That feature wasn't present in the control panel until something like 259.xx.

Tried finding a post about this on the thread, but is anyone else having trouble with HDTV desktop resizing? My desktop is cropped out and the option is there but it won't let me select it...

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by cropped out or what option you're referring to. Perhaps a little more detail?

    R1? R2?
What resolution are you attempting to run your HDTV at?
What Intel and nvidia driver versions?

I think you are an R2 user, based on the last line. The option would be in the Intel GMA Control Panel, since the Intel GPU is the one that drives all the display outputs.

I'm trying to add programs to the NVIDIA whitelist but when I select the .exe file, I'm not seeing the "Apply" button that everyone is talking about.

Anyone experience this? If so, do I need to reinstall my drivers, or what?!

i recently downloaded the community drivers and they work perfectly so far. =D
i tested it with Battlefield:Bad company 2 and i already played a total of 6 hours with no problems. however, im a little disappointed in Nvidia, as they have proven unreliable after delaying the driver release date about three times now.. and to see that the community beat them to it makes me wonder what the company is doing over there...

    Hello,
My issue is that I am no able to play D3D or DirectX games on my secondary lcd monitor! I have made the LCD monitor the primary screen. The games work fine on the laptop screen. If the vga output is only Intel graphics it would be very disturbing!
Is there a fix for it? I have lastest drivers. Is this a problem that is going to be solved?

    Thanks

Latest beta drivers still kick me from BF2142, even after manually updating Punkbusted files.

Can you explain if you have an R1 or R2. I don't remember the R2 having a vga output only displayport and hdmi.

Report that Nvidia MassiveOverkill. I know the latest drivers are still having huge punkbuster problems. Try the modded 266.44 drivers from Kopicha.

Sorry I don't know what R1 and R2 is. In my Asus N53JN laptop i have gt335M in cooperation (questionable solution) with Intel HD graphics. At the back of the laptop i connect the LCD monitor using a vga connector. I additionally have a HDMI port which is not in use.
Hope it gives a clear picture.
    Thanks,

What drivers are you using? Are you white-listing your games/programs to be played with the 335 in the control panel.

Hello Everyone, Im sorry If this question has been answered but I really don't know what to do, I have a Alienware M11xR2, I have seen a few videos online and even reviewers running the games that Im trying to run on "Ultra" settings while I can only manage medium-low. I've downloaded the driver on the dell website and also downloaded the Optimus driver 260.99 yet I still can only manage medium-low graphics settings, please if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

Oh yeah the games Im running are Starcraft 2 and WoW.

Are you using throttlestop? Overclocked in the bios or gpu? What are your specs? Try the new 266.35 from the nividia site under verde drivers or use the modded drivers from kopicha which I approve highly of.

    My system specs:
    Intel Core i7 640UM (4M Cache, 1.20 GHz)
    Memory : 3072MB (1x1024 + 1x2048) 800MHz DDR3 Dual Channel
    Hard Drive : 250GB Serial ATA (7200RPM)
    Graphics Card : 1GB GDDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M
English Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium (64 BIT)

I haven't Overclocked the bio or gpu, and not using throttlestop, it's basically straight out of the box apart from tinkering with the nvidia control panel in hopes of increasing the graphic capabilities and driver downloads, Im guessing I should try downloading kopicha's drivers? or shall I go for the 266.35?

You have to overclock the cpu in order to really bring the computer, however throttlestop is need to successfully hit the 14x166 to get everything out of this little beast. Thats the biggest thing. Yes the drivers from Kopicha I believe work a lot better then the 260.99. Some may not agree. Nothing hurts trying. The graphics card can handle its the processor that isn't inline until oc'ed and using ts. You can learn it here. http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m11x/524257-how-supercharge-m11x-core-i5-i7-um-cpus.html

well looks like I spoke too soon... Just as I thought all the freezing problems were fixed with this beta nVidia driver (verde) I just got a freeze after playing Kane & Lynch 2 for almost an hour.

I'm very concerned about this. I'm not even overclocked or anything. The only programs I'm running in the background are Kane & Lynch 2, fraps for FPS, and Steam... and it still froze on me.

After freeze can you close out of the exe? or have to hard reboot?

Yes and no... unlike other freezes in the past, I was able to Ctrl + Alt + Delete and close out the game. The game's .exe seemed to stick around the taskmgr though.

Any idea what's going on here? I'm almost positive this has to be a driver issue.

It might and I have feeling it isn't a driver issue. Can you run reliability in the search box after the client crashes and find out the technical issues. And have you searched online why it crashes seems to be a common thing. You could try to change its compatibility to xp sp3, run as admin, turn off steam community (if using steam), lower shadows and lighting effects (cpu problem).

Yeah it's not showing any crashes or incidents in my reliablility report. The problem is that the game doesn't "crash" it just stops responding in the task manager and has to be force closed out.

I'm not sure what I can do... I'm reading reports that this problem is quite prevalent with World of Warcraft and a bunch of other games too. People are saying it's the Optimus technology that's screwing things up.

I don't have these problems... and not responding is a crash. Fallout 3 use to do the exact same thing. Turns out that out of all the problems with its poorly optimization was the cpu tweak.

I am running stock CPU speed and default nvidia control panel settings. GeForce 335M is the default display device, and the only two settings I've tweaked are turning the pre-rendered frame limit to 0 and disabling V-sync.

Like I said... these two games... Guild Wars and Kane & Lynch 2 seem to be the only games that are affected by this. I played Oblivion for a few hours last night and had no issues whatsoever. I've also played Bad Company 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and just about every Valve game and had no issues.

Why do you think it's not the Optimus technology that's messing with things?

Because most of the problems with optimus usually crash the display driver which in turns doesn't allow you to close the executable unless you disable the nvidia driver. you said that it doesn't freeze to the point of where you have to hard reboot after installing new drivers. Don't get me wrong it could be. But I am thinking that shadows and lighting could be the one giving you problems. Or it could be heat... have you logged those. I mean you aren't oc'ed in which cpu power is at minimum. Is there a memory leak?

Well that's the thing, I can get to the desktop but I can't close the game .exe... the only way to close the .exe and get the system back to normal is to reboot. Sorry I didn't really explain my problem really well.

Should I roll back to the 260.99 driver from my verde beta driver or will it even make a difference?

That makes the biggest difference. Now it is an optimus issue which there is no cure fore.

Hi, I have a great m11x r2 I7 jobbie, however I have tried adding in a couple of nikon's camera software (View nx2) and Capture NX2 to the optimus list and set it for the GT335 chip, hwoever when I use these programs, I do not get any activity in the nvidia activity window. Any ideas?

I've never bothered to install Capture NX2 on my R2 since the M11x isn't really well suited for much more than importing, cataloging and very basic editing and I use Lightroom for that.

If no one else has any help to offer then I can install it later this week and test it out.

I recently noticed that when I run youtube videos in firefox, the nvidia gpu kicks on. Obviously, it seamless and I only know when I have moused over the nvidia icon in the system tray. I used to think only chrome dumped youtube to the nvidia. Besides according to battery bar, firefox uses a lot less battery power when just browsing than chrome.

I tried forcing firefox to integrated graphics, but even then when I watch an embedded video, it still kicks on the nvidia. If I can watch movies on wmpclassic on integrated, why would youtube require it?

Also, there are times i have been wishing for the hotkey for nvidia/integrated like the r1s. While the switching is great, sometimes when watching a hd video or something i want to use nvidia but dont want to force the program...

This has been brought up a number of times already. You need to whitelist C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\plugin-container.exe and set it to the IGP in order to prevent flash from using the 335.

yeah the process does close, I can play the vietnam expansion fine?? every server is fine. But on the normal Bad company 2 online I get kicked, just happend, it doesn't kick, just crashes to desk top, but not on all servers. Ive used the new beta nvidia drivers that was supposed to be a fix, updated punk buster, allowed the game on the nvidia white list, and updated steam client after punkbuster update. Really have no clue, understand basic computers but not advanced. Surely it has to be a driver issue with the online capabilities with punk buster. But doesn't vietnam use the same stuff. No clue to be honest, very annoying.

You could also right click on the player select settings and disable hardware acceleration you may have to restart though.

Flash hardware acceleration is often necessary and disabling it isn't really an ideal solution. The point is to ensure that the IGP is handling it rather than the 335.

I cant seem to get company of heroes to work with optimus, i have the 260.99 driver. The only exe file i can find is the launcher one and it works for the setup but as soon as you actually launch a game it reverts to the intel card. Any ideas how to get it to work?

Anyone seen missing graphic options in either Champions Online or Star Trek Online? I play both, which use a common engine, and both show graphic options now grayed out in the settings on my R2.... this is not the case with my R1.

Curious if anyone has seen something like this with other games, I am assuming it's a driver issue since my R1 is on an older driver. Figured I would check before going through drivers...

EDIT: This apparently is a driver issue... stay tuned...
