That page is not there, so you should have taken a screenshot, but there is the m14x. Very nice.
Edit: Oh funny, now the link works, dell put it back up. -
Sweet! Thanks for posting. The link works for me; I just saved the PDF.
-
Link worked for me its a PDF and the specs are in Chapter 7.
Looks pretty good wonder what they will be priced at. -
No snap shot, I have the PDF.. from the DELL url..
Thought they where going to drop the link during my download and leave me hanging... but no.
-
mehh.. i hope this isnt true. we dont need an r3 yet.
-
Good info...
thanks. -
Linky no worky for me... :sadpanda:
-
We used to think ours was the beast.
*takes another puff*
Yeah, those were the days. -
-
So they gave 1 out of 3 information everyone wants. Still no release date and price. And with those specs give, all I care now is the price... and release date....
-
Thinking about canceling my M17x order... hmm... A 14" sounds good... just wish they had a better GPU....
-
Thanks for the PDF file. I see 2 USB 3.0 on the right side, it seems legit since you can't edit a PDF file.
R3 I believe is coming soon and I hope the bossman...ahem...moderator BatBoy doesn't close this thread again because this one doesn't look like a rumor or speculation. -
If an M14x is documented too (I haven't checked).
It maybe prudent to open an M14x - Specification thread, so that there is less cross-over between the m11xR3 and M14x in discussions.
Guessing when official, the Moderators will have to think about an M14x forum.
Gosh.
-
Hmm, kind of disappointed at the weight of these laptops. For a 14 incher you'd expect maybe 5 pounds but because they are AW they have to start at 6.6 pounds...if only they keep the same components while decreasing the weight.
-
these are gaming laptops, dont expect them to be light as a feather lol.
-
With all due respect they need to differentiate M14x from the M15x. And I think they did that, by making one that bit more portable. =)
-
true, but its not going to be that light, all the high end components and the battery, and the alienware design. id rather have it heavy and built like a tank then light and flimsy =p
-
Here all the specs in JPG format:
http://s2.postimage.org/59368yeko/m11xr3i.jpg -
Wait a sec... I thought the R3 was the hinge update!
-
i still think this is speculation.. i wouldnt doubt it if it was.
-
Only speculation if Dell has joined the speculation with speculative M11xR3 mobile manuals. I did check it wasn't 1st April. And there was no mention of Unicorns.
Besides I liked it better when it was speculation and I was able to dream of an HDMI input port, like what is on the M17xR3.
Anyway, it's a good stepping stone for the M11xR4 in six months (based on current development life cycle) Now that would be speculation...
-
lmao thats true. damn.. i hate how fast hardware gets out dated these days..
-
Either way, Nothing is set in stone, So specs can change until it is released for purchase.
And wow people actually read manuals? =D -
it will be aroud the 800~1000$!
-
now i want the R3 LOL
-
Eurgh, GT540m.
I was hoping to see a true upgrade from the GT335 not a rebadged 96 shader, 4 rop GT43(0)5m.
It will be faster in cpu limited scenarios but more of a wash in gpu limited scenarios. -
Mentions overclocking options in the BIOS. Wonder why they even bother to include that since there is nothing to overclock on mobile Sandy Bridge... (see M17xR3).
-
Damn, those specs blow my newly purchased macbook pro 2011 out of the water. I love my MBP ...but if that "Truelife" LCD is good quality I might buy that m11x. That was the only thing stopping me from keeping my m11x r1. I got headaches from using it
-
I'll put money on an OC'd R2 (stock GPU) outperforming a stock R3, if those specs are to be believed. /waiting for 4-core Ivybridge goodness tbh.
-
The GT 540M is only around 15% better than the GT 335M so we're only looking at an incremental increase in overall performance.
-
Ivy Bridge has the added advantage of DX11 instead of the Sandy Bridge DX10 and the possibility of native support for USB 3.0.
Besides, I haven't finished with my M11xR1 yet. -

The only issue is that the 540m is a mid-middle class GPU and most of those may not have enough oomph to handle the dx11 features. Interesting to see the final performance specs.
-
You could argue the 335 does not have enough oomph to handle DX10 features.
It depends whether or not, a) the ULV Core i5/7s would have a gimped TPL setup like the original R2 (Throttlestop can't fix this) and b) what we are comparing against. If it's an R2 i7 with TS and SetPLL, then it may match the SB i7. -
I was under the impression that the M14x was the new M11x since it's clear that the M11x has at least a 13" chasis anyway. That is unless the M14x is to be considered the new M15x as that model is soon to be discountinued in favour of the M17xR3.
-
I wonder, could the M11x possible to get GT555M GPU, in the later time
-
i'll wait till there's a comparative review between the R2 and the R3 to see if there's any real benefit in the R3.
-
with a really healthy overclock on the Gt335 it can easily be on par with the Gt540
-
stevenxowens792 Notebook Virtuoso
@Davy-- I agree with your statement.
@all -- Was it the 4xx series that gimp'd the pipelines and said they were not as necessary due to the newer processing bandwidth or something like that? Then all the benchmarks came out and it was apparent that the older dx9 game performance was suffering but the dx10 performance was increased? Not 'trying' to sound daft but I need to search to find that article again. -
With a really healthy overclock on the GT540, it can easily be ahead of the GT335.
Yes it was. The 500M series is based off the same core as the 400M series and has a few rebranded parts. The best comparison is to make is a direct comparison between the R2 and R3. -
Mind you given the GT540M can be over-clocked and the CPU on the M11xR3 allows for a performance increase, this'll boost overall system performance which I'm guessing the M11xR1 or M11xR2 wouldn't be able to match.
edit - DavyGT just said the same as me at the same time.. weird.
The big question would be, is this incremental increase worth the price of the M11xR3(unknown at this time) or could one skip this release in favour of something better in 6 - 12 months time. -
if there's an ivy bridge version that is!
-
That depends if Intel changed the Turbo implementation. Early R2 was lucky nobody pinmodded their R1, as early figures were disappointing. R3 will have to fight to have top spot this time round with GPU voltmods and further overclocking. It's taking on i7s at higher clockspeeds, hopefully enough to negate the improved architecture.
-
True, but given the overall package (are we looking at 1333 MHz memory) the M11xR3 may still hold it's own.
Unless there is a magic tweak, it's not going to be an M11xR2 slaver.
Plus you get 1GB Ethernet and USB 3.0 (of a kind), but one can easily live without them. -
1333mhz memory doesn't mean anything for performance.
I highly doubt there will be a magic tweak this time around but then again, hindsight has perfect vision, foresight has none.
I would like those features too. It all comes down to price and what you have ATM. -
anyone like to do a performance comparison of the R3 to the R2 when the R3 is out?
-
Heh, I guess you want a pile molten metal/plastic with that 6970 stuffed into a 14" system?
-
Maybe its just me, but I like the 335m...I feel like my cpu is the bottleneck for most games I can't play well (bad company 2 for example). Granted I have an R1, but I'm just saying....that thing is more than capable. Unless your trying to video out @ 1920 with all options cranked.
