I think you actually have to kill one (the one not utilized much) and then it starts back up at close to full utilization. I may try to load it up in a bit myself.

I loaded STalker COP back up. I tried that trick over and over and over. No matter what you do core 0 or core 1 stays at about 10 to 0 percent utilization. No wonder we have an issue with this game. The fps is outstanding but the cpu has a hard time feeding the data to the gpu. Rediculous. It's ok if you want to move slow or never run. Otherwise it's very depressing.

My advise to R2 folks would be to run this and make sure all the other cores are turned off so you get max turbo on single core.

Pretty much. I'd love to play the game but if it only uses one core then I'm not going to bother. It's a shame because the STALKER series is so good.

@All - I have installed it and un-installed it, benched with it, and read about it, but i have never really sat and played JUST CAUSE 2. I put it back on a couple of days ago and started to actually play it. It is a really fun, sandbox style game. I like it. I like that you can upgrade weapons, loads of different planes and transportation. I like that you fly a lot in this game. All in all, so far, I give it a thumbs up in my book. My settings really make this game look great, and good performance. It's not realistic, it's just not that type of game. (I still play BFBC2 about 30 minutes to an hour to stab some campers) but have switched over to JC2 now for a bit.

    Settings
Details High, Texture low, shadows medium, 2xAA and 2xAF, SSAO low ,Point light specular - on, all other items on except bokeh filter and vsync. Native Rez (1366x768), GPU OC 550/850 (not pushing it too hard but about 10 to 15 percent oc here), Game on high priority, Average is around 37-42 fps most of the time. It dips in mid-high 20s under intense action but even during firefights stays in the 30s.. All other usual optimizations apply.

Speaking about Just Cause 2, I have been enjoying this one too. The only thing I notice is that the game sometimes will stop responding when I am trying to exit to windows. I have to alt-tab-del to end the program. It doesn't do this all the time, but on occasion. This is the Steam version.

To be honest, don't get your hopes up. Civ4 was really cpu heavy and like all other strategy games, I expect civ5 to be as well. And the m11x is really lacking proper cpu power due to the ulv i7.

Sacred 2 - Vanilla Install plus 2.4 patch (includes enhanced physx support)
Settings - Very/Ultra High objects/textures/ground (shadows set to high and grass set to medium) Physx Details Enabled. NO AA or AF. Weather enabled.

    CPU oc, GPU oc 550/850
    Frames (min 24/max52/avg38)
Physx set to auto, Nvidia control panel.. Game detects it as GPU ACCELERATED.

If you enable physx in game and do not have it set to Auto or 335mGT in the nvidia control panel you will get around 8-10fps.

    Best Wishes, StevenX

hi guys, i have the alienware m11x R2 with i5 processor
    Here is my problem:
When i play Cod6: mw2 single player,i have no problem, avg fps is 40-60
but when i play multiplayer on alteriwnet, my fps is only 10-20 which is unplayable :( , i tried to lower my setting 800x600, no AA but not getting any better (I play this game in high performance, overlock, whitelisted )
Anyone having the same problem like me?

You may want to read this thread:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...11xr1-optimization-must-have.html#post6642489

as it seems it may help with online throttling issues. I've not tried it and not 100% sure if it applies to R2 as well as R1 but as long as you follow the steps outlined it is reversible if it doesnt help.

Has anyone here tried to run R.U.S.E? How does it run on your M11x?

I'm asking this out of mere curiosity, since my I5-520M, 4GB RAM and Geforce 330M Sony Vaio Z11 doesn't like the game that much. Although playable, the FPS sinks drastically on medium and lags all around, and low just looks horrific. It is quite fine on any other game, though.

Did anyone on an R2 work out how to keep FPS up when playing CSS.

When playing I have about 70-100 FPS and after 30 min it drops to 20-30 FPS.

I am running the m11x r2 with i7, 8gb ram and the latest drivers on the dell website. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

@KN8675309 - I have no idea what alterIwnet is... Is there a different executable for this? If so It also has to be added to the whitelist. I am sorry just never heard of what you are mentioning. I can play matches all night online, even in groundwar with max people and the game rarely ever dips below 40 fps.

@Amir - no idea on ruse. I was wondering that myself but I am wore out on RTS stuff. I think steam has a free demo so maybe someone on here will be willing to download and let you know.

p0nder - Is this issue happening with all I series Win7x64 users? If you check the steam forums are other machine brands/types having this issue?

@Talon - Nice.. why bother even playing then. If the real/legit COD MW2 is full of hackers no telling what the pirate network version of MW2 would be like. Probably 2 minute matches with nukes going off at the end of each one... No thanks!

It's probably even worse on the altered client. Black Ops should solve this by keeping your multiplayer profile server side instead of client side (which is what MW2 does).

If a game is rolling right along then after some period of time it starts to slow down my first guess would be temp throttling and after that, a memory leak.

now i have no problem even playing without plugged in with full resolution , fps avg is 60-80 :D
@steven: this pirate server has less hackers than the real server
I have been playing this server for a week but havent see any1 hacking
the only problem is lack of players --> have to play rooms with high ping...

R.U.S.E plays great on my R2 at full settings - some map stutter when zoomed out completely, but the action is pretty top notch.

Vindictus was actually a lot of fun for a bit...but I keep getting some "Unauthorized Program Detected" error from Hackshield. The Vindictus forums are worthless, but apparently it can be caused by any computer with an Optimus-style graphics system.

    ...goodie.

Yup, the game wouldn't work until I did. Kept giving an annoying directx warning.
I have it all on lowest setting and it still stutters. Tried burring at 3/4 and it still stutters.

    Score 12xx.

FPS is about 20, avg. 30avg for last scene.

    720p resolution

first charactor that can be chosen.

Note: this is jsut the benchmark. I don't think it was smooth, at all.

Hey, have you guys found gta iv to be playable at all on the r1? I saw someone get 25fps at 800x600. Is that very smooth? I used to play Crysis at around 25fps and it wasn't too bad.

I found with crysis even on my pretty powerful rig if I played on High DX10 with v-sync it would lock to 24/25fps. If you knock it down to DX9 without v-sync and get some custom config's for high it can look just as good but run around 40fps. Try that on the r1 but with medium settings and you might be surprised.

GTA4 was written for the multi core consoles so is very core/cpu dependant and for some reasons GPU memory is also a big factor (335m should have enough grunt graphically). Therefore it would perform better on a 3 GHz quad than it would on a 4ghz dual so you really will struggle with the 1.7GHZ dual of the R1. I’d expect the R2 i7 would have a better chance.

So the resolutions look strange because I am running this out to my Plasma (Samsung 850) and it overscans a bit. So these are custom resolutions to fill the screen properly at both 720p and 1080p. I found these settings to be the best.

Using the benchmark demo in the Video Settings

    Gamebooster On

Settings : (same for both resolutions)
    Windows Mode : Off
    VSync : Off
    MSAA Off
    AA Quality :N/A
    Arena : Low
    Player : Medium
    Crowd Detail : Low
    Sideline Characters : On
    Texture Quality : Medium
    Depth of Field : On
    Floor Reflection : On

    Resolution:
    1852 x 1042 (1080p)
    39-41 fps

    1238 x 696 (720p)
    40-43 fps

    1366x768
    38-42 fps

I was surprised to see a lack of difference in fps when bumping up from 720p to 1080p. I did try to set the Player and Textures to High and I could get maybe 15 fps, so Medium is the most solid.

Just wondering if anyone's having performance issues on Dead Rising 2 and Darksiders? DR2 works alright on my R1 with stutter at times but Darksiders seems to be quite choppy with the cutscenes being totally rubbish.
