You don't have to now with the new nvidia drivers. It has a clean install option now. Something the old Dell drivers don't have.

The 260.99 drivers are horrible. I can't enable AA for any game.

I uninstalled them and used the Driver Sweeper, then reinstalled the old 189.88 drivers.

And I'm getting kicked by Punkbuster. Still. When I used 189.88 before, I could play PB games endlessly. My bad for upgrading. Beware, all.

That's what I thought. They said November and the month'll be over in two days.

What if they haven't actually fixed it yet? :| What if they're just saying they did for PR points?

Lying is generally bad for PR in the long run.

I don't think they were lying though... maybe it's just taking longer than expected.

The latest BIOS for both the R1 and R2 are stickied right below this thread.

The threads for the latest NVIDIA drivers, again for both the R1 and R2, can probably be found within the first couple pages of the M11x subforum. This should only take a few minutes to find.

And I'm still waiting for the PB fix. I'm forced to play Black Ops and not Bad Company 2 or Medal of Honor. :| Nvidia promised to release it in November.

    Hey guys,

I received my laptop yesterday and am very happy with it. I am not a gamer at all...the reason i got this laptop was for multimedia. I installed the latest nvidia drivers 260.99 and everything is working good. My only concern is that when I share my screen out to my TV the screen is cropped from top/bottom and the sides. Anyone have any idea on how to fix this? also how do i make sure that when i share my screen that the nvidia GPU is being used. I did read in this thread that the shared screen needs to the primary screen, which i have done. However the icon for GPU activity does not show anything.

Thanks for any and all help!

    GUYS! IT'S WORKING!!!!!!

The Dell drivers for the M11x R2 on the Dell Drivers site works. I've been playing BFBC2 and kicking a**.

Step One: Use DriverSweep to clear out ALL Nvidia files. I repeat, ALL, even if you like them. :p

Step Two: Reboot. Then install the driver from the Dell Drivers site.

Step Three: Uninstall Punkbuster, then go into the Punkbuster install folder inside of BFBC2 (game folder) in Program Files and re-install it. Allow Punkbuster A and B for home networks and public networks in the Firewall from Control Panel in Windows 7.

Step Four: Kill the winged beast!

    Step Five: FREEDOM!

Seriously, it's been working for me. These drivers happen to be older than 260.99, and yet provide better performance on the M11x R2 I'm testing it on. The specs are Core i7, 4GB of DDR3, and 500GB hard drive.

Now I'm off to kick some booty. High fives!!! +1

You've got to be kidding me: I gained rank, played on several servers for more than 1 hour, and now it just booted me off for the same direct3d error on BFBC2.

    PB sucks.

189.79 by kopicha are the best drivers ever. I tried the 258.96 and 260.99, but the 189.79 let you play PB games. You just gotta right click and select the "run with the GPU" option.

One downside, though: You can't play Medal of Honor singleplayer with them. The game will say the drivers are too old.

    Ahoy all,

Been having a bit of trouble with Star Wars: Empire at War Forces of Corruption. If I try to run it with the 335m it crashes. It runs fine with the integrated, but with crap graphics. Ideas?

Also, has anyone come out with a way to manually force the 335m to engage? I have the optimus tool to see when its running, but even adding the game to the white list doesn't work.

Draxis, what drivers are you running?
The 335m not engaging is a common issue with the old drivers.

    Help please. Pretty please.

I got my m11x R2 earlier this month and oh boy this thing is great (for the most part)! My problem is that whenever I try to play World of Warcraft the game freezes. It happens randomly (it seems) and makes it a pain in the butt to play the game.

Here are the things I've tried:

    - I called Alienware's tech support and after five calls, one system restore, three uninstalls and reinstalls of the video drivers the game still freezes.

    - I've tried the drivers from dell's website and latest drivers from nVidia's as well and even the modded v259.22 and the game still freezes.

    - I called Blizzard's tech support too. They asked for my specs and to try reinstalling my drivers again and still the problem persists.

    Help please :(

What are your specs? Using Tstop (throttlestop) and overclocked? Ram and i5 or i7.

What drivers are you using. including intel audio and nvidia (are you over clocking your 335?). and bios?

what graphic settings have u used for WoW?

I'm sorry I'm not all that tech savvy.

    I have the m11x R2 i7, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, 500 GB HDD and nothing is overclocked.

Currently the drivers I'm using are the ones from dell's website except for the video drivers. I'm still using the modded Optimus driver v259.22.

I have tried playing wow at both lowest and near ultra settings. It works fine with great fps up until it freezes.

Your build is fine I was hoping i wouldn't see 2gb of ram.

Try the new 265.xxx community built drivers.

Does the whole system freeze? or are you able to alt tab out of and try to close the process through task manager?

Do u use ccleaner? Also when you whitelist WoW.exe are you changing the settings in the nvidia panel?

I'll try the modded 265.xx drivers.

The whole system doesn't freeze at first. I can close the wow window but the process still shows up in the task manager. In fact the only way I can terminate the wow.exe process is by shutting down the computer, that is holding down the power button. The computer won't shut down properly. It will stay in the "Shutting down..." screen or the "Logging off..." screen for about 10-15 minutes then I will get a BSOD that says "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE." I think it's a 0xf9 error.

After closing the game the system will still be responsive unless I try to go into the nVidia control panel. At that point everything will start to become unresponsive and the control panel won't actually show up.

I do use ccleaner. Is that bad?
When I whitelisted wow.exe I didn't change any of the settings.

    [EDIT]
I'm sorry I just realized I should be in this thread instead: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...a-geoforce-gt-335m-causes-game-crashes-5.html

There is no reason to white list steam.exe. Ever. You need to white list the left4dead.exe file found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead\

Having said that I can guarantee that if you have the latest drivers from nvidia installed then it's already white listed. What driver are you running right now?

It's probably not staying because it's already white listed in the driver's default white list. Are you verifying which card is being used when you're playing? What sort of frame rates are you getting?

Open up the nvidia control panel. There you can turn on the GPU Activity Monitor which will reside in the systray. It will tell you which applications are utilizing the 335.

1.) Is there any way to have the computer use the high performance (nVidia) graphics all the time when plugged in? If so, are there any performance (or otherwise) disadvantages to doing this?

2.) Is there any way to detect whether the computer is using the Intel graphics or the nVidia card?

3.) What is the most updated graphics driver version? My computer came with 257.30, but I keep reading about 260.99. However, the Dell website only has 257.30 listed.

    Thanks!!!!

I'm getting driver installation issues, with the setup cannot locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware issue.

I uninstalled previous drivers to update, wiped all nvidia driver related programmes, driver sweeped nvidia several times in safe mode, and have tried installing the various nvidia drivers, modded .inf files and non modded. The dell drivers also wont install. I have no idea what I can do now, the system is totally clean but still wont install anything
    Running an M11x R2 with i5 processor

the graphics card also no longer appears on device manager so I cant force install from there, only the intel HD graphics are there

    any ideas?

    1.) AFAIK, no
2.) Yes. Goto the control panel-->view-->Display GPU activity icon
3.) Just download the 260.99 Verde drivers from nVidia. That's one primary advantage of Optimus - simply get the latest drivers from nVidia, and not have to deal with specialized vendor drivers.

Thanks for the help! Unfortunately, I'm not seeing the "Display GPU activity" option. I opened the nVidia Control Panel, opened the View menu, and all I see are standard, custom, and context menus... (I'm running M11X_R2, with 257.30 driver)
