That mod looks awesome do you just run the mod and it installs itself?

Vindictus runs very well on the m11x r1 at around 30-45 fps when in a dungeon and dips to about 20-30 when in battle. This is all based around high settings except medium shadows and debris.

Yes, the mod itself is as easy as clicking on the exe and letting it install. If it is modding a Steam install of Stalker, just make sure you have run the game once and exited before you install the mod, so it can find the install path. Also you need to start a new game, but this is worth it for the upgraded textures and lighting, as well as the many bug fixes it introduces. :D :D

Unlike some mods this one has been put together by some real pros and has been covered in some of the mainstream gaming press and magazines.

I've been having some problems with battlefield bad company 2. The game minimized every time I hit caps lock (is this supposed to be a feature?) and often when it minimizes it won't come back up. It continually tries to pull the game up and fails, and meanwhile it takes me like 10 minutes of pressing ctrl alt delete before I can pull up the task manager and shut it down. One time it happened it even said windows explorer failed and I had to restart.

Has anyone figured out how to run the Mafia 2 demo in fullscreen mode yet? I am thinking about getting the game but not being able to run in full-screen is just annoying.

Not going to bother reading the last 130 pages of this thread but, just tried to play gta4 on my r2 and it was stuttering on any setting without the distance set to like 10. Seemed that my cpu was running steadily at nearly 100%. Going to try to oc my cpu and see if that helps at all. I like the battery life on my m11x and hate having to oc to play a game since I know it will have a significant impact. It means I will have to reboot and change my setttings every time I want to play/stop playing gta4 :|

Overclocking hasn't ever had an appreciable impact on my battery life. When I'm on battery I'm in Power Saver mode with min CPU set to 1% and max at 50%.

GTA4, if I'm not mistaken, performs pretty poorly on the R2. Been lots of discussion about here.

Haven't tried it but does disabling turbo make it better? I think that's the consensus.

Anyone confirm how the Beta 3 of FFXIV runs on the M11x? Its not a huge concern to me since I own a M15x, but this is something i've been interested in for along time.... I don't want M11x users to miss out on this awesome game!

I played 2 and 3 so far and you can get a decent amount of better fps when playing on 3 compared to 2(you can lower textures in beta 3) I'm going to try out a new city and see how the surrounding zones play when open beta starts in a week or so. The starting city in the current beta supposedly has a lot more going on compared to the other two citys.

As I've stated in the ff14 thread that was made a while ago, the R2 i7 can run the game at a playable fps. It is far from perfect with seeing 15 fps in the more populated areas ( by quest crystals and in the city) but it runs well when playing. Especially in the cave zones, you can expect to see anywhere from 35-80 fps. My laptop doesn't overclock the GPU well while playing as it freezes the game and doesn't let me shut down the laptop after, but even without the GPU overclocked i've been able to play the game fine for the most part.

I play with a monitor attached playing in normal m11x res, not sure if that affects FPS at all. My opinion on the game changes daily, sometimes it plays smooth as butter, while others it may lag a little more than i'd like.

Alright, getting down right angry now...I bought this laptop, M11x R2, 8gb Ram, i7, to play some older games. Now I say older but these games aren't unknown subpar titles...here is the list...from Steam mind you...

Fallout 3 -Runs great...for about 40-50 minutes, then it crashes.
Gothic 3 - I know it comes with horrid programing to begin with, but with the community patch it runs...okay...but not all of the time...
Burnout Paradise - Runs great, no issues what so ever on high.
Gothic 2 - Runs in a windowed mode due to lack of wide screen support, it runs okay...but doesn't play well with Optimus it only runs on the Intel chip.
Left 4 Dead - Runs great, no lag even with a horde attack, everything on high.
Mass Effect - Runs great no issues on high.
Mirrors Edge - Runs great in out doors, but some what choppy in doors.

I don't know...I had an Asus Laptop that was 2 years old that could run these games without issue. I'm still within the return window, is there any light at the end of the tunnel? Is Dell going support the new Nvidia drivers? I did try to use the modded 25x.xx drivers but no luck so I'm sticking with the 257.30 from Dell...

    @KoukiFC3S

It doesn't run very well on the R1 in my experience. You'll get some decent framerates when you're running around outside, but if you either get in a car and drive around or go inside a building (for some reason) it gets noticeably jerky. I've tried overclocking the GPU and it doesn't help as far as I can tell. I'm guessing the CPU simply can't handle it.

Does anybody know how to get Stalker: Call of Pripyat running acceptably on this lappy?

I have it running with high settings and static lighting.

With the same setting on SoC I get 100+ FPS, but on this game I get <30...

Fraps is quite good for that.

On another note, I've started playing tiger woods online and it's played through Firefox. Is there anyone to have the Nvidia GPU kick in?

Under the Nvidia control panel you can add a custom app and browse for the firefox .exe (executable) and set it to automatically use the Nvidia GPU. Now that means it will always use it whether just browsing or playing a browser game in firefox. Check out this youtube video if you have issues :).

Windows 7 Professional on it would make the games work very well. We purchased W7Pro when my son couldn't play his older Xp games. Silent Storm was a game that he couldn't play for a couple of years as well as the Heroes games. He has no problems with KOTOR though. They are among his favorite games to play.

Also, I have no problem with Star Wars: Republic Commando on the M11xR1.

Does anyone have a good recommendation on settings for Mass Effect 2? I have my R1 overclocked through the bios; however I noticed I get a bit of choppiness in both audio and video every 10 seconds or so. When I first started playing yesterday, it played smooth. I am not sure what I should do to get the frame rate to play smoother.

I disabled my antivirus and lowered AA to 2x, which seemed to help, but it's still stuttering a bit. The funny thing is that I noticed this happening after installing software for this logitech G13 keyboard I bought yesterday. I am thinking about returning it because it seems a little overkill for gaming on the go.

Mass Effect 2 is the only game that seems to stutter when playing it. It did not do that when I first started playing. The only thing I can think that could have happened is when I opened my lid while playing the game through HDMI. The game seemed to lock up and I had to kill the task. Ever since then, the game seems to stutter every 10 seconds. Should I remove the game from my hard drive, re-download it from Steam and try it again? Does anyone think that could fix it?

Boy xps bfbc2 you can only use the 189 driver for the r2....its due to multiple dx instances running and punkbuster...I am mobile now so I will edit and post later...stevenx

<edit>the 189 beta driver is the only driver the R2 with optimus that can run games that utilize punkbuster without getting kicked out. I would reach out to Slickie or Kent1146 for better assistance with the R2. Kapicha and Nautis do a lot of driver mods specifically for the R2. <edit>

    Sorry, StevenX

m11x r2 runs F.E.A.R great on max settings, but I am experiencing FPS drops as time progresses/ when battles approaches. It runs fine after I restart the game, but the FPS drop reoccurs... I've properly whitelisted the game. Is there any fix to this?

Evening (or morning) everyone. I'm having an issue with Stalker: Call of Pripyat; it's only using one of my cores (I'm on a C2D R1 M11x, 4 gigs of ram, etc on Windows 7 64 bit). I've asked this in the R1 owners lounge as well but I've looked all over the place and I haven't come up with much. Any idea how I could make it utilize both cores instead of splitting them unevenly? For an example, it's splitting both of them like this: First core is at 80-90%, second is usually around 10%.

I have same game and that is happening to me, high utilization on one core and low on the other. I think it's just that the game isn't very good at multithreading due to it's age.

Stalker COP just came out this year? Feb or March I think? I didnt know about the core utilization. I am going to look that up myself. I have a problem that I can play it on great details, but it pauses every few seconds (6 if I'm running) to load up the map. I think the issue is that the game refuses to load all the textures into mem first or doesn't take advantage of our large video memory. I may post again on steam about this. The game is awesome and I dont remember having this issue on the m17.

Response I got in Steam -

Tip that I got here from the board: ctrl+alt+del out of the game and go in manually under processes and first turn off all xrayengine affinity cores but one, then switch them back on. From what I heard that's the only surefire way to get xrayengine to utilise them properly. It's part of my startup procedure now. Start game, jump out, fix, then load.

I have that game too, plus Shadow of Chernobyl. I'll have to give that a shot. Too bad there isn't a game patch to address this. I haven't played Clear Sky, but I've really been impressed by how the devs have improved the engine and graphics with COP. I wish my m11x had a GeForce 460 or something...but then I guess we would need more "cooling rods" and a nuclear power supply. ;)

Shadow of Chernobyl runs very, very, well. Granted, I turned down a lot of the options but it still looks nice and it gives the game a very distinct look. I've been playing around with the process affinity as Steve mentioned above but I guess I'll wait till I actually get a gaming rig to play it again.

@Talon, did it help to kill the process? Did it start back up on it's own again at a higher percent? Thanks, StevenX

Since I had the x-ray engine process twice, I set one to core 0 and the other to core 1. It did work but my processor load was still heavily on 0.

No matter, I've uninstalled it and I'll just wait for either an actual gaming desktop or STALKER 2 (which will hopefully be optimized). From what I've read, COP is just poorly coded and won't utilize both cores evenly anyway.
