Haha, maybe so! Someone ring dell and offer them £700 and let us know how they get on!

Well the 16GB RAM upgrade from Dell is $1,000 so I think it's safe to say that alone has jacked up the price and is responsible for the overcharging. Someone should try talking a Dell rep into letting it go as the base 4GB model.

Not in New Zealand. Think they may have killed it in NZ so it doesn't compete at a low/same price point as the Ultrabooks. Dell Ultrabooks are WAY overpriced considering they don't even have a discrete GPU... just so you can have a Dell premium priced SSD in it.

The 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i5 processor, Memory 4GB, 256GB Solid State Drive, XPS 13 Ultrabook costs more than the M11xR3 did.
And you don't even get an HDMI port or discrete GPU on the XPS 13 Ultrabook as noted in the tech specs.

Buy an all powerful M11xR3 or a humble XPS 13 Ultrabook.... well Mr hand sock, what do you think. I know you don't have a brain, but I still think you know the answer.

This is just pure insanity and profit mongering.

Signed: Grumpy old man from NZ.

What I meant is I built the exact same spec machine online and it cost £200 less so there's clearly a mistake.

Haha, that made me laugh! And you've probably hit the hyperthetical nail on the head!

I was just about to write how the one ceuotc has posted will go quick, however I checked the link and it's already gone! The same seller often has them available at good prices so save that seller and keep checking back.

Thanks for that but I'm working so I can't react fast :D I will check this seller till tuesday and if he's not gonna put something more like that I will buy from the previuos seller. Just tell me is it worth extra £100 for i7 ? Because I'm not really shure that I want to spend more than £800.. i5 £689, i7 £789 from eBay. Thanks guys.

Personally I wouldn't bother with the i7 and most will agree. It isn't optimised well enough and is mostly a waste.

I would pay the extra £100 for the I7 not the £300 Dell were charging though. It gets an extra 1000 points in 3dmark which is 1/3 extra on what the I5 gets and sits on par with a 720QM quad core which is pretty immense, but because it is a ULV you cannot expect too much from it the additional 500mhz when both cores are active will help in intensive games however or badly optimised ones.

Thanks for replies. Ok I still have few days to decide between Mac and Windows.. and the biggest reason why I'm deciding so much is gaming.. whole my life I was Windows user and yea there was a moments when I was just completely pissed off but that's fine. I don't know how much I will miss games if I'll go for Mac.. I just want a small, rigid machine which last for me two.. ok atleast one year as my main machine and will make me happy with it. Sorry for English.. it's not my main language. And I have some worries about buying refurbished.. But the seller said that is Manufacturer refurbished and condition like new.. But I still can't stop worrying about that if something gonna be wrong.

Not sure how going with Mac would make you less pissed off. Mac has a whole new set of frustrations.

Mac is like a filthy word. Mods should punish people with infractions for using it ;)

You have 3 choices in your case. The clevo/sager 11 inch model, the M11x R3 or the M14x R2.

Apple is Skynet anyway if you choose to go with them you are supporting the robot invasion which will eventually destroy the earth.

Thanks for offering Sager/Clevo but I'll skip them.. I have nothing against them but just personally I don't like their design.. Just the awesome spec, nothing more. And I can't underatand why Apple just drives me crazy when I'm thinking about it. :) Seems like it's only a nice user interface and ease of use..

Then pick up an R3 fast then as they are dropping off the shelves quick now.

I still love mine to pieces and enjoy it more and more the longer I have it, it was one of the best purchases I have made and I am so glad I got it when I did as I have not seen a deal like the one I got since. Dell are shifting their old stock in the UK but they seem to be making the most of the profit.

To celebrate my 4000th post ;) do yourself a favour buy an R3.

hmm ya know i actually like the look of it. dont get me wrong i am perhaps one of the minority that love everything about the m11x except the daft stupid sd card slot. aside from that it does everything i need and looks pretty nice to boot (although this is quite a personal taste thing and i know quite a few people dont like the design). one thing i do know is i woud not be laying down my hard earned coin for anything made by the cult of apple. i have always disliked the hype that surrounds the products and the daft people that camp outside a shop for weeks just to buy a consumer item. talk about just plain silly.

however i wouldnt buy the sager because it lacks one thing i simply cant live without now... the backlit keyboard. i mean they should be standard in all laptops full stop after all it cant be that expensive to implement.

as it is i am sticking with the r1 simply due to the fact that it hasnt failed me yet in anything i have thrown at it including video and photoshop editing and the few bethesda titles i play.

i am like most here gutted that they have discontinued it but i am also of the mind that dell will make something similar. until they do i will hang tight and wait. i was going to buy an r3 but as i say the r1 does all i need and ultimately the r3 isnt a massive step up especially now given that it is a year old and the tech is already obsolete... you know what i mean not obsolete obsolete but simply outdated if you get my drift. also the i5 the only model i would buy is already no longer sold by dell (i7 is too expensive and the i3 just doesnt seem to be worth the financial outlay).

i will sign the petition but i dont think dell will be changing there minds. seems like a daft business decision to me given that they already have a strong customer base with all the r1 2 and 3 owners many of whom would upgrade (myself included) given the chance. oh well.

I'm still loving my R1, just put an SSD in it and its like brand new life! I would like a little more punch in it just so that I could actually do some real debugging on it when I'm trying to develop on the go, but it gets me by in a pinch ;)

I also need to be able to run Linux on dedicated GPU so the R1 is ideal for me, as Linux still has issues with optimus :(

    Optimus is the devil....

I dont want it on anything... I have it set to not turn on with my x51... but I wish I could put a core2 extreme into it and do away with the i5 thats in there.

Yeah, the r2 was garbage in my eyes.

But, I like having manual control over my gpu.

The only new laptop I would choose is the m17xr3 with 3d... optimus is not a option when it comes to the 120 hz screen.

    But, I am in search of a nice clean m17xr1 with a core2 and a 260m.

Dont buy a refurb from ebay.

The guy your buying from, just got the computer off Dells site, then marked it up for you to buy.

Just wait it out on dells outlet and you will get a better deal.

Ahh confused again and lost my mind already :) What else can be wrong buying from eBay refurbished alienware if the seller said that this is refurbished by Dell and comes in original Dell packaging, accept returns, have good feedback, some of them are who bought m11x from them and saying that they are business partners of Dell.. And it comes with 1 year Dell warranty service.. If you saying that because of the price, it's ok I don't worry if I overpay getting from eBay instead of Dell. And I'm tired already from waiting till something comes up on Dell Outlet.. I'm checking it every single day and every two or lesa hours. Thanks for everybody.

It is going to be a higher price and they just say it comes with a warranty because it is Dell's warranty. Sellers on Ebay commonly buy something then mark it up at a higher price and sell it on, if you are happy to pay the price then fine but if you waited you could probably get a better deal buying from Dell Outlet direct.

Link the item you looking at please.

Also something to keep in mind when buying from ebay, I have purchised refurbs on ebay, and they did NOT come with a warranty. They had a warranty, but it was in someone elses name so I was unable to get any repairs done. They didnt have the info on file of who it was under either so I couldnt transfer it.

i agree with ejohnson. ebay resllers are simply buying from the outlet then marking the price up. it is a rip off. i also agree get the m11x r3 as there is no point now getting any other model ie r1 or r2. however that said the m14x that you linked to is a very good price for what you are getting and i would be tempted to buy that. however i bought the m11x cos it is just that 11 inches not 14 and i wanted a small pretty powerful yet highly mobile laptop not a mid sized desktop replacement (albeit one that can easily be moved around).

your call mate but what i wouldnt do is buy the r3 off ebay do as suggested and wait till dell restock them or buy the m14x if that is what you want.

edit: ha i only saw one m14x meaning one has alreadty been snapped up. maybe you already made up your mind???

If the M11x R3 was new that Ebay one is a very good deal the I7 over here is £999 brand new so that does look quite tasty to be honest. Depending on how refurbished it is, you should still be able to get an I5 for much cheaper.

The M14x is a bloody bargain, I would nab one up if I was deciding between the two at this moment in time ;)

I Checked outlet again after your post and now both gone !! Damn

Edit: one of them back in stock, maybe grab this ? There is no Outlet vouchers at this time ?

Finally! after a long desicions I placed an order on m14x refurbished from dell for a bargain £680 as you guys saying :) I hope I'm not gonna regret it. Would you recommend buying an SSD 128GB straight away as well as 8gb ram ? And is it worth buying Killer wireless from eBay ? Because in this what I ordered is Intel wireless 1000. About SSD which brand is the best at this time. Thanks ;)

An SSD is a great addition to any machine although dont believe it's a necessity! I would go for 8gb ram and if you intend to play a lot of multiplayer games online then the killer is again very good. I have it in my r3 and it's spot on!

8GB RAM won't help much unless you have tons of stuff running in the background. 8GB is so cheap though (well maybe not Dell's pricing) but so cheap and easy to upgrade it shouldn't even be a consideration. SSD is absolutely the best upgrade you can do at the moment, and with qualtiy 256GB ones running about $200 now, there's no reason not to.
