It does keep the switching functionality, since it's from Dell.
Here it is. *LINK*

OK some update on my post.
I have reinstall it again and it works properly.
Cheers ! -
Hi everyone, New to this forum.
I am following this thread since I have a M11x.
The new Dell drivers are a blast. I Won 3 FPS on the benchmarking tool of Dawn of war 2 (17.68->20.93fps).
With native resolution, medium presets.
Hope it is the same in every game. -
grr.. so i can't get the download manager of dell to work :| i know i can probably delete cookies.. but how can i make the download manager work -_-;
Whenever i click download it makes me redownload the manager.. and that's not what i want! -
There are two download options; choose the one that's just through the browser and without that download manager.
-
Any benchmarks with the new drivers?
-
yeah i know i have that option.. but i don't want to delete my cookies :/ .. because once you click one it stays that way..
anyway to just make that manager work? -
just use another browser to download the driver without download manager
-
Everything's fine after that. -
well i got it to install .. fan problem still persists.. :/.. for those who got rid of that problem did you guys do anything special to install it?
Mine shuts off though at a certain time.. then turns on again later on.. -
so i noticed something else, if i switch to intel from discrete using Fn + F6 my clocks go down on gpu-z to 135 135 210, but if i go to intel from discrete using the icon in the notification area it reads my clocks at zero and only sees core and memory no shader. just thought i would let you know.
don't know if it means anything, just thought it was odd. -
some noob technical question
i just had my M11X last night, haven't do anything to it, still new
so i just downloaded 197.12 and ready to install it, do i have to uninstall the current Dell Driver that came with my M11X 1st? or is it fine to just overwrite the current Driver by just installing 197.12 without uninstalling the current one?
thanks
oh and do we have to be in Discrete when installing this? or doesn't matter if we're in IGP as well? -
I just installed it without uninstall the current one.
Unless on Dell installation to unistall current drivers first, I'll just follow their instructions.
"Install" hahaha
so far mine is good. fan no longer runs on inifinite intervals of on and off.
It actually adjusts from low, mid to high.
but I have to say, the fan almost constantly stays on low. but it was extremely hot in my room (no AC yet) -
Be sure to run a driver cleaner. And uninstalling prior to instalation is proably not a bad idea.
-
-
Driver Sweeper is a good free one. Google it and download from Guru3D.

stevenxowens792 Notebook Virtuoso
Got my first error with 197.12 beta drivers. Trying to run windows assessement. WINSAT.exe - Bad Image (Window Title) Error c:\windows\system32\NVCOD1910.DLl is either not designed to run on windows or contains an error.
Any ideas? This is repeated after multiple reboots. Thanks! StevenX -
haven't seen that, I suggest uninstalling and reinstalling them
-
Alright, installed the new drivers and now my 335 doesn't turn off when I switch. GPU-z still sees it and the clocks don't go down. Oddly enough, CUDA and PhysX and the like are disabled.

i dont know what is wrong here either
i have my XPS 13 download the same file through the Dell Download Manager, and it works ( even without having to add to the download list )
but in my M11X, the Download Manager says there are no download list even if i manually added it to the list
in fact, this is a very new M11X, without anything still installed, and my Firefox is also just in use for the 1st time, definitely not cookies problem or anything
it must be from Dell, but my XPS13 does it.. i don't know.
but i have another question
my M11X is pretty new and i havent really did anything with it, so is driver cleaner really necessary at this stage?
also, now that i want to uninstall the current Nvidia Driver before i install the 197.12
do i have to be in Discrete or it's fine to be in IGP mode?
and also when installing the 197.12, in Discrete or IGP mode?
thanks -
The only thing I did was hotkey switch to the Nvidia 335m and uninstall the Nvidia drivers. Then rebooted into safe mode and ran Driver Sweeper. Then I rebooted back to normal Win 7 and installed the driver.
-
so say im in the safe mode, i run Driver Sweeper, and then a list of drivers comes up, is it safe to just check all of them and sweep (remove) them?
because i believe when i run Sweeper, there are gonna be a bunch of em displayed and im not the cleverest guy in these kinda thing, so i wont know what driver each of them is for unless the driver name is clear like "Nvdia Driver" etc2 with names
but this Driver Sweeper only find the "left over unused Driver" right? it's not like it's gonna list all the currently in use drivers ? -
If you have problems downloading through the dell "download manager" then just go and delete all your cookies, and try again to download it straight through the browser. Just for future use. I've found the dell "download manager" pretty much useless and never works for me. I just go into the browser and delete all browser history, temp files, cookies ect. Then I'm able to download through the browser and I don't select the download manager.
-
just installed 197.12 BETA
some people suggest that while the GT335 isnt completely off, but it's not actually running anymore and fan would stop
but my fan kept spinning and battery life are not going up, i have to use the old method of putting it to sleep 1st
so everyone getting this or do their fan actually stop or? -
These driver cleaning utilities list all possible drivers it can clean, not what it detects to clean. Only select the ones you know you uninstalled and are trying to clean such as in this case Nvidia display drivers and physx.
-
I'm still trying to figure out if this is an improvement for FPS. -
damn i dont know what i did wrong here
so i just wanna play safe as for now, so what i did was, i uninstall the Nvidia Driver through the Device Manager and i also "check" the option for "delete the driver software for this device" although i dont know what is the difference if i check or uncheck it
so it was uninstalled, and then rebooted and install the new 197.12 then reboot
but once im in, i couldnt do switching because the Intel Chipset thing is gone ( the graphics mode arrow thing on the task bar ) so FN+F6 wont change my graphics
then i system restore it to the previous point and i try to just install the Driver without uninstalling the current one
it works then, but my fan wont stop spinning where some people say it would
-
can anyone list out the clear steps and proper steps from uninstalling the old driver to installing the new drivers and cleaning the drivers.. thank you
list down what am i supposed to download besides the driver from dell website, 197 version. what about physx cuda and sort of things? do i have to download and install them as well after updating? hehe... really hope some kind ppl will list down nicely and the proper step-by-step procedure to update this driver.
im a newbie and worried that i may end up screwing up my system after updating the drivers.. and please list down what are the effects of updating the drivers. eg unable to switch back to intel and etc etc..
now im using the old driver, i have this issue of fan not able to stop. it keeps spinning even though i just switched on my laptop after a good night's sleep with the intel accelerator graphics. so, if updating the graphic drivers can help solve this issue, i'l give it a try
and thanks in advance for the step-by-step tutorial for newbies like me. Thanks alot -

Hi everyone. New M11X owner and first time posting here. I'm having a problem. I have been installing Office, Kaspersky, and the drivers directly from NVIDIA, but when I restarted the computer after these installations, the resolution changed to 800x600, and when I tried accessing the NVIDIA control panel, it told me "You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU". It also won't let me push FN+F6 to change between performance modes. What do I do? Sorry if this has been asked before. I asked in the Owner's Lounge before I saw this topic, so please excuse the double post.
-
Don't use the ones from Nvidia unless you intend to use lksing78's method.
I updated the first post of this thread and the links are there as well. -
2) press F2 to enter BIOS
3) find the Graphics option
4) change from "Switchable" to "Discrete"
5) reboot
u should be fine after that, but u will not be able to switch between IGP and GT335m. if u want the latest GT335m from Nvidia with the benefit of switching to the IGP, browse a few pages back from lksing78's method to create a new hybrid driver. -
Gave the new drivers a try and I have to say I'm not impressed. Un-installed the old drivers, Rebooted to Safe Mode, Ran DC pro to clean the files, Rebooted, installed new, rebooted once more, Then tested. Drivers would cause 0x000000116 Blue Screens at random when playing any fullscreen game like WoW. Switched back, BSOD gone... I guess thats the fun of beta drivers!
-
I don't know why are you guys making so much more complicated than it actually is. I just installed the new drivers over the old one and they work just fine...
-
Used lksing78's cut and paste method the day before the beta was released and im more than happy with the results. Cant see the point in updating(if you can call it that) for now.
Cheers lksing78 -
-
So guys if I am not experiencing any issues with the drivers that I am using is it worth up dating to the beta ones or should I leave it for now?
-
If everything works well, I wouldn't. I don't feel any major change, except the fact that you can switch between modes on the taskbar as well as with Fn+F6. There are few games that didn't work with the previous version of drivers. Supposedly they also add a little bit to the performance but I haven't really tested it, and don't notice anything different.
-
If you aren't already having problems beforehand, why the heck are you running "file cleaners" and crap?
I seriously question the tech cred of all these people running driver sweepers and crap as part of their regular driver upgrade routine. If you were playing around with the hacked drivers and had reason to believe that there may be problem, then I'd be a little more understanding but, even then, I'd wait until I had a problem before doing anything that makes more changes than needed. Obviously, the official drivers, beta or otherwise, are meant to install over the other official drivers. Obviously, the process Microsoft provides should work for installing over any driver. These things exist because that often fails but tinkering too much is only going to cause such failures. -
For noob like me
If u really have to uninstall ur old driver just uninstall them from Control Panel
there no need to use other 3rd party software to do them..and end up getting BSOD ,or other alien error. -
In a perfect world where the uninstall program does not have any bugs certainly we don't have to use driver cleaners.
Also remnants of old drivers mixed in with new drivers often cause unexpected behavior. -

I thought the default 188.x didn't have hardware flash support while the 197.12 betas do. That could be another reason to update.
