I'm an EPP member and with available coupons, etc *Plus being in the Military* I can get the nearly the same deal.
-
Or you could, you know, just tell us how you got such a good deal instead of giving vague clues like "just research slickdeals" and "anyone can do it." I'm searching all of the slickdeals site and not finding anything for getting the i7 for such a low price. Also I'm pretty sure as long as you don't post EPP codes you'll be fine...
-
^ it's not about the codes anymore. You'll have to lie about being apart of this company to receive the discount and since I'm a legitimate EPP member of this company, I won't support it.
-
He said anyone can do it and that he thinks he's not allowed to discuss it on these forums even though a bunch of people have brought up the boeing discount.
I don't know what else it could be though since the lowest I've been able to get his config down to is $1015.83.
And I'm guessing you'd probably be opposed to maybe helping me get said discount since I think it's good for friends and family? -

Just wanted to post that the order I placed on 6/8/2010 for a R2 i7 (w/ Soft Touch, 500GB, Gobi At&t) was shipped today. Had an ETA of 7/6/2010.
Hope this helps anyone with ETA's in that area. -
I figured it couldn't hurt to ask. Thanks anyway.
-
Okay, here's what I was told when I ordered my m11x...
You can't lie about the boeing employee because they need to send a verification e-mail to the employee and have them return it. That's the only way to get the boeing discount. I have a family member that works at wright patterson air force base but not at the boeing dept. and I tried to see if I could get the same discount for being at an air force base and they said no. Although they did give me 12% off instead of the usual 10%, which was nice. -
FYI Dell is probably showing tracking info unavailable if your order is EPP. Go to fedex.com, click track by reference. Plug in your order # as the reference. My M11x was picked up at 8am this morning from Nashville TN, which would have reached me tomorrow anyway even with ground shipping. -
I've already placed my order last week so it's no big deal for me. Just assumed you'd want to help other people who have also mentioned not being able to find anything on slickdeals. -
-
Just got an email from Dell, mine has been shipped. I had checked the ship date last night and it was still 7/7 so this was a bit of a surprise.

Maybe there is a student discount?
-
I got your back, midgetdiablo.
i7, 4gb ram, 160gb 5400 rpm, and no bluetooth option for $853 is definitely possible.
I know this for a fact because my total was $873 with the exact same specs, except I got BT for, you guessed it, $20.
Work backwards-- on the EPP site, this order comes out to be $1149 on the website (without any discounts).
$1149 - Boeing 21% ($241.29) = $907.71
$907.71 - $100 off coupon = $807.71
$807.71 + ~$45-50 tax (automatic free shipping is guaranteed. Anyone who thinks that their agent did them a favor by offering free shipping is an idiot) = $852.71 to 857.71.
Ta-da.
p.s.: I hope I helped anyone who's trying to order on the last day of the Boeing 21% off discount! -
Always beat me to it... -

I think we need a moderator to come into this forum and clean up this mess. So many R2 requests for benchmarks, movies, pictures, numbers, in so many threads, and the coupons thing is like a seperate discussion.

Hey all,
I've been reading the m11x R2 thread for a week and a half trying to decide on whether to buy an m11x or not and the last thing I wanted facts on was the battery life. I was able to speak with a marketing rep at the Alienware booth at E3 yesterday about the battery life on the new i5 and i7 m11x models and here's what I found out.
Disclaimer: These are still just stats from a well informed source, but since it seems folks are starting to get their new m11xs this week, I would certainly love to see some real world results posted for sure.
These are the foundation stats (ie. wont get worse then this) for an i5 / i7 m11x fully charged and then unplugged.
- Normal laptop mode both the i5 and i7s last around 5 hrs to 5 hrs 30 min.
- Non stop gaming mode equals around 2 hrs / 2 hrs 30 min.
- The less memory in your m11x helps improve the battery life; so 2 gigs is better then 4 gigs, and 4 is better then 8, etc.
- SSD HDDs also effect the battery life in a positive way of course, but the savings seems to only be a little better then the memory savings mentioned above.
- The battery life is worse on the i5 / i7 by a couple hours...but
- The performance is increased and is noticeable.
- If money isn't an option, then you might as well trick out your m11x with what you want.
- If money IS an option then rest assured that performance with the i5 and 4 gigs of memory or whatever will be fine.
-
I immediately noticed better battery life when I swapped out a 500GB 7.2k for an Intel SSD. -

I haven't ordered thru EPP for a while, deals usually end up being better without EPP, except AW I guessNone of my past EPP orders ever showed tracking info or associated with my account (still isn't), which is how I found out about track by reference.

Woot on 100 pages
Theres some interesting benchmarks getting posted on the m11x benchmark thread. Still no pics anywhere. -
Soooo apparently the reason some people are getting them and others aren't is there is an LCD shortage or something....
-
Looking at the clips from E3 is exciting, but at the same time seeing new games like assassins creed brotherhood, crysis 2, portal 2 , CoD 7 , I mean will the m11xR2 even be able to play these on low? And not to mention everything will be going 3d....
PS I know, its a netbook, not a full on desktop.. Even still.. -
In other words, the R1 already runs all those games fine, so the R2 should also. -
Thankyou for the quick response. I guess I should have done some research..
I remember now reading somewhere that crysis 2 would be less demanding, but looking at it , that is hard to believe. As for the others, well that's damn good to know
Cheers
-
^ maybe it's less demanding to be able to get running and fully enjoy it at decent framerate, but if you got the hardware, guessing it will scale well up to high performance machines? just a guess.
-
When you said crysis2 is less demanding, you mean less demanding GPU or CPU?
-
It should be less GPU demanding, and possible also CPU demanding. More optimized. -
