Hmm...I'll try running the game on my M11x R1 in a bit...just have to copy the files over. I'll let you know how well it runs then![]()
EDIT: For BRINK, my M11x R1 doesn't really run it so well. Although framerate is steady for the most part, there are some times when it has a bit of lag. I haven't tried playing it with the CPU overclocked though. Also, I only have 2GB of RAM so I would imagine that having more RAM may increase performance. I've been playing it on the lowest settings.

Brink's graphics don't seem all THAT impressive. I'll try tomorrow but on my desktop I can run it with everything turned up to the highest setting with no problems.
-
So far on my r2 its a bit laggy and i mostly had too turn everything down too be playable for me.
Plays pretty smooth on max native res and others settings on low tho.
Like with everything maxed its around 16fps
with everything off i see 30s and 40s.
Edit just found out what setting causing the low fps its ambient occlusion what makes it go down too 16fps. if i turn that off and leave everything else max its around 50s 40s and high 30s as min.
Its making my gpu get really hot for some reason.. Saw 95c and i have my fan speed on max. every other game its 70s and lower. -
anyone got any screenshots of the in-game settings?
EDIT: Gameplay video anyone? i want to see how bad it is. -
In my opinion - Brink really sucks as a game. Mediocre graphics, boring gameplay. Not worth it.
-
OK, installed the game on my R2 and to even make it remotely have playable FPS I have set it to the following settings:
resolution: 1024x576 (funny the game recognises it over 1152x648)
shadows: medium
textures: medium
soft particles and motion blur on
soft particles and motion blur can be turned off.
EDIT: A photoshopped image of the settings i used....

here's a video i chucked onto youtube. granted the quality video itself isn't great but it should give an idea of how it plays......at 1024x576.
YouTube - Brink on M11x R2 -
edit: are you overclocked at all? -
nope, I am not overclocking: everything is at stock. 1024x576 still looks good though. -
i bet if you used throttlestop and overclocked your cpu and gpu by maybe 10-15% you would have a significant increase in performance -
if i oc'd my m11x would crash so not bothering with OC'ing.
-
-
i've tried different overclocks and dead space 2 would always crash because of it. so i don't bother.

URGH! some of the levels in Brink are crap...even at 1024x576 the game drops to like 18fps...talk about it not being properly tested!
at least crysis 2 ran better at the same res! -
System requirements aren't getting smaller. Only solution for that is overclocking and new revisions. The 335M doesn't meet the minimum required 8800GS, nor does a stock Core i7 640UM w/o TS meet the minimum required Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz for Brink.
-
yet it's semi-playable.
i still have hopes that deus ex: human revolution will do better! -
Because the minimum system requirements are just above the M11x's hardware.
-
EDIT: Plus i am hoping the engine that deus ex uses isn't as intensive as crysis 2 is. -
For Brink. Deus Ex looks better as long as it's not asking for a high end 8800 as minimum.
-
OS: Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7
Processor: 2 GHz dual core
Memory: 1 GB RAM (Windows XP) / 2 GB (Windows Vista and Windows 7)
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8000 series or ATI Radeon HD 2000 series or better
DirectX®: DirectX 9.0c
Hard Drive: 8.5 GB
doesn't sound like it's asking for a high end 8800 as a minimum. though i have heard it's using a modified version of the engine used on tomb raider underworld. -
The entire 8000 series line is very broad and covers the low to high end. Listing 8000 series means it's asking for anything between the 8400GS to 8800GTX counting rebrands.
-
fair enough: the only way to know is to actually buy the damn game.....shucks!
-
Hmm i wounder how my R1 will react to Brink?
I have been waiting for this game for some time now. Well there is always my desktop if the lil beast cant keep up.... -
Depends where the load is placed. If it's CPU intensive like BC2, then you'll be alright. The GPU won't let you touch high settings though.
-
Yea. i like the lil 335. it has some nice punch for such a small thermal spec. but it lacks raw shader power like most laptop cards.
I dont mind truning down eyecandy for playability on such a portable system, as long as the frames are smooth i could be looking at colored blocks for all i care.
On my desktop tho, i want to see the details as much as the tech allows. -
Think of the M11x as a shrunken down XPS with it's mid range graphics and appropriated CPU. The 335M should play at native resolution just fine despite missing 24 shaders. Still, there were better options available.

For the ones getting low fps on the m11x r2 did you try turning off ambient occlusion ? Because i can max every other setting out and on native res and i get 30s and 40fps avg, I Think that setting might be bugged a bit.
At first i thought the r2 just couldn't handle the game than i was turning down settings and it was fine 30s and 40s and even 50s, So i start turning the settings back up one by one and found ambient occlusion is the problem. So i turn that off and everything is smooth.
I do have my r2 a bit overclock 160fsb thottlestop and a mild overclock on the gpu, But even at stock it was smooth. -
mine is off in the settings!
-
Like my desktop in sig six core 8gb ram and crossfire and i get really bad performance on that i mostly see mid 20s on that... Hopefully they release a patch too fix these performance problems.
But ya my m11x r2 runs the game smooth which i was surprised. I hardy ever see 20s mostly 30s and 40s fps.
Did you try thottlestop? Because that does help performance alot. -
i have seen 18fps on some open levels but most in-door levels stay above 30.
i really hope deus ex human revolution is much more optimized and runs better on the m11x though it is spec'd the same as crysis 2. -
Hmm hopefully they release a patch too fix these problems . i played on open levels and always got the same fps over 30fps i guess im in the lucky group for my m11x.
Ya i really never go by system requirments which are always wrong, i have played games that has crazy system requirements on low hardware smooth, and the same the other way around with good hardware and get low fps lol.
You can tell its not optimize sense my desktop gets low fpS which it shoulint. -
are you running on stock or OC?
-
ohh as a r1 owner I want to try that game, some say its crap others love it, well I dont have money so, whos up for the giveaway? lol
I want to know how runs on m11x r1 =) I think ill be fine, looks like borderlands and r1 maxs out borderlands -
OC which is 160fsb and a mild overclock on the gpu, But stock also ran fine too but with a bit lower fps of course.
I see if i can post some screenshots and maybe even a video, Of overclocked and stock on the game.
I also use thottlestop which helps alot in games, I haven't tried brink with it off, But will see how it is with it off when i play again which should be in couple hours.
But so far i am liking the game its different which requires team work, Sure its buggy but its ony been out couple days now and hopefully they fixed all the bugs. -
Hi Beautiful People!
I was just wondering if anyone has ever played or does play FIFA11 or any of the EA Sports FIFA games on any of the M11x notebook machines?
I wanted to know how the experience was in terms of:
Performance?
Battery life?
How long could I play FIFA 11 while on battery?
How loud is the fan when playing a game like FIFA11?
This will be the main game that I will be playing whislt using the M11x on the go. + of course FIFA12 when it comes out later in the year.
Cheers. -
I'm impressed by my m11xr2 i5. Played crysis 2 1298 x768 smoothly with fps around 35!
-
-
-
i'm downloading call of duty 2 from steam to make my M11x feel powerful!
LOL -
I also hope that red faction armageddon will work on the R2 as well!
-
I just preordered The Witcher 2. Even though I'm almost 99% positive that my m11x r1 won't be able to run it even on lowest settings, I guess I'll save it for one day when I get a better rig... If I can come up with the money :S
-
if there ever is an R4 I'll get that to replace the R2
