i am at work now so i cant access to my wow configurations. I can help on that later when I get home. However for now can you please try the following things in this link http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...e-wow-performance-m11x-r2-24.html#post6465928 and see how it goes first?

stevenxowens792 Notebook Virtuoso
@Driver Discussion, R1 Users - I have tried this driver for several days. I think driver 258.49 is better. I got slowdowns in 4 games (just cause 2, ddo online, lego harry potter 1-4 and cod mw2). Sometimes only 1-3 fps but an impact. The max frames with this driver is lower. I un-installed completely, used driver cleaner and re-installed to confirm. Results were the same. So.. for dx10 games, I am not convinced this is a great driver for R1 owners. Also... The FF14 bench with max gpu oc was about 20 points lower with this driver.
BW, StevenX -
This driver is an improvement overall from R2's perspective. Me2 run faster and smoother, so is L4D2 with everything max out and 16xAA with 16QxMSAA. Wow also gain about avg of 10-20% in fps. My wow shots with this drivers can be seen http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...e-wow-performance-m11x-r2-24.html#post6467455

Wow!!
This driver has fixed all my issues!
Just Cause 2 now plays perfectly.
Transformers:War on Cybertron does not crash in the first level.
All my games load fine and run at 30fps+ at high settings*
I've got my display calibrated and looking sweet.
Finally, THIS feels like the gaming netbook that I paid $1500 for.
I am in LURV.
So happy with this machine right now. All my issues are gone!!
Games PLAY and play fantastic.
*Most games run at high settings if shadows and/or shaders are set to low. If they're set to low, you can set everything else to high and get the same FPS as running things on Medium.
**Of course, I had to re-disable PowerMeizer and reinstall the PhysX patch, but after that. ZING!
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
If you're running the same config as the Anandtech review (as I am, by happenstance) I highly recommend these drivers.
To keep everything stable and cool and running smooth I'm also keeping my CPU on turbo and overclock disabled and then OC my GPU to 540/1180/880 which provided the most stability with the old drivers, and seem to with the new. I can go alot higher on the GPU, but I don't seem to get much increase in FPS to justify the random crashing that comes with going higher than these settings.
Awesome update. After 2 weeks, it finally feels like it's R2 X-mas.
Also system seems to run much cooler at these settings as well.
Good Looking out!
So happy. Cheers. -
Good stuff. Thanks for posting this kopicha. I am glad my instructions were useful. I haven't had a chance to look at the INF you posted but have to assume is configured right due to the overwhelmingly positive response. I am amazed that Nvidia has not yet added the R2 device id strings, wonder what is going on there. It might not have been brought to their attention yet.
-
-
Nvidia tends not to change too much in their INFs between releases as long as it is in the same series as you noticed.
With this driver/inf do you have the PhysX configuration area in the Nvidia Control Panel? -
-
Anyways really good job kopicha. -
Ah this is an awesome driver. It fixed my weird 335M toggling between idle/off. I can also run Chrome on integrated graphics now. Thanks kopicha!
-
-
I uninstalled the old drivers, cleaned in safe mode.
But when i try to install these, I get an error message saying cant detect drivers compatible????? -
-
Still doesnt work
-
You probably put the ini file in a wrong folder.
Make sure you put it in display folder (i think). -
If you can do the following and paste it here it would be most helpful.
Open Control Panel - Device Manager -> Display Adapters -> NVIDIA Geforce.... -> Details Tab -> Hardware IDs --> Right click the top one and choose copy and then paste it in the reply here. -
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0CAF&SUBSYS_04651028
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0CAF&CC_030000
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0CAF&CC_0300 -
This driver so far is working great. I have one question though, I've seen people say they got 8000+ 3dmark06 score with this driver and all the same hardware as mine except 4GB ram, and I have 2GB (my 2x2GB sticks are in the mail), and I've set up the exact same settings but I'm getting around 7800. According to the NVIDIA control panel, I currently have DirectX 11, would installing DirectX 9.0c give me a higher score since 3dmark06 is a DirectX 9 benchmark?
-
u see others a lot others reporting this? I think this is the first I see that not able to install. at least as far as in this thread. you might be right there "could" be possbility of different hardware id. but could be ppl unzipping the inf file to the wrong place too as I receive pm asking for help that its not working end up knowing he put the inf file in the wrong place or he did not even use the inf file -
-
-
Yep, i'm getting errors of incompatibility as well. And I'm definitely replacing the nvdm.inf file correctly, as I did with the 258. 69 drivers. Which worked strangely...
EDIT: After attempting to run 258. 69 setup, it progresses past the compatibility stage with no issues, with Nautis' modded inf of course.
Maybe the inf for 258. 96 needs a bit more work. -
weird.... can you post your hardware id for your gpu -
258.96 using kopicha's modded inf is working fine for me.
Maybe there are different hardware id's. Mine is the same as M11Ash's.
EDIT: Are people who are having failures uninstalling their current driver, booting into safe mode, running Driver Sweeper, rebooting and then installing the new driver? -
dont think it can cause by running driver sweeper. since for my case i always perform clean installation and those are the standard steps i will always do before installing any new drivers.
Perheps what Nautis conclude might be true. Those who claim not working might want to post their hardware id. but i gonna have another look at dell's driver to see if i can find anything while waiting -
They usually release new drivers every week, right? I'm forced to use the dell beta 257.30 right now because the 258.96 won't start up the ffxiv beta and for some reason the 257.30 makes games freeze when I overclock the gpu( even if it's a slight overclock, no where near as high as I was able to overclock with the 258.96). Also doesn't let me shut down when it freezes so its causing too many problems.
Hopefully when the newest driver releases it will be compatible with the beta. -
-
anyway I was trying to have a brief look at Dell's inf and my modded inf. I cant see that there is another hardware id for GT335M. Dont quite make sense that it doesnt work if the steps are done correctly =/ -
next about 258.96 and ffivx beta. i dont have the beta access so i am not sure. but i am very sure that the benchmark start and run without issue. you may want to check your application list, ffivx is listed in the app list as far as i know. maybe the gfx is being set with integrate as default thats why the game dont start. try look that up.
lastly about overclocking. there is no issue with overclocking be it with 257.30 from dell or this modded driver from nvidia. since slight clock for you also crash. problem could be on your hardware rather than the drivers. since if yon have been here long enough. you should know that not everyone's machine are capable of overclocking. this apply both the CPU n GPU
hope this help ans your question -
I have updated the front page with installation instructions since I do receive pm on how to run this thing. If you are one of those who have problem running this, make sure that you are doing what exactly I have posted. I hope this will help better especially to those who are new to such things and not sure what they need to do.
-
I'm having NO problems with 258.96. Runs just fine in the things I try at least.
-
I also did a clean install using driver sweep and actually had to run it twice to get all the conflicting registry entries out.
My gut says that this is why people are having trouble.
And like I said before, I had to redo my PowerMeizer and reinstall last week's latest PhysX patch separately even though it's supposed to be in the driver - but once I did,
EVERYTHING works. No conflict, crashes, or issues. Just gaming, gaming, gaming.
I've had this thing since 5/29, yesterday feels like the first day I actually "got" the Alienware I paid for and was expecting.
Big thanks to Kopicha and Nautis for creating these files/hacks so we can use our new machines as intended. Without the two of you, many of us would be stuck with Dell's beta drivers and I probably would've returned it by now.
Now I'm really, really happy with the machine and it's performing as expected.
Cheers -
good to know that it work out really well for quite a number of you out there. thanks for the feedback. appreciate that. at least i know i didnt do the wrong thing
i have the same opinion on this driver too. cant say its the best. but still it seems to iron out a lot of issues that ppl are reporting previously. and the support on opitmus just look better with each driver release which is the most important thing for us R2 users. This is something I am most happy about. Performance wise over all this driver seems to give me the best experience with the laptop. Like what THX5334 said, with this driver running it does make you feel like "oh yes this is how m11xr2 is meant to be and how optimus suppose to work!" -
Gonna install these tonight. Cant wait to see more optimus support in the future.
-
Me too. But I think Optimus is kind of new. It came out around February, so ofcourse there are going to be some kinks along the way.
It's only a matter of time before Optimus is the new black! -
Sorry all -- trying to follow this gigantic thread. Does this work? Upgrading the driver will fix optimus issues?
Also, if nvidia releases a new driver in the future, will this prevent us from installing those? -
Yes.
Depends, but generally, yes.
No. -
Anyway to Naudan I think its more fair that you go thru the thread and see other's feedback. There are positives and negatives. But overall this driver fix stuffs more than it breaks something. thats all i can comment about it. -
I know that you have steps outlined in the main post.. but translating text to action is, well, scary, for those who don't have technical skills or the courage to even try (me).
Perhaps, if you ever find time, you could make a quick video on all the steps that need to be done so that we can easily imitate it. Just a suggestion but I think videos/screen-shots are 10000x better for those who are skeptical about trying your installation process.
Thanks -

Download the latest version of PhysX - NVIDIA DRIVERS 9.10.0224
Uninstall current PhysX.
Reboot into safe mode.
Download and install Driver Sweeper - Guru3D - Driver Sweeper
Run DS and remove PhysX stuff.
Reboot and then install the new PhysX.
For people installing new drivers the same procedure of booting into safe mode and running Driver Sweeper should always be done as well. It just makes for a cleaner installation of the new driver. -
Why do we need to install PhysX & the video seperatly? I thought the 258.96 installs them both.
-
-
Ahh right on. Hehe hope i dont have any issues *crosses fingers* tonight after work. Mabey i wait till tommorow, going fishing tonight is really calling my name... the lake by my house has a large trout waiting for me.
