No this driver is packaged for the 335m/R2 with optimus specifically, I think Nautis is working on a universal package that will work on more systems but this one has a modded .inf file for the M11xR2 only.

    aww that sucks :[.

oh well, I can wait a lil' longer. I think its pretty awesome that a community driver could be released before nvidia themselves could do anything. Its been like, 3 months and I haven't been able to play BF:BC2 since :[...

It is a shame, to put it very nicely lol. Go check out laptopvideo2go.com as they may have something packaged over there for the 420m, is it a laptop running optimus or just a standalone card?

Its Optimus. Laptop I have came with 2 gpus (Intel HD and Nvidia 420m). Its an acer, runs games great at medium and low. I over clocked it yesterday to match the 435m Clock and Shaders, and Its running a lot better at 57c :].

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

For those without a M11xR2 I have a universal version I am testing. PM me if you want to try it. The Universal version of this driver has very generic/basic settings as to be compatible with all optimus notebooks. Due to this, settings specific to your nvidia gpu may be removed and it might not work as well as official drivers. It is of course use at your own risk and always be weary and mindful of overheating potential.

I also want to remind everyone that this is a Nvidia driver and they need to thank the driver development team for the punkbuster fix. I try not to take credit for other peoples hard work. I just package the files and modify the INF with settings that enable it to work on more GPUs/notebooks versus its original release. This is a driver originally meant for Quadro desktop cards so I am anxious to see the next 265 Verde release brings.

and major credit to DaneGRClose and others for extensive testing and help :).

EDIT: Oh I updated the first posts download with version 2 of the INF. So for anyone downloading it from this point on with that link, it should be an easy download, extract, run setup.exe to install.

This modded driver didn't work for me. I'm on a m11x r2 and my graphic card is stuck at 450 MHz. I don't have Throttle Stop, and now, all the older driver that I try to reinstall is doing the same thing, even after Driver Sweeper, so I suspect a setting is still hidden somewhere. It has to be noted that I originally installed it with the first version of the inf though.

    Any suggestion?

Thx, and keep on the good work!

Did you select the clean install option when you did the installation? If you did it wipes out your whitelist and all the settings, check on that first. If that doesn't change anything download ThrottleStop free from this link:
    ThrottleStop.zip - [email protected]
Run the program, click the Turn On button in the bottom right and see if that changes anything. Get back to us on if it works or not.

Yes, I tried a couple of clean install. Throttle Stop doesn't seem to be doing anything either... My GPU temps went from 47C to 56C in the last 10 min... I'm kinda stuck. It was a good idea though.

Ok if you did a clean install it blasts your whitelist too, go into your whitelist and try to change the "Multiple Display Performance Mode" -to- "Single Display Performance Mode" also make sure you have your whitelist turned to Integrated on anything other than games and the like where you need Nvidia turned on. Try that and let us know.

    Hmm.. seems strange.
You can try using DriverSweeper to clean things up.

or if you are comfortable enough in the registry open:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} (or whichever one has Class - Display in it)
then 0000 or 0001 (the one with DriverDesc matching your Nvidia GPU)
then delete these from that area:
    PMMClockClone
    PMMClockOverlay
    PMMClockOverlayDevs

to see if that helps. (note these entries are the ones I removed in v2 to help with clocking issues)

Still no change. It's funny to see the Nvidia claiming to have 281% of charge when there is nothing on it, then plunging to zero and throttle back at 135 MHz when it's in use... I really don't get it.

Wait, what?!?!? Your gpu is saying it's at 281% usage when at at idle and the clocks are dropping to the 135mhz idle when it's supposed to be being used? I'm very confused now.

EDIT: Is it a bad idea to use Driver Sweeper while the drivers are installed? Does it just clean the extra or throw the whole gang out?

What I've personally done to get the best results is actually to run Driver Sweeper for everything Nvidia while in safe mode, then on top of that use the custom->clean install option in the Nvidia installer. Most people have said that the clean install option works just fine but I've had too many driver "remnants" cause issues so I go a bit over board lol ;)

    Hey Peeps,

    Funny thing happened -

I updated the driver with the new INF file and when I went into the Nvidia Control Panel, all the whitelist and GPU options were gone. Only the option to set PhysX was on the left side of options.

I reverted back to the old version of the driver before the update and everything is back to normal and %100

That version of the driver is working flawless for me. I'm also using Throttlestop and Powermizer with it and stock GPU clocks, but I ran it with the GPU OC'd as well with no issues.

I've been installing the drivers via custom mode with a clean install

    Hope that helps others.

Thanks to Nautis, Christmas has come early. After six months of ownership I feel I finally have a full working M11x.

Now, after all this time, I can actually get some proper gaming done on this Pimp little machine

LOL, good to hear THX. I had the "missing options" situation once or twice and all it required was a restart for them to come back. This is an awesome package, just still needs some kinks worked out. With any luck, and a TON of testing tonight I'll be able to report back on the best combo to use.

Yeah, I was hoping to get a lot more testing done the first night and last night, but I was having wi-fi/lag issues and then life and my job got in the way.

The wife has to work tonight so I'm dedicating my Friday night to play testing this thing.

I know, I know, I live on the edge. Burning the candle at both ends. I can hear them now, "Slow Down THX!! Not BFBC2 on a FRIDAY NIGHT!!! Life's too short to live so hard and live so dangerously!!"

It can't be helped. I'm just a rebel without a cause.

THX, I just has someone report the same issue with 260.99 drivers they modified on their own using instructions I posted. Both are for Optimus.. I will have to see if I can track down the issue.

I changed the link to download the drivers on the first post so it will no longer violate forum rules. Thanks for the quick uploading/link to an alt. location DaneGRClose.

The first set of drivers work fantastic for me.

The only issue I have with the drivers (and it's negligible) is that on certain drivers MSI Afterburner will show the FPS in my Logitech G13 Gameboard as it should, and some others it doesn't. This happens to be one where it doesn't.

However, I'm not even sure if the issue is driver related and I just end up running Fraps anyway

No worries BatBoy, thanks for setting me straight. I figured I would be violating some rule, somewhere down the line, at some point with this whole thing. Modding is a fun hobby for me and and there are a lot of really great people here who are very helpful.

    Very impressive scores indeed.

Noticed your sig. said you have a Momentus XT. There is a new firmware upgrade that came out not that long ago for it. Momentus XT Firmware Ver. SD24

I can play 2v2 Lost Temple on mostly high settings finally with a dip in frames when battles occur.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if his modded drivers are gonna be better than the offical release.

Though we still need to give a hand to Nvidia.

I've had an interesting experience with these drivers to say the least. For example....Napoleon Total War would not let me raise my textures above medium no matter what i did, The Witcher claimed that I did not meet the minimum requirements with this driver, and even with the -dontforceminreqs command line would not let me raise my texture settings above "Low". After a little thought I tried something ie. returned to my 258.96 WHQL drivers with the modded .inf and everything has returned to normal(ie. I can adjust my texture settings in both games). And yea I'm no n00b I used drivercleaner/ccleaner and did a clean install.....tried both the original and v2 .inf's. One other issue I continually encountered was my NV control panel only showing the PhysX option and nothing else.....dunno why. Down clocked perfectly as suggested, but just thought I'd post this up as perhaps there is sum sort of issue with sum games not recognising this driver....not sure.

Oh I am TStop user as well...and TBH all the 260 series drivers have given me issues, similar to this and caused lockups during gaming(not all but some). Typically freezing and unable to kill the games process once back to desktop, forcing a hard reboot. With 258.96 no issues.....strange

Hmm.. now that blank control panel issue is starting to bug me. If you are having this issue do me a favor and send me a registry export of the following sections:

    open regedit
    go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} (or whichever has the class Display)\0001 (or 0000 whichever has the DriverDesc with your GPU name)

    export this section and

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation

^that section and send both to me.

EDIT: It appears 265.66 has popped up at ASUS. I am downloading them now and will take a look at em when I can. They are for notebooks so they may be the first officially released of the 265 series with optimus. May include a better optimus update component.

EDIT2: 265.66 is indeed a full notebook package with optimus and a new update component. Some new settings. I think I will update the 265.90 package with the new things found in this driver.

Natis - Don't bother with 265.66 they are getting lower results in tests and are dated 18 days older than the quadro 265.90.

The quadro still seems to be the newest and "best" drivers.

^ Correct. The plan is to take the components missing from 265.90 and implementing them if possible. Not only that, I now have a more complete overview of how things are on the notebook side of things. Don't worry I am still hard at work on the Hybrid Graphics side, there just is not as much to go on with it since there have been no HG drivers in the 260+ range yet (AFAIK). Makes things a lot more difficult.

Actually I tested this driver and ran NFS Hot Pursuit, it's 10~20 more frames compared to the 258.9x! OMG amazing!
