I have been enjoying Grand Theft Auto 4 for the last 2 weeks and have it working in a stable, playable condition. The only time I ever really have major slowdowns is if its raining.

It looks much better on PC than console, but I sometimes have framerate drops in the T-bone junction, on my desktop. Its just bad optimized I think, I don't even have such low framerate drops in Crysis @1920x1080 Ultra High mod...

For the M11x, does anyone have an example of a game that you can enable physx on and see it in action? I dont care if the rest of the textures and details are in low but I want to see some examples of physx. Thanks! StevenX

Hey all, long time lurker. Proud new owner of m11x.

Have been playing Aion on max settings and getting about 60fps grinding/questing. Looks gorgeous. Did Dark Poeta instance, still smooth at about 30fps with 5 players going all out with skills etc.

Wont be going anywhere near fort seiges. Hoping to get some vids up soon!

So I got Metro 2033 going, nice graphics but I'm going to oc the cpu and see if that makes a difference. BFBC2 seems to run ok on this but I'll try later with the cpu oc'd

I have mine! It's very fast, I love it. Downloading Crysis now, I'm going to buy the Orange box too (I already have HL2 but who cares), and I'll try Anno 1404/Dawn of Discovery, Just Cause 2 and Fallout 3.

I recommend latest drivers for both those games.. only thing is you have to go discrete in bios and cannot use the intel gfx.. oh well worth it IMO.. gaming laptop means gaming power, screw intel graphcis!

@Thomas - I am curious to hear about anno/1701 dawn of discovery. We know the m11x will play fallout on all high, Just cause on low/med, hl2 on high. Nobody has commented on too many strategy games except (dow2, napoleon, supreme com2, star2). All of these looked great!

    Thanks!

I play WoW on high settings, but I turn my shadows down so fps is a bit smoother in dalaran, and I'm fine in 5 mans, okay in 10 mans but I ran a 25 tonight and my fps was ranging from 7-20ish. I even put all the settings on low but I get the same thing. Anyone have similar experience in 25man?

The only thing I upgraded from stock is 4gb of ram, nothing OC'd etc.

I'm using the 197.16, are you talking about those?
I turned it to descrete in the bios and it seems to be running great, I rarely use it on battery but if I do I can switch it back. Been playing BFBC2 and runs like a charm, only thing that gets hot is my left palm so I take it that's where the hard drive is?

@Rero - WOW (especially 25 mans) from what i understand are cpu limited. You can do lots of research but to save you the time it takes a much more powerful cpu to run those cleanly. I am not a WOW expert but i have seen this mentioned many times in these forums.

frozen arctic guy yeah the 197.16 drivers. I like them a lot.

on Batman AA did you turn physx off? maybe that'd help?

anyone have opinions on a good config to use for Crysis to get the most out the M11x and maintain 25+ FPS? Not sure what to use and a bit confused by all these configs and what not. Which settings etc? I've seen on the cudaats that there are different levels, which would be best? 2 or 3 maybe?

oh yeah I'm sure if you OC'd it would help a lot since that's the limiting factor here. Proven when I OC'd my GPU and only saw gains of like 1FPS haha. I'll mess around with the options then when I get a chance, you're talking about cudaats?

Ok folks.. Armed Assualt 2 or ARMA 2 or ARMA II. I installed it last night, applied the 1.05 patch and downloaded ARMA mark. I ran a benchmark with all settings at normal/medium (including shadows) with AA/AF disabled and got 1529 arma marks. This doesn't mean much to me. However I kicked on FRAPS and started up the main campaign. 30 FPS with everything on LOW/enabled in bootcamp. I keep a steady 16 to 25 fps in single player so far in night missions and in the forest... This is outstanding! If you dont know or haven't heard of this game google it. ARMA 2 It is way above CRYSIS on hardware requirements. The link below shows you what type of processors and comparisons it takes to stay at 30fps. I dont want to get too excited because I haven't tried MP yet. Probably will tonight if I can find a server. Best Wishes, Steven X

Hi guys, Been testing a few games since my M11x arrived. The Sabotuer was a game i really wanted to be able to play on the move as i work way alot. I ran it at 1280-720 med settings, shadows on, post filter on. it runs very smooth and looked good.

    Ok,

I run Just Cause 2 on native but also 1280x720,

I have the following settings (I don't get much better performance with lower res actually, I'll post some benchmarks tomorrow):
    Textures: High
    Objects: High(1280x720) medium (native)
    shadows: Medium
    water quality: Medium
    no AA
    decals on
    Motion blur off
the specular lighting thing (can't remember the name correctly) on

I get very smooth gameplay while flying or in the jungle, also in small villages or military bases, but in Panau City and other bigger places it drops to about 20, I actually did a benchmark in Panau City on 1280x720 and got 17fps average.

What to do to increase this? And is there much difference between objects low-med-high(is it the view range, ammount of objects or complexity of objects?)

    Will OC'ing improve my performance?

@apt2l - Gamebooster helps by closing unused services or processes. It helps... Lets say you are using 100mb ram and 7-9 percent of process power on useless stuff. Clearing that up makes a big difference.
@Thomas - I am dissappointed in Just Cause 2. I tried the demo and benchmark last week or so on my wifes m11x and was flattered by the demo.
I get my own m11x, purchased the full version, install it and it has 3 demos and let me tell you it is much harder to get a stable 20-30 fps on each. I have to set most settings to enabled but low or normal/medium. Then I can keep a stable > 20fps average. Overclocking CPU will increase performance. GPU I have no idea.

    Take Care,

    StevenX

I've been playing Mass Effect (1) for a while on the highest settings except the filtering. It runs smooth with some stutters every now and then. Anyone else also have this experience? From what Im reading I guess ME2 is a lot better optimized than part 1. Downloading Age of Conan now, hopefully an update about that tonight.

To me, ME2 feels like I'm playing an old game on a really fast computer. Everything is super fast and smooth. I also installed mass affinity which helps load with dual core cpu's. So fast.

@ stevenxowens792 Will do, but AoC takes forever to download! 12,1gb.. After about 4gb I discovered you don't have to download all the content, you can also just download the lvl1-20 area. But when I selected this it started all over :S

    2,8gb to go :p

Btw Oblivions runs great inside and outside with everything maxed out. And my system scored 635x on 3dmark06. ME doesn't run very good when downloading AoC, is that normal?

@Vortex - downloads take up processing power. So it will slow down... Check this out.. I just spent an hour at a book store playing Crysis Warhead on battery (set to max perf) and I still have well over an hour left on battery. Looked awesome. Turned a lot of heads. (dx10, 1280x720). I brought the laptop to work with me today just for that purpose. I love this m11x so far. My stock 3dmark06 score with only cpu oc is 64xx (can't remember last two). I have a screen shot and will post it when I get home and can connect to wifi (can't through work...)

Just Cause 2 "Concrete Jungle" Benchmark; this benchmark requires the most processing speed, I play the rest of the game at 20+ framerate with object on high:

    1280x720:

    native:

quite good. The other benchmarks are coming soon!

E: The CPU is OC'd. With no OC I had about 16FPS with the same settings 1280x720.

    @ Steven,

Same here, I took it with me to school today, had to do some work on a PC, and I also did a little gaming, Crysis and Just Cause 2, ultimate show-off :)! Oh, and you had a bad experience with Just Cause 2, well, as you can see, I'm running it quite good.

@thomas - have you played in game with those settings for Just Cause 2? The reason I ask is that I saw a video review with settings like yours and they had horrible frame rate drops once they reached a lot of enemies on screen plus buildings.
All - Anyone play DAWN OF DISCOVERY yet? ANNO 1404? Curious to see what that is like.

Best Wishes Everyone! It's the weekend so lets break out the games!!!!!!

Yes I play with these settings, and I also did a the benchmark in the desert, had 41,xx FPS, didn't make a screenshot but I'll do it now, and I'll copy Anno 1404 to my laptop, I just need to find a crack..

I was a bit worried because I also saw those video's, but it turned out MUCH MUCH better, I get smooth gameplay almost everywhere.

E: Desert sunrise benchmark NOTE: Object's are on high!

As promised Age of Conan :)

I just finished playing the very first part of the game (until I got into the first town called tortage). Settings to High, no AA, but I didnt touch the advanced settings yet (just wanted to play the game). But it runs great. Maybe a few stutters here and there, but only when walking into new areas. No slowdowns during combat etc. I guess the first part of the game doesnt really tell much, but it handles the start well. Much better graphics than WoW btw :p

Gonna try tweak some stuff now, also using fraps.

Tonight played ARMA2 again on the single player campaign. Rocks! Also played Just Cause 2. I am trying to get into the game. The graphics are great and it runs fine on the m11x. I am trying to decide what to load onto the laptop next... DOA is too large I think... Decisions... Decisions... StevenX

AZN - after os you are correct bout 40gb of space. I loaded Neverwinter Nights 2 last night and all patches. it is my favorite rpg game reallly. I like it better than dragons age of origins. It is more rpg and less compromise with consoles. Anyway fully loaded, all settings high/on/enabled except vsync off, aa off, af off. FPS in first village with fair (15-25). That first village is a good indicator on how its going to run. I am satisfied with the result! Plays just fine!
    Best Wishes,
