On paper, there wasn't much performance difference between an R1 and R2 either.

Blah blah blah, stop bickering and just wait til it is released, then we can start comparing real performance and not paper perfomance.

@instantcold -- Lol.. Like comparing cars by looking at the 1/4 mile figures in Car and Driver.

    Good Point!

You mean to tell me I am stuck with an outdated machine... I just ordered my R2. I have had it for a month! This has happened everytime I buy a new piece of equipment. I should tell people before I make a purchase. Because in about 1-2 months something even better will come out and you will be sad.

It had to be pretty obvious a refresh was coming. In my opinion this is a much bigger refresh than the R1 to R2 since we are actually getting a brand new GPU. I would expect this machine to outperform the older M11X models by a pretty hefty margin, the new GPU is scoring more than 30% faster in pretty much all benchmarks, and that should translate almost straight across into games.

I doubt I will replace my R1, especially since I can now get a free hinge replacement if it fails. Just a bit of advice, if you are looking to get a new gadget buy it when it has just released, don't wait until it is 6+ months old, because then a refresh is right around the corner. Have to see on pricing, and what the eBay market is like for the R1, maybe I will snatch one of these up. Or depending on the weight one of the new M14X.

exactly! the Gt335m is still awesome. and if you can get the cpu overclocked more or pinmodded then all will be good.

I doubt it. If it does have a hinge problem, it'll be a 'new' hinge problem.

The ye olde M11xR1 and M11xR2 are getting the replacement hinge which is probably the one affixed to the M11xR3.

Until it is reported that the new and revised hinges being installed on the M11xR1 and M11xR2 have also failed (like more than one or two people reporting) then I think we can put that demon back under the bed and forget about it. It was just a nightmare. :)

No point in tarring the M11xR3 before you've even got any feathers.

Well now I hope I can find a decent buyer that time that I can sell my R2 to get an R3 ---------------- GO AWAY DISCONTENTMENT!!!

Yes, that's what I am thinking right now. Looking at the specs, what the heck, man?! I think those of us who bought the R1 and R2 are the test dummies for the real beast that's the R3.

Come on, Intel Wireless display??? 1333 Mhz RAM? Overclocking Sandy Bridge?

Oh I can only hope for the performance benches and battery life..

Pretty much in 6month from now we will be talking the same stuff about the r4 hehe Tech just evolves so fast and there will always will be something better and faster after we buy today's tech lol

Pretty much why i still like desktops better than laptops is because they don't get outdated as fast, Like if a new gpu comes out all i have too do is get a gpu , with a laptop you usely stuck with that and will have too buy another 900+ laptop again if you want better.. same goes for the cpu. and parts are cheaper.

I know there's laptops you can change everything but can be inexpensive..

until a product is announced and available for order on the dell site, use the speculation thread.
