I'll try it out. Cause I love you.

lolol thanks lmk =P

Is there a special way to make an iso? I just used DT Lite and if you try to launch the launcher with it mounted it says there's an emulation violation. But...if you go directly into the folder you can install it without issues.
Yea, I've installed it, but keep running into the securom protection thing. I've read some things about people running it successfully with no problem, but no dice for me.\
I've tried some things and yea, I can't get it to work for some reason.
Sigh, I can get it to install on my computer, but can't run it despite what I try. Crack is the only solution for me :\ -
Yep, I agree, so far so good with the 197.16's from Nvidia.... I've got the BIOS set to Discreet, so the intel igp is never used, and simply did a clean install of these and was all set. Not ideal, but ~4hours battery life is still totallt acceptable to me for a machine with this power... and when we do figure out how to get better drivers with hybrid support it'll only be a bonus!

Has anyone else recently finished the original Mass Effect on the M11x? I just completed the game and was wondering if Mass Effect 2 is better optimized for our laptop. The first played much better on the M11x compared to my '09 Macbook Pro; however I noticed the game still seemed a little choppy at some points. Does OC'ing the system make that much of a difference?
-
I've read ME2 does play better than ME1, but this is not from experience, just from what I've seen from ME2 reviews and my personal experience w/ ME1.
-
I haven't installed ME1 on my M11x, but just going off the kind of performance I had on my m1730, ME2 runs infinitely better then 1 does. The first game was pretty horribly optimized, 2 is very very well coded imo.
-
I think the 197.13 drivers are better at stock clocks then the dell 188.55 drivers. But so far as far as overclocking goes I'm not seeing much differance. I scored 78.35FPS overclocked on the 188.55 drivers in SF4. At the same clocks I got 78.75FPS with 197.13 drivers. I'll have to run the tests tonight at stock clocks. The same was wit RE5. I'll also try them out with NFS which was around 25FPS-35FPS high settings stock drivers, stock clocks.
-
DR650SE - yeah that's what I assumed. I think the newer drivers will be most benefitted in much newer games - hence my impressions for BFBC2 and Metro 2033. Unfortuantely there is no official benchmarks for those, but I personally feel it plays better. Since STALKER Call of Pripyat is newer, you could try that, although it may be running off original base code of STALKER which was pretty unoptimized =)
-
Actually, i just finished Mass Effect today.. OC'ing the system and closing down AlienFX makes a huge difference, gameplay is almost completely smooth at natve resolution and high settings, just expect a small drop in frame rates in the Citadel. I'm running on 2GB of RAM but i doubt it detracted much from the experience as the processor is the bottleneck.
-
Dell should post the dev toolkit so that devs can create updated drivers.
-
Okay, so I did not OC my system, but my games have decent framerates. So when you turn off Alienfx, that is just pressing the FN key with the AlienFX key to turn the keyboard lights off? So the keyboard lights cause a hit in performance?
-
No, it's the "command center." go under the taskbar, and there should be a little alienhead with green eyes. right click and exit that. For me, that dropped it from 5% idle cpu usage... to 0.
Edit: all the fn+alienfx does is shut off the lights. CC will still be running or hogging.
-
Download a useful little program called CCleaner which is used to clean your temp files/registry and disable applications at startup - click tools and disable alien command centre, it shouldn't open at startup and your m11x should be able to run around 8% quicker by reducing CPU usage and freeing up around 350mb RAM... also advise you to OC your system to see if your CPU is tolerent to high clockspeeds/low voltage. Didn't use FRAPS with Mass Effect but i'm 100% certain that it runs faster on the M11x than the Xbox360 if you follow my instructions.
-
Oh, your keyboard lights won't go dark after closing command centre.. once you save your lighting preference it'll stay that way until you open up command centre to change it.
-
Anyone playing in the FFXIV BETA? I was wanting to know whether the m11x would be able to support it, I'm sure it will with at least some settings turned down.
A bonus question which I'm just pondering about, but anyone aware whether if you have a PC account to play on FF-Online whether you could possibly purchase the PS3 copy and use the same account? -
350mb for just the command center? that's extreme.

Ok guys.. ordered my m11x so that both my wife and I will have one. Went with Lunar Shadow to be different. Has anyone tried AOC (age of conan) or Champions Online? My m17 will almost max out champions and plays aoc pretty well. I tested Dawn Of War 2 (Steam Demo) on my wifes last night and once again I am so impressed that you can max this out with ultra settings and it looks great and you get a pretty good frame rate average (15-20). Looking forward to the benchmark tests when it arrives 4-15 or earlier (I hope). Take Care, Steven X

Im interested in how AoC runs as well, Im tired of playing wow and want to try something new. You can download a free unlimited trial now or something.
-
I'm wondering if gaming is actually comfortabe on an 11,6" screen... I 've never played on a screen under 15" before (except for my iPod Touch).
-
Extreme indeed.. i read that the command centre processes something every 10 seconds which can use up to 10% of the CPU... after closing it RAM usage on idle fell by 350mb, not a hugh problem if you ordered 4GB of ram but as a 2GB user i need to streamline my system to get the most from it.

AOC is not a small install... When you install it from DVD it is like 36gb and takes 4-5 hours to install. Is there a quick benchmark or test instead of a full installation?
Thanks, StevenX -
I don't find gaming to be uncomfortable on my m11x. Especially when playing Dragon Age, Just Cause 2, and other games. The only games I hook up my monitor to my m11x for is Bad Company 2. Need to be able to see all the little things to hit snipers and such. For the most part though, no problems. Love this little machine.
-
Does it run:
Just Cause 2
Age of Conan
Mass Effect 2
Left 4 Dead 2
Call of Duty: MW2
Crysis
WoW -
Sorry, i haven't tried any of the others (but i know plenty of other ppl can confirm that they work)...
crysis runs 25+ fps on mosltly high settings at x720 res. -
there's a just cause 2 vid somewhere
ME2 yes
L4D2 yes
MW2 yes
Crysis yes
WoW yes.
dunno about AoC but all signs point to yes
and when I say yes, playable too (IMO). -
Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes.
-
And if you use CCC mod then it gets even better
-
well i just had the demo, so i didn't mess with it too much...
stilling puttting off getting the full version lol.
-
It runs everything on quite high settings except for Crysis and AOC I think.
-
Does the CCC mod work on the demo?
I love how High looks, but want more than high 20s. -
IDK about the demo, but when it comes to the real deal CCC will give you what you want
-
Does it run Command and Conquer 4?
-
Should do - I heard this game is awful though...The reviews on Amazon are amusing, almost all 1 star.
-
Might have more to do with obtrusive DRM crashing the game and rendering it unplayable.
-
Guys, £15 for Boarderlands on steam but does it play OK on the m11x?
-
You have to disable shadows to get the best performance but yes, it runs fine at mostly mediumish settings.
-
Thanks for the quick reply.

Has anyone played games off an external USB DVD-rom drive? If so did they work ok? Yes I know about steam but some of my games are disc only games (yes I know about special patches) but I am talking about the official approved way to play the games... Thanks so much for your input! Best Wishes, StevenX
-
@thomas = yes it does, i've said it before. Wonder why some people don't bother using search.
-
he's from holland... 'nuff said
-
yeah, that's what i do. works fine imo, but the problem is lugging around the drive... althought i think you can usually remove it once the game is running (at least w/ gta iv)
-
Or just crack the game once it's installed.
-
Is Borderlands worth £15?
-
Borderlands is awesome. If u like it, get the DLC! Tons of fun. It's one of the best RPG's I've ever played. Got about 100 hours of playtime so far.
E: Just download a crack to play games you have on CD. I don't think that's illegal. You could also try to register games on Steam, so you can download them. -
I apologise if it's been posted before, but what are the best settings for Mirror's Edge?
-
Does someone know if the m11x will play Red Dead Redemption?
-
haha, yeah. i'm too lazy to do that tho - plus gta iv isn't one of the easier games to crack...but yeah, for anything i else i'll use the no-cd fixes.
-
Isn't GTA4 almost impossible to play on an M11x? Oh, and there must be a product key somewhere on GTA4 to register it on Steam, so you can just download it.
-
imo it handles it well. it slows down in a few places (like when it's raining), but overall very playable.
ok, so it's not supported by steam. no biggie.
