Hi Guys,
I just got my m11x R2. I posted some pics here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m11x/492304-pictures-videos-m11x-r2-2.html#post6361509
Now to get back to work

I am sure it will scale up, but no M11X is going to run it higher than a mix of med high at playable frame rates. The GPU will hold us back, just not enough stream processors and GPU bandwidth to turn effects and shaders up. -
Just reordered got it for $897 out the door w/ next day air.
config: i7-640UM, 4GB DDR3, 160GB, Bluetooth -
So instead of VGA what output does it have in its place? I have my R1 connected to 2 - 28" external monitors using hdmi and vga. What option with the R2 do I have for 2 external monitors?
update: will this work? http://www.amazon.com/Premium-Black-DisplayPort-Female-Adapter/dp/B002CSRFD8/ref=pd_cp_e_1
Can i have both monitors hooked up to hdmi ports? -

Hey guys I just got a really good deal on new M11xR2 i7 with 4gig ram and 250 hd for 925 including tax and shipping. However I'm now debating on canceling my order and getting the envy 14 when it comes out. I play bf2bc and call of duty world at war, modern warfare 2. I'm afraid I wont be able to play these games on high settings after seeing other's post there fps with the new m11xR2 version. Also looks like battery life has been lost alittle and where the envy 14 is 7 hours versus 5. Or if you add the envy slice battery it also adds another 7 hours making it 14. I'm worried about heat issues though on the envy 14 so thats kinda of holding me back. I'm also used to playing on my 24inch dell monitor so going to 11 inchs may seem a bit small. Anyone else in the same situation as me please chime in I need to figure this out before it ships. I just wish the envy 14 was out so I could see the reviews on it.
-
Edit** If this your only computer, the Envy 14 might be a better option with its 1600x900 screen option. I already have a 24inch LCD with a power house desktop so this my surf the net and play games on the couch/down-stairs when I do not feel like using my main desktop. For most who are buying the R2, they fall into this category. -
Any further posts re: the BOEING EPP CODE will be removed. Do not continue to take this thread OT.
PM me if you have any questions or want to comment. -

would the m11x be about the same size as the envy 13 -
An Envy 13 is not an option due to the weak gpu, an ATI 4330
-
Bleh if it doesn't update to a different shipping date this week (and stop denying that they are shipping) I will probably cancel and just get the Envy 14...waiting a month for this is just stupid and dell needs to get their priorities in order rather than just sending random orders out.
Edit: I know I'm sounding like a "negative nancy" and I should just "wait for it" but I really hate how dell is handling all of this. -
I used AAFES to order my M11X and ordered it for $900 back in Feb. Normal config price at the time was $1,094. -

You guys are crazy. The battery life will not be 3 hours

I'm looking at possibly purchasing one of these laptops. Currently I have an Asus EEE PC 1000HE Netbook. Unfortunately for some of the things I like to do and for work, the Atom CPU blows big time. The redeeming factors of the netbook are the size and battery life (This one is advertised at 9.5 hours, definitely does not get that hehe). I was looking for something with a bit more umph behind it, but still had good battery life. So I was looking around Dell's website and found these little gems. Intel IGP + Nvidia and OC'able CPU as well. Battery life seems it is pretty decent when not using for gaming. I was thinking this might be a great choice so that I also have a portable gaming laptop with me most of the time. The HP HDX I have now is a monster 18" laptop that is cumbersome to always have around and battery life sucks horrid on it( I knew that though when getting it). I don't think I could replace the HDX and netbook with this guy go, I use the laptop on my desktop constantly along side of my desktop of which both have 1900 resolutions.
Games I do play right now on the desktop are WoW, Borderlands, and sometimes something from my Steam library which has all Source, ID software, and Unreal games currently out there. I was more or less wondering should I stick with the C2D or got for either the i5 or i7in the M11x? Any of them will be leaps faster than my netbook for sure. I don't overly mind having to carry a power cable with me, I do already with the netbook as I forget to charge it at night. xD
The M11x just seems to give me a lot more options in a small laptop, still decent battery life when doing web stuff and what not for work, and when it is time to play I can switch everything over and hop on WoW or something.
Not sure on the CPU as stated above, but going for 4GB of RAM, probably 500GB hard drive (I will probably replace it myself depending on how much my Dell rep gives me off), BT and the normal stuff. Any thoughts? -

I just called dell again asking about why my edd was in july. I got a much more helpful person this time; they said there were no back ordered parts and she would expidite my order to be updated
-
What kind of screen does the M11X R2 uses? It's RGB LED right?
-
WLED, same as r1 (I think it's the same, def. WLED)
-
I did a chat on the EPP site and they said there's no option to expedite the order. -
I'd say get the crappy HD and drop a momentus xt 500gb in there, they are 136$ shipped from newegg and faster than what dell offers as their 500gb (I think it's a non XT momentus dell packs in) -
You really need to get on top of them about it it took took calls and a lot of pursuasion. Ask questions like "why is my laptop delayed and others arent? what makes mine so special that it needs WEEKS more? Are there back ordered parts? If not can you update my edd status?"
That should get you going. -
Thanks, I was wishing for an RGB LED...

Np guys. I know you guys probably want your laptops as much as i do.
-
What are the best optimizations to Make to the R2 can many be ported across from the R1 optimizations?
-
Is it worth upgrading to the I7? Or can i still get good performance out of the I5?
-
-
so can you guys say that its not necessary to get the r2 , is the r1 good enough ? What about Battery life??? has the R1 better battery life???
really?? or is it only speculation yet!!!!
thanks for the answer -
-
I own r1 and r2. If you just want it for gaming and it isnt your main machine, or you dont do any super demanding tasks other than gaming, get the r1. May as well go su4100 as well.
Games run great on it. -
-
Do you think the ExpressCard Sound Blaster X-Fi laptop Sound Card from Creative is a huge improvement over the stock?
-
-
Will a GTX 280M fit in this machine?
How comparable is the GTX 260M to the GTS 335M ? -
nice plan !!!!
Batterie life is the most important thing for me, but I want to play TBOGT on my m11x. can I play it on the R1 ?? But anyway nice plan with the xbox slim. you are right!!!

-
You can't upgrade, so get what you want now. -
I dont think we can go around making statements such as the c2d and the i7 being the same until we see some more benches. An upgrade to the i5 yielded a jump of 1000 3d marks in another thread I think.

I think the mods are deleting all posts about coupons, so it might be best to look elsewhere
-
I've had my M11x hooked up via HDMI, and it rocks the house. Don't waste your cash. -
