt 2 to go on sale for a while now now i just have to wait my laptop to come in so i can play it lets hope optimus is fixed by the time i get mine
-
awesome sale thanks
-
Well aside from the daily deals this sale lasts until the 4th, so you have some time to wait and test or whatever. Eventually Steam will be fixed on the R2, it is one of the largest game platforms on PC, so I would say it is quite safe to go ahead and buy now.
Bout twice a year, once for Christmas and once in the summer. However, this sale has the best deals I have ever seen on a Steam sale for such a wide variety of titles. -
I am trying to decide on Killing Floor myself, $5 seems good, but opinions seem mixed, some love, some hate.
-
I went ahead and got it. Won't be able to try it out until Sunday or Monday though.
If it sucks I can deal with a $5 loss. Lord knows I've blown more than that on garbage games in the past. -
20 bucks for Global Agenda is a steal!!! a great game. Be sure to grab that one! It's unreal engine 3, so I dont know how it will run, but its great. It's like a mix of Team fortress 2, Guild Wars and Planetside!
mount and blade warband is only 14 bucks!(50% OFF) Be sure to grab that. amazing awesome indie game! 64 player sword-in-the-face-on-a-horde-medieval-multiplayer-action: Save 50% on Mount & Blade: Warband on Steam
Audiosurf is also 5 bucks.. its awesome. you can use any mp3. file to create a track and just go. Ultimate game. GET IT. -
Just picked up Bioshock 2 for $14.95. Happy camper!
-
I have a question about that, does the Steam purchase come with a Windows Live code? In other words, can you earn achievements with the Steam version? And can you earn achievements offline at all?
I have been thinking about getting a few games Bioshock 2 being one, but I really love achievements, and want to play it where I can add the achievements to my Live profile. Often I don't have internet access when I play, but on Xbox 360 it doesn't matter, just wondering if Windows Live is similar. -
I have no idea, didn't se anything relating to Live during the purchase.
I've cancelled my Live account years ago... -
Bioshock 2 and Witcher for about what it costs me to eat and park downtown on a given weekday.
Thanks, YGM! -
I saw Mass Effect 1 for $5, and Crysis + Crysis Wars for $20 during EA week. Damn good deals.
And I just bought the Square Enix pack. I always wanted to play the Hitman games but never got a chance. Just Cause and Kane and Lynch is an added bonus!
And I'm not too sure if you can give away games, but someone can have my Batman: AA game. I already have it for PS3, so no sense in having 2 copies of the same game.
And I'm supposed to be studying for summer school. Oh well.
-
You missed out. EA week was last week. If mass effect was $5, I'm sure there would have been a raging sale for Dragon Age. Now the only problem with buying these packs is how the hell am I supposed to download all the games with a cable connection? :\
Anyone got a T1 pipe that I can borrow? -
The deal on Dragons Age wasn't all that great at 33% off. I had some real trouble with the Witcher (DVD ver 1.3) randomly crashing - common problem apparently, might buy the EE from steam to see if the bugs are ironed out.
-
ill be happy to take it xD
hmm..the square enix pack looks like a REALLY GOOD VALUE -
The EE is really awesome, you can read about everything they did, but it is basically a whole new game.
-
Global Agenda, should I get this now or wait for it?
Out of all their mmorpg/mmofps games this seems to be the greatest. (specially cause theres no subs!) And I love how they combined both elements of fps (third person in this case) action with rpg strategy WITH both of those being MMO! It reminds me of how great borderlands was and I still love it.
Should I throw in the towel and dive or shall I wait? And does anyone else have any more reviews on this game? I've had some clanmates tell me how great this game was from some of my current games.
Regards,
K -
Thought everyone should see this again, new daily deals, L4D2 for $10, AudioSurf for $2.50, Zeno Clash for $3.75, and a bunch of other good games on the daily deal for cheap.
-
Great!
Add me on steam: Steam Community :: ID :: [NmY] Gruber -
THQ Pack seems like a bit of a bargain tbh

Just a word of caution about Witcher. It's an unholy, crash-prone POS. I'm lucky to get more than 40 minutes before it freezes. The process cannot be killed and as a result I have to force my system to shutdown. Playing 20 minutes at a time, quitting and restarting the game is the only way I can play it reliably. What a PITA.
Otherwise it seems decent enough. Dialogue is pretty weak, but I'm guessing that due to the translation to English. -
l4D2 ON SALE FOR $10.20. Should i get it or just wait? I am still waiting for mY dam laptop. It looks as if it is going to take 1 month for them to give me my m11x r2 >.>
-
I would say get L4D2. I cant imagine it getting much better than this.
-
LFD2 bargain!
-
Yeah I had to snag lfd2, way to sweet of a deal! I also picked up the Witcher, and Torchlight. The day I got my new lappy was the Mass Effect sale, lucky me got both Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 for like 20 bucks. I also got down on that Bioshock 2 deal.
-
gah the moment steam has the greatest sale ever I happen too be in new zealand without a credit card in sight.
-
Well don't complain too much, you are in New Zealand! And without any of those awful credit cards in sight!
-
Civ IV complete for $10! Buy it now!
-
Trine is a great game.
-
Copped Left for Dead 2 for $10 yesterday, but honestly of you are spending more than $30 on valve games, you should get the valve Complete pack. Its on sale for $66 or so and you get every Valve game ever released.
And I'm spending way too much $$$ on Steam, I need bigger paychecks! -
Buy it now. Once its on your account, you can download it as many times as you want. However it's tied to your Steam account ( But Steam does NOT need to be up to launch the game.)
-
I have to disagree. The updated, free Enhanced Edition fixed the bugs and cleaned up the translation. It never crashed on me and I played right through to the end. This is one of my favourite RPGs. I like the complex, adult storyline. It is all a shades of gray. Great stuff!
Steam sales rock. Civ 4, L4D collection for $23!, Overlord collection for under $5? Wow. What will the sale be tomorrow? -
haha i bought it xD really good game. I am playing with my friends in RL.
-
You completed the Witcher EE on your M11x? I bought the original version updated to 1.3 only to find that it wasn't at all stable when running on the M11x. Thought i'd take a punt and buy it on steam, haven't installed it yet, just hope that the same issues don't plague this patched version.
-
I wanted the witcher but was waiting.. now it's bumped up. Still a great price, but with a backlog on steam already I'd rather not pay more than I "could have". haha.
Dawn of War II games are excellent. HIghly recommended. -
Sorry, I did not complete Witcher EE on my M11xR2, I am still waiting for it to arrive from Dell. I played it on my desktop a few months ago. I was referring to the upgrades made to the EE version overall. I could not play the original version on my desktop due to crashes, so I waited for the EE and it was a much improved experience. I wonder why it would be unstable on the M11x though? It ran so solidly on the desktop that has lower specs that the M11xR2.

Great Steam sales for the next few weeks, get games for you M11X!
