so i'm looking for a good medival/fantasy RPG. I've never played dragon age origins, but i'm not a fan of a team of characters. more a fan of solo a lot. i guess in a way i'm looking for an offline MMORPG. but im fan of many different cities, behind the character view, I don't mind the grind and love dynamic loot. I'm playing runes of magic right now. But i believe most of the time you get a better quality of game from pay for the game. mount and blade looks boring. never got into elder scrolls games. The Witcher, fable 3 or two worlds maybe? I have fallout 3 for my 360. I love WoW but i will never play it again b/c it is addictive regardless what people say about it. I guess my problem with MMORPG's is i'm a loner 99% of the time. only time i ever group was to get rushed through something. Lord of the rings online maybe? someone throw me a bone please

And FYI - there are ways to overclock on some motherboard chipsets that clock CPU and memory independently. My Asus P5N-D motherboard (based on the nForce 750i chipset) allows you to clock in "Unlinked" mode, which lets you set the bus clock speeds of the CPU and memory independently from each other. This does not rely on adjusting CPU multipliers. -
It's not an MMO but you should check out Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. -
-
The Witcher is great. m11x runs it on high settings pretty smoothly. It's a little bit clunky because it doesn't have the polish of a AAA studio title (like Oblivion, which you should play if you have 200+ hours to kill), but the story is very engaging, combat system unique and enjoyable, and feels fresh for the genre.
If you're looking for a quick and dirty diablo-like isometric hack and slash, Titan Quest would be a good choice, and the recently released Torchlight, though limiting in scope, is also a bit of a gem.
I hated Dark Messiah. Looked great but the gameplay was terribly frustrating. It made the combat system in Oblivion seem excellent by comparison. -
Yes, I just started playing Two Worlds 2... and from the small amount I have played I am really enjoying it. It is a beautiful game and runs with everything maxed on my R1.
-
I have both torchlight and titans quest. and i have more mods on torchlight than i can shake a stick at. I love that game.

Reporting in on Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga. Installed, patched once, works very well with some slight tuning.

Anyone tried Kane & Lynch 2 on the R1?

You are welcome
Like I say I haven't played very much of it... too many games to choose from at the moment! But yeah it looks very promising. Do let me know how you get on! Never played the first one.

I've been playing Rome: Total War religiously for the past week or two, and it keeps freezing every now and again, atleast once a day. It normally happens when I'm in a battle, with it rarely happening while on the campaign map.
I can still hear the audio, and it doesn't seem to be looping or anything. Unfortunately every time this happens I must bring up the Task Manager and restart/turn off from there. Anyone know a solution? This never happened with my cruddy old desktop.. -
Got Viva Piñata and Blacklight Tango Down from GFWL, both work perfect maxed out, Tango Down has a weird use of the m11x lights, they change color according to the main color in the screen at the time:

They also change while playing the game, but I dunno what does bring the change, if is random or because something... -
ok sorry if it's been asked before. I need to know what should I do to play bfbc2 at decent framerates. I am not overcloking anything in my I7, 4ram.
I am geting about 15-20 fps avrege on med settings and bottoms at 10 fps in full action. Pls help. -
Oh and have vsync in game if you experience tearing(also have triple buffering on nvidia panel on); looks very smooth. -
cla1000 - BFBC2 likes a nice strong CPU so you may find you get good gains from overclocking your i7 using throttlestop (search on these very forums for the guide and overclocking thread).
You also may want to tweak the config file (found in your my documents / BFBC2 folder). I have found a mixture of low and medium settings (medium textures is a must) to be playable on my R1 at the native resolution (I hate scaling) although the first proper level (snow covered going through the town) drops to the high teens still.
There is a dedicated thread to tweaking / optimizing BFBC2 so you may want to search for that as well (again on these forums). -
I hopw you guys don't mind anothe WoW question. I read the thread all the way back to October and didn't see anything...
Does anyone have some recommended settings to run WoW Cataclysm 4.0.3a on an R1, overclocked C2D, with 4 gigs of RAM? I'd just like to get the optimal performance on my M11x.
Ever since the 4.0 patch, the M11x doesn't kick WoW's butt with "Ultra" settings.
Thank you! -
These are my wow settings for my R2. The only change I recommend for you is setting water detail and sunshafts higher (they don't work with the R2, but work fine in the R1 as I'm sure you already know).
launcher settings
=============
full screen = yes
terrain texture detail = 100%
texture filtering = 75% (approximate, hard to judge with slider)
terrain highlights = yes
trilinear filtering = no
sound channels = 0%
sound hardware accelaration = yes
in-game settings
============
rez = 1366x768 (wide) + fullscreen
multisampling = 2x
vsync = off
View Distance = ultra
Environmental Detail = ultra
Texture Resolution = high
Ground Clutter = ultra
Texture Filtering = 4x aniso
Particle Density = ultra
Shadow Quality = good
liquid detail = low (any higher setting doesn't work with Optimus)
sunshafts = off (the only other setting that doesn't work with Optimus) -
I've heard a lot R1 owner saying their m11x can handle l4d fine and FPS never dip below 30fps.
I'm on R1, SU4100 with 4GB ram. Even after I overclocked the cpu, when encountering hordes, the FPS sometimes dipped down to 15-18FPS.
Is this normal? -
@awyongcarl: I get a fluid 30+FPS with only 2GB Ram. Check your video settings - AA+AF should be at 2x with pretty much everything else at high.
-
Kane & Lynch 2 + Aliens Vs Predator both work perfectly on the R1. -

The game engine appears to use the CPU to calculate the location and parameters of these objects on the fly (I assume it does this as the objects can be moved or deystroyed by the player and thus require Physics) and thus can cause the cpu to choke when it also has to deal with the AI of a horde of "infected".
On low you will see alot of pop in. Medium is barely different to High yet will boost performance.
Even with this set to medium to will still see framerates drop into the 20's but it is much better than when they drop into the teens.
My reccomendation is set effects to medium (everything else high or very high) and play without any form of framerate counter. That way you will concentrate on the game and not really care if framerates drop a bit when a horde arrives (as you will be concentrating on the horde itself). -
So..who do I listen to? I'm basically having the same situation as Xaser's but Bendak says the otherwise..lol.
-
The CPU gets hit hard by a horde so the GPU settings; that arn't affected by CPU performance, can be set as high as you want (excluding AA and AF).
Why not try out various settings for yourself (as even identical machines can attain different results) and see what works best for you. L4D 1 & 2 has hordes that are generated (and thus processed) completely at random and will vary from game to game so performance is nearly impossible to accurately measure even on the same system.
I should also point out that I am running the 258.96 nvidia release drivers (graphics set to discrete in the bios). -
Somehow I prefer the low-ish fps (Console feels I guess) compared to my m15x which can run the games above 100fps most of the time haha. -
Cheers -
I also have my M11x heavily optimized to remove any unnecessary processes.
I must admit that I love gaming on this little thing as tweaking games to run is half the fun for me. It does also help that the M11x uses around 30w full load whereas my desktop uses around 550w.....
I have recently been playing BF2 patched up and maxed out and despite being old I am prefering it to BFBC2. I am hooked on the great wall map lol! -
I have no problem with l4d2 as well. native resolution. 2xaa max settings with textures at medium. and the biggest slow down i experience the whole game is i got a boomer horde on the hotel level on fire. dropped to 17fps for me. other than that always 30+
-
L4d runs perfect, I play at this settings:
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b245/VIdaluko/left4dead2010-12-1015-42-38-34.jpg
And it only drops to 25fps with the horde, normal play is always 40-60fps.... -
No problem With L4d2....I put on high settings with no problem...Never drop fps
