M11x Order Status Discussion Thread - Part 2

Not sure if anyone has this info, but I live in Las Vegas and was wondering if you knew where the system would be shipped from? I know I saw some people saying that theirs were in City of Industry but I wasnt sure if that was where they were manufactured and shipped from or if that was just their current location. Thanks in advance if anyone can answer this for me.

 

Ok. This one has me stumped. I just called 1-800-283-2210, which is Dell Financial. Hit option 3 to check order status. The recording told me the order was recieved on December 2nd (which is true) and then it told me that my order "shipped" on December 13th! Did I just fall asleep for a whole week or is Dell the master of time traveling?

 

You're welcome dude. Mine arrived at 6pm this evening. I have a follow up call with Dell tomorrow about all the screw ups that are going on as well. Should be fun.

 

If you dont mind me asking, when did you order your system?

 

26th, was told it was shipped early last week, then received shipping email on Friday, Fedex then told me they got the package on Saturday but without any billing or shipping information. Fedex got that information Sunday night and the system started to move yesterday.

Along the way I've put up with a whole bunch of lies and general crap from customer support.

To answer your previous question, they actually ship from various locations. I've seen some ship out from New York, others from California, mine from Nashville etc etc.

No rhyme or reason to it mate.

I can't go into detail here but rest assured that Alienware are very aware that Dell are giving their customers a hard time in some instances, and they are keen to get problems related to shipping, ordering, status and delivery fixed.

anyway, back to my new toy now. I honestly haven't had a chance to really use it yet. Within 5 minutes of it arriving I had the back off, disk out and was installing a new hybrid disk/ssd before starting the long slog of a clean install of everything.

Just got my m11x and guess what, its damaged... dell. The metal strip beneath the screen is all scratched up, the hand rest has weird black splotches all over it....This is just great, now I have to wait another 2 weeks to get my m11x. /rant

 

Wow. That sucks. Sorry to hear that man. Hopefully its not wide spread. Try and get expidited shipping and some free swag. QC issues are starting to get me worried.

 

Yea, I'm definitely gonna push for some free swag here, or at least faster shipping. I'm tired of dealing with this crap already.

 

Wow that's messed up bro, what is going on with Dell, are the alienware guys still assembling it or Dell hired high school dropouts to work on Alienware to assemble these things since Dell bought Alienware a few yrs back.

You know the ridiculous thing is you have to wait again until they replace it with another one. You have to right to demand IMO some compensation for wasted time such as free overnight shipping next time etc..

 

Thanks for the sympathy. What sucks the most is my mother is really paranoid about buying stuff online cause you can't physically touch it and examine its quality and she kept telling me to go buy a laptop in stores but the deals were horrid so I decided to buy online. I can't wait for the massive amounts of "I told you so!!!!!" I'm going to get. Btw, should I contact Dell or Alienware about this issue?

 

I don't think the warranty covers your mother's nagging.

Seriously, it looks like most people recommend contacting Alienware instead of Dell.

 

From the looks of things though, it looks like even though the AW service is faster, you can haggle with the Dell service for swag.

 

You always run the risk of something breaking or not being up to quality whether it's bought online or in person. Who hasn't returned something to the nearest computer store for example after getting it home and finding it doesn't work. Dell do seem to be having a higher than average percentage of problems lately though.

To answer the previous poster's question, the computers are assembled by Dell, but designed by Alienware.

 

Actually contact Dell about it, but then escalate it. If, after contacting Dell, you don't get anywhere, or don't get a satisfactory response, fire an email off to [email protected]. That's the issue escalation team. You will need to include your country of order, customer number, order number and any other pertinent information in that email for them to be able to get on the case rapidly.

 

Good luck with it going out the same day. My status said "Delivery Preperation" on a Monday, and it didn't get shipped until Friday. Mine shipped from Keasby, NJ.

 

I finally got mine today. Wow, that was a really long wait. But it's a great little machine. No noticeable defects on mine, no creaking hinges, no flex in the keyboard, no errant scratches, and it looks like it'll hold the overclock, at least through 5 rounds of linpack. Huzzah!

 

When did you originally place you order?

I ordered my M11x on 12/2
It's currently in Delivery Prep on the Recent order status page and it says in production on the spec list page. The delivery date says 12/16.
I ended up going with 8 Gig's of CL7 Gskill ram from Newegg
Will need to find an SSD at some point but not sure yet.

My intent is to have this thing ready for Swtor when it comes out and or I get to beta test. I will also be doing some Android programming and other things on it too.

 

I ordered mine on 12/2 as well. Mine still says a delivery date of 12/16. I spoke with a Dell rep earlier and she said that the ship date was on or before 12/13. I hoping they go out tomorrow.

 

I ordered my m11x on 11/30 and my estimated delivery date is 12/10. I found it weird it was still in the "production" stage considering it said I'm supposed to receive it tomorrow...So I called the alienware number someone posted on here and of course, I got routed to India. I told him what I just mention and before I could finish, he cut me off to say that there was a delay and that I won't receive it until 12/16...It was as if he just said that to get me off the phone and read script to use that response for everyone that calls about their order. The thing is that I payed for next day delivery which was 69 bucks.

 

I entered my reference number into Fedex's site. It says:

Anticipated ship date

Dec 9, 2010

Estimated delivery

Dec 10, 2010

Has anyone ever done this, and have receieved it on the estimated delivery date?

 

Woot! Just got my Fedex tracking number! Should have mine on 12/11. So excited!

 

That is possible depending on how close you live to where it was assembled. Dell quotes 5-7 business days for shipping regardless of where it is going. For example, they told me to expected delivery date was 12/16 when in reality it is 12/11 because I live close to where it was sent from.

 

I live in NJ; order is in Delivery prep currently, ordered it on 12/3.. edd on dell shows 12/17

 

I ordered mine on the 30th as well. All through yesterday I had been using the automated order status over the phone to check on the progress. It had been telling me it was in the build stage of production all the way through last night and estimated my shipping date was today(12/9) with a delivery date by monday (12/13). When I called today to use the automated system it was still telling me it was in the build stage of production, however it was not giving me the estimated dates anymore.

Finding this a bit odd I decided to talk to an actual rep. Of course I was transferred to India, but at least this was a person I could understand. Ultimately she told me that my order had been delayed as well and should ship out by the 16th with a delivery by the 20th. I paid for 2-day delivery.

 

Im not sure of the city's name but there is a manufacturing warehouse in NJ so its very possible that you will get it tomorrow. Have you recieved any tracking info from FedEx yet?

 

That sucks man. Hopefully the rep was incorrect and it shipped. Mine shipped today and I just got the email telling me it did. There website and phone service is WAY behind. Not up to date at all.

 

Nope just says delivery preparation on that status page (But I think that will change shortly, since your order just changed and you only ordered a day earlier than me). I only get my tracking number if I type in my reference number on Fedex's page.

 

Unfortunately me and you are in the same boat. Man I'm getting antzy here. I ordered the lunar shadow model though, how about you? I read that can make a difference in production time; but I couldn't see why because more people tend to get the cosmo black version. Keep me updated on your status buddy and I'll do the same. I'm in Florida, how about yourself?

 

I ordered the Cosmic Black. The person I spoke to on the phone said the reason for the delay was most likely due to the large amount of people ordering the laptop in recent weeks because of the Black Friday deal. She assured me that she would make sure I didn't experience another delay because she was going to submit some kind of form. That's good of her because if it does happen to get delayed again I'll be canceling my order most likely.

I'm really bummed because I have the new WoW expansion just sitting on the shelf unopened waiting to be played, but I have no computer to play it on right now. I live in Nashville.

 

I feel ya man. I ordered an OCZ SSD from new egg that gets here tomorrow. That's what I get for being optimistic thinking I'd get both on the same day

Correct. They still have to make all of the computers that people ordered towards the end of the deal though.

 

Just recvd an email today(12/10) from dell stating my m11x was delayed. I'll supposedly recieve it on or before 12/17...F.M.L!

 

Hurmm I didn't receive an e-mail stating it was delayed yet, but they did update my order status online to show that it will be delivered by the 20th instead of the 13th.

 

Anyone else find it really hard to pick the colour you want ? xD

i know what configurations to pick but when it comes to black or silver.... hmmm lol

is the silver good ?

or does it look more kinda grey ?

 

Black brings out the beauty in the lighting and makes it look sleek, Lunar Shadow hides the figerprints better and i manage to own both colors and the Lunar Shadow color gets boring after a while, Black is the way to go

 

DO NOT buy a black computer if you have children. Lunar Shadow does a damn good job of hiding finger prints.

 

yeah i keep thinking black will be better.. but when i see the silver with blue lighting ... looks great. i think the silver looks abit better when the netbook is open as well... because its got like a silver outline rather than just black on black


is it right that you can order from Alienware and return it after like a week of use and get full refund ?

because if i go for silver and hate it i can return. and also apparently Alienware drop the price to try and get you to keep the system

 

If that's true, I'm going to do the same thing if I end up not liking the silver. I went with lunar shadow because every notebook/netbook Ive ever owned has been boring black. The pictures of the lunar shadow model seems to show off the curves and angles of the m11x better, just like a silver and black car..and like everyone else said...no finger prints!

I don't want to buy now and find out in 30 days they have a new one and plus January sales ... a sale which might actually happen in the UK for once

 

Are you guys sticking your hands in vats of soap before typing????? I've seen a number of threads talking about cleaning the M11x, but I've had no problems with it. Admittedly it's only just been a few days, but no finger print problems at all on my 'stealth' M11x, and obviously having just arrived it's been used a *lot*.

 

I'm pretty happy with the deal I received on the 2nd. 608.83 after shipping and taxes for a M11xR1 new with bluetooth added. If all goes well with my M11x R1 when it arrives I suppose the only thing I will have to be concious of is the Hinge issue everyone has mentioned.
I have had very good luck with my laptops since I am good at taking care of tech. My Gateway 7805u has been upgraded by me but never had any issues and rocks the 1920 by 1200 screen with a T9900 3 Gig dual core processor. I don't expect the M11x to be able to game at the same levels but I do have high hopes that I will be able to play DCUO, SWTOR, EQ, and wow on the thing with little issue.

 

New here. I ordered a Cosmic Black M11x with 4GB ram on the 4th and just received my shipping notice this morning with estimated delivery of the 16th.

 

Hopefully yours doesn't get delayed like mine did. I was supposed to recieve mine yesterday but ended up getting an e-mail saying I'll receive it on the 17th...ain't that a ***** if you get yours before me,lol

 

How in the world can you have an estimated delivery date of the 16th when mine is on the 20th? I ordered on the 30th of November.
