I'm curious how often people's M11x's are actually being fixed hardware wise.

Can you please say how long you've had your M11 as well?

Got my M11x some time around July 2010.

Screen was replaced one time, due to my own stupidity (I accidentally nicked / scratched it, and used my Accidental Damage Protection to get it replaced). Other than that, absolutely no problems

This kind of thread might give false impressions of fail rate! Ive had 2 service calls and 3 issues though if that helps.

my hinge broke once. They replaced that. But now my fan seems to be acting up and not running at all? It started working again last night out of the blue but a technician is supposed to come today to replace the fan, so might as well get it replaced for free lol

Owned my m11x for about 3 months. Hinges broke down.

That aside - everything seems to be in order.

People are more apt to post comments when they're having problems. I wouldn't sweat it until you have the system in your hands and are using it.

    I wouldn't worry about it.

People who post on internet forums are a very self-selecting group of people. The vast majority of people who own any product have no problems with it, and never will have a problem with it. The people who post on forums are usually people who aren't in that group.

In all likelihood, you will get your M11x, it will work just fine, and you will never have any problems with it for as long as you own it. And if are unfortunate enough to run into problems... well, that is what a warranty is for.

If you already made your decision - do not regret it too much, before any significant reason to regret it arises :) It is somewhat possible you won't ever encounter any problems with your new laptop.

YET - informed is forearmed - be sure to inspect the laptop closely as it arrives, paying most attention to the lid/display and hinges. If you discover any noticeable build flaws in that area - just let them have a mouthful of it and request an exchange at once. You will get the perfect unit sooner or later, since the m11x is built remarkably well - not to mention the hinges (yes, it is funny).
