ETW has been played and tested to run well, I forget settings though.

@Aznguyen316 - ETW settings were probably high or ultra. I have no probs on that one.

In ICC25 on some fights with a lot of effects, there is slight graphic stuttering, but still playable. I think in particulary FPS drops below 25 FPS on Lady Deathwhisper, and Gunship battle, but otherwise works great. Those were the only slight issues in ICC25.
Also VOA Toravon has adds that produce some effect that affects FPS a little bit as well. A little bit more annoying but ok, not that big of a deal.
These are the settings I am running with:
maybe it can be tweaked a little for those particular fights, but I didn't find it necessary. ToC25 works flawless, not even a slightest hiccup. -

Sacred 2, Standard Texture (non ce edition), Settings on very high (highest) 2xaa (prolly can get 4 easy), everything enabled including vsync 34-40fps+. Looks really great. No Oc (except cpu), standard optimizations.
Unreal - what is icc25?
Best wishes,

@Thomas - Man... I would have a hard time gaming away from the hd5850. That card is SWEEET! Have you tried any games like Dungeons and Dragons online or Champions Online on the m11x by chance?
BW,
StevenX -
For gaming, are you folks using a mouse then?
-
LOL... what else?
Unless it's a game like Football Manager 2010 - that I can easily "play" with a touchpad.
-
I've been using a 360 controller lately. Been lazy and it's nice to just sit back on couch with laptop on stand in front of me and play while watching tv =)
-
Aw heck, I generally use a Trackman Wheel for most applications.
Only in PvP games did I go to my G5 mouse. I just find the thumb trackball better for ergos.
I figured that maybe the touch pad had advanced to a point of real game-worthiness. You never know, folks are gaming on the bus with these things, eh? -
Nope haven't tried those games, but I think the m11x is able to handle them.
Yes the 5850 is a very good card, but I don't have my dirt 2 and grid save files on my desktop, and the m11x is just fun to play games with.
Btw: I tried gaming with it in a car and it worked quite well on the highway, but on smaller roads it's annoying, and makes you feel sick. I'd love to play with it in traffic jams.
-
I can vouch for Dungeons and Dragons online working well on the M11x and with decent graphical settings. I played about 5 or 6 hours of it and didn't notice any major slowdown.

@Hengst2402 Thanks Sir! I appreciate the feedback!
StevenX -
Sad to say, since I got this laptop for gaming I haven't done much gaming of late. Been to busy with work/school.
-
CS:S Beta w/ some source updates everything maxed out, Anisotropic filtering 16x, AA4x, native res plays very well rarely drops below 55FPS and often in triple digits haha the stress test gave me 76FPS with multicore rendering on.
-
is there something else besides motionjoy to use your ps3 controller on 64bit win7?
I found that when playing vs mode in StreetFighter4 the game stutters ocassionally which is a big no no for SF4 enthusiasts. -

Portal is free now on Steam!

Free till the 24th.

whats the latest driver for m11x? i've installed the latest one from the nvidia (not the beta) but then i cant switch GPU.. reverted back to old driver..
-
In order to be able to retain the ability to switch between the Intel intergrated and the Nvidia 335m, you must either hack your own drivers or use the drivers Dell provides on their site for the M11x. The latest driver's on the Dell site are 197.x vs the 188.x that the M11x shipped with.
-
-
Dell's official driver page for M11x.
Just scroll down to the graphic drivers and get the beta 197.x drivers. -
-
Yes, it retains switchability.

Batman runs pretty badly for me (SU7300 @1.3 + 4GB).
I've reduced it down to Medium - tried it with and without physx (when i turned physx off in game, I also disabled it in the NV control panel).
It plays alright until a lot is going on (or when you get the bats flittering across the screen) and then you get major slowdown, sound stuttering and popping and fps drops to 10-15 fps. When it's running well it is in the mid 30s.
I have vsync on also - off it just looks really bad to me.
/Edit: Also on the beta NV drivers. -
just updated to the beta drivers.. so far so good.. curious to see that the PhysX mode was set to enable on default after updating the driver.. should i turn it on @ off?
-
The old drivers work better for me, except for Just Cause 2.
Dirt 2 and Grid crashed when I used the beta drivers, and got lower framerates. -
Personally, I'd just never use PhysX. Very few games actually use it and (I believe) it causes a hit.
-
i played Just Cause 2 with my old stock drivers from day one until now, no problem, just sometimes the FPS drops in heavy scene @ actions..

Thanks Bendak,
I intend to make sure they fix the problem or replace it. I will keep nagging until they do.
They have tried to suggest that overclocking is not supported.
What I keep telling them is that the OC feature is documented in the manual. I am not using third party software to OC, I am using software (firmware) that they provided... and it does not work properly because of it. If they continue to refuse, I will want to escalate the issue. Not sure how to go about that though. -
Hi all,
I've started to use my m11x to play WoW with and have been having some terrible issues.
I've been getting >5 fps in 25 man ICC fights. 10 man fights and Dalaran are fine. I am at lowest settings. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do?
Any help would be most appreciated, as I'm kind of a noob. -
In 25 man, I suggest shadows, particle effects, ground clutter on low and aliasing on 1x. Maybe try 1280x720 res? It's a 16:9 res like the default 1366x768 res.
-
Also, have you overclocked your cpu? Wow is still fairly CPU-dependent.
-
Does anyone know where I can find gaming benchmarks comparing the two different processors?
-
Just took delivery of a Samsung External DVD Writer and installed Mass Effect 2. Completely taken aback by the faultless performance, it's far better optimised than the original. -
You can find it on this forum. Use search/google, look at the benchmark thread.
-
Has anyone here played Divinity II: Ego Draconis? I'm wondering what settings your using and what you think of the game. I picked up a copy at the small shop on post and it looks good although maybe a little choppy on Mediums, so I'm going to have to test to see if it's a CPU or GPU thing.
-
I tried the Tropico 3 demo, and it sucks badly, I got some very odd "framerate drops" quite alot, but the rest is smooth.
Game isn't fun to play on the m11x anyway, it's screen is too small. -

All, I have added more screenshots to my external hd game thread. Hope al is well. I plugged the m11x into my sony bravia lcd 46 in tv. Played COD MW2 at 1920x1080, all settings max, no aa, no vsync. Looked absolutely amazing. Run a fraps benchmark log and my avg was 47fps on the new stimulus map (with the pool). Can't believe our little m11 is capable of 1080p with max settings...
Does anyone ever play shattered horizon on the m11x? Any feedback?
Best wishes,

Section 8... Installed on the SSD. Outstanding! Settings at 5 on all items (texture, details, shadows and culling) @ Native Rez. 39 to 41 fps with internal benchmark in game!!!!! I haven't played online but did play a couple of matches with BOTS. I got the feeling this is going to be a fun offline game when needed. The bots actually do things that regular (human) opponents would do..flank.. snipe... etc...

Hey guys,
my m11x (drivers) sometimes crashes while playing Dirt2 or Grid.
I thought the problem was fixed when I reinstalled my old drivers. Now it happened again. The screen freezes and the shadows, shaders and other effects in the game turn green, red, and blue.
Does anyone know how to fix it? -
stevenxowens792 Notebook Virtuoso
thomas - if you have re-installed the driver then maybe it is eat or something else hardware related. also are the fans working properly? Heat? I would disable most everything in bios and in windows hardware devices. Play the game, see if it crashes. If it doesn't, then enable one thing at a time until you find it. It may also be possible that the game is corrupt. Could be the OS as well. Reload might help. As always you have to start broad and narrow down until you find it. Sorry to hear about the trouble. Best Wishes, StevenX

Battlefield Bad Company 2 - running pretty good lately. Running with nvidia 197.57 and low settings in game. Plays smooth for most part. BFBC2 released a new patch this past week I believe... BW, StevenX

See absolutely no reason to play FPS on low settings. Better not to play it at all.
