    To my knowledge the USB ports are just soldered to the mobo and is not held in place to the chassis. With a little force the entire mobo will lift right out problems free. As for the soldering of the ports, well, they look fairly sturdy, just your standard mobo workmanship.

    @vilosa

    I've noticed that you have gotten rid of M11x under your signature. Does that mean you sold it? I was hoping to see that mod you had in mind :(

    I'm giving the M11x to my fiancee since she travels to classes etc and needs the battery life; gives me an excuse to play with a new toy...M15x! I will still be modding it, updating this thread, and answering questions etc.

    Good to hear that! lol
    Isnt M15x priced considerably more than M11x? I'd like one of those but they are extremely expensive! :(

    Nice. I got hit with another "Canadian premium fee" on m11x-- I paid $1280 for it.

    Off-topic, how well does the Razer xact mat work for you? Do you think it would be a good mat to take around with?

    I tackled this project last night, everything went pretty ok...

    I got it all taken apart and started cleaning the old paste off... dell was pretty messy about it. There was paste under the little stick on cover things that go around the edges of the chips. So I cleaned that all off and put some artic silver on there. Put it all back together and my lights didnt work :(. Took off the palm rest and reseated the cables, works again :)

    First impression right now is that the fan doesnt really come on as much as it used to.... I would hear the fan spin up every 30 seconds or so and it would run for awhile.

    So now my little baby is all cleaned up, new paste, new 750gb drive, fresh OS, new killer wifi card. Just need to get some nice ram chips to toss in and I will have a top of the line r1 :)

    Lol try not the quote a whole page of pictures, I don't mind personally, but the mods might not like it as much.

    Graphs are generated my OCCT and the other programs are CPU-Z and Realtemp.

    I believe CPU-Z will only read the current GPU. You can also use GPU-Z to read both available GPUs.

    noted you only applied aftermarket TIM to the GPU and CPU; is there any specific reason why the chipset was omitted?

    thinking about applying some ICD7 on everything (much like my 7805u) after attempting the pinmod on my m11x R1....

    thanks

    Been a while since I had the M11x but I do believe that the chipset uses a thermal pad that was rather thick. TIM would not work in this case due to the excess space between the heatsink and chipset.
