Are you using Throttlestop to test or wPrime? I get around 43-46 seconds when I use Throttlestop's 32M benching. Not sure why that is, maybe the creator can enlighten us.

im using throttle stop test. maybe its different to the wPrime test...?
Just tested DOW2 with it on, not really any noticeable difference in framerate... will see what happens with more play time. -
My best score for TS with the 32M test is 46, I guess the people with 30 seconds and that are i7 owners, I also have i5
-
When I use wPrime benchmarking 32M I get 29 seconds.
When I use Throttlestop benchmarking 32M I get 43-46 seconds.
Go download wPrime and try with that. -
i get an unexpected error quiting message when opening the wPrime application?? version 155
-
-
awesome thanks.
wPrime = 24.668 seconds. -
ok so i lied earlier! I'm now getting a framerate of 30+ constantly on DOW2 with everything on and set to ultra
-
First time poster....
BIOS OC 164
i7 Core
TS = 40.278
wPrime = 25.775 -

wprime:24.3 -
need help my computer become slow.
It started when I play game...when I buy m11xr2 it okay, play nice but after 5 month it become slow when I play ..
What I mean is lack..the fps look okay but the computer..
then I format the laptop beause I think it maybe solve the problem but still happen.
then I use throttlestop n same thing happen..
anyone know what happen to my laptop?
im using 8gb ram, i7 -
are you using Intel speed step with ts?
-
-
If you dont know then its most likely on, cause its on by default.
Bios>advanced>intel speedstep on/off -
is it better to have intel speed step on or off?
-
EIST / SpeedStep should in most cases be left on.
People turn it off for the wrong reasons.
Q-fays: Try posting a screen shot of ThrottleStop while you are running 4 threads of the 32M TS Bench test. Your problem sounds totally unrelated to ThrottleStop.
You can upload images to www.imageshack.us and then post a link here so we can have a look and help you out. You can also run a ThrottleStop log file while you are gaming and upload that to www.mediafire.com so we can have a look at that. We can't help you if we don't have some data to look at. -
hey unclewebb, could you please check this?

Hi everyone
Just tried this whole process for the first time but cant seem to overclock my i7 past 154mhz without it crashing.
I have my TS settings as:
TDP/TDC -50/50
Force TDP/TDC - 8
Set Multiplier - 11 (turbo)
I did try turning Speed stepper off and got to 166mhz but it kept crashing out when i started TS.
Any advice how i can get more out of this little demon and what im missing or doing wrong would be very much appreciated -
-
Not all CPU's will be able to OC to 166. It's common for some to fall short. I wouldn't sweat it. OC to whatever is stable and use ThrottleStop.
-
ThrottleStop gets GPU temperature information directly from the GPU driver. It runs at a higher priority than most monitoring programs so when your laptop is heavily loaded while gaming, it might be providing you a more accurate temperature number and it can do this without excessively loading your CPU or GPU.
If you think you have found a problem, post some screen shots so I can have a look. CPU and GPU core temperatures can change very rapidly when the load is not consistent. Use a program like Furmark to create a consistent load when testing different monitoring programs.
When reading the temps of my ATI desktop GPU or Nvidia mobile GPU, it seems OK.
Maybe I'm wrong. Why not run some 3D gaming time demo benchmarks, that are free to download, and post your results with and without GPU monitoring turned on.
If you think GPU monitoring is sucking 10% of your CPU, it's not, but it's easy enough to turn it off if you don't want it.
The best test is to run ThrottleStop with the Start Minimized option checked. Start it before going to bed and when you wake up in the morning, open up the Task Manger, select the CPU Time column, and see how much processor time TS has consumed. It's really not that bad, especially when you consider the performance increase it provides to the M11x-R2. Maybe start CPU-Z at the same time and minimize it over night so you will have something to compare to.
If you are using the TS Bench feature and you run a bunch of bench tests then it's going to chew up a lot of CPU cycles but when it is minimized to the system tray, it is very efficient. -
im not understand regarding 4 threads of the 32M TS Bench test

the log im not sure what you mean... -

Yeah, me waiting for TS Junior to, by the way great program... but rigth now not using it because I had to disable turbo boost in the bios to play GTA4.
again Thanks for such great tool. -
You can use TS to disable turbo boost from within Windows. That's what the Disable Turbo option is all about.
I got zero feedback about TS Junior so I assumed it wasn't important so I moved on to other projects. The Sandy Bridge transition has kept me busy lately but I'll put TS Junior back on the things to do list.
I also don't know what version of ThrottleStop you are using because you covered that up in your picture. Try checking the Set Multiplier box and set that as high as it can go. On the new versions of ThrottleStop, that should say Turbo so your CPU can use full turbo boost. I think that is the problem you are having. -
+1 for TS junior!
-
What's the point of a TS junior? surely a single program that is fully featured is more desirable (and considerably less work).
-
I'd love a TS junior as if to simplify the layout for the m11x.
-
-
-
i wasnt being unappreciative, uncelwebb knows im thankful just as much if not more than everyone else. i was just stating why a TS junior would be nice.
-
Thanks for some TS Junior feedback. It's back on the things to do list. I don't think it will make a huge difference to your overall gaming experience but I'm all for trying to get that last FPS out of your M11x-R2.

I i'm been toying arrown with my laptop and have the following isue
when using TS and my cpu oc to 144 and turbo x14 the temp go up to 90C then the processor slow down to x7 x5 to protect the cpu.
Is my laptop working as spected or shoud i call dell -
-
Ok, I just call Dell to report the issue, they'll change de MB, Fan and Cooling system for my laptop.
I'll report how it goes after the change and if my temps went down to the one people are reporting here (idle at 40c and 70C OC full load). -
Oh and Uncleweeb if ts junior would have a GUI why not make it an m11xor maybe an alien head that glows a color when on.
-
Thanks for the feed back ... I called Dell and was pretty easy, they are sending the core parts (mother board, fan and cooling system).
Good thing to toy arrown whit TS (TS BENCH 1024) and FurMark (to stress CPU, MEM and GPU at the same time) and monitor with CPUZ Coretemp and GPU Observer; CPU temp went to 90C and GPU temp reach 100C
I coud try the test again and post a screen shot whit the temp for reference for other people. -
I wouldn't recommend using Furmark much anymore.

It's not. It's related to balamacb stating his intention to use it for benchmarking purposes on his system.

i've just put a shortcut to TS in my startup folder yet when restart it doesnt startup. is there something esle i have to do to make it auto start? cheers.
-
What can I use to stress the GPU of my system no a "Tipical Level" while gamming. -
I just love this tool - running at 100/100/4 and OC'd at 166, I get a solid 39.413 second run now, the M11x-R2 is such a little monster !

I've been lurking around and I found this thing called "Powermizer" but I cant understand what it really does...
I have a M11xR2 (OC 166MHz) and using ThrottleStop... should I disable powermizer?, will it make my CPU/GPU work better?
