I would guess it is people not turning down shadows and AA AF, the M11X GPU is going to be bandwidth bound, and so it is important to turn the bandwidth hog features down or off. Things like textures are no problem though, because of 1 gig of video memory.

    Yeah I don't think I disabled shadows on BFBC2

I didn't really benchmark it very in depth. I'm sure others will for me since I'm extremely busy today so I didnt get a lot of time with each game.

i find it annoying that 6000+ scores are only possible with overclock on.
Dell didnt advertise it my foot

nice run Kouki. Would like to see more SU4100 runs to see if they're around the 6300 or 6200 marks, although marginal complaints about 1.6 vs 1.73 are probably near the same for benches =)

Here are my benchmarks that I ran tonight after messing around with the laptop. This is with the default install from Alienware.

Also, ran around Dalaran in WoW and it never dropped below 20 fps, it spiked a few times to over 45 fps. Never felt sluggish or slow and always seemed to be fluid.

Some quick observations. At stock with SpeedStep it will run at 4.0x multiplier at 0.875v @ 800 mhz. During normal use it will run at 6.5x multiplier at 1.0v @ 1.3 ghz. While overclocked multiplier seems to be locked at 6.0x and 0.9v @ 1.6 ghz. So not only does it overclock the bus but it under volts it from stock.

    3DMark06 Stock CPU 5717

    3DMark06 Overclocked CPU 6477

Sorry, edited my post to comply with forum rules and I refuse to use photobucket or imageshack so changed them to links.

Alright, got some benchies for you all. :D

First up, 3dmark06, no OC, native resolution (1366x768)

The obligatory Windows Experience Index (no overclock, note that disk is an aftermarket SSD).

Next, internal temps after playing Left 4 Dead for 10 minutes (Left 4 Dead runs beautifully, BTW). Nice and cool - although the fan is a bit on the loud side. Still, rather that than heat issues.

    Now, for some overclocking.

I played some Shattered Horizon on the system. Without overclock, the game ran smoothly on low settings until any action occured, at which point it really bogged down. With overclock enabled, game was completely playable at low settings. :) Here are the temps recorded after a round of Shattered Horizon, with CPU overclocked.

Also, I'm noticing as I'm typing this that my fan is turning itself completely off. . . it came back on for a minute, but I don't recall it doing this before. Maybe a weird OC thing? It seems to want to be either on high or off.

Edit - that fan thing is weird, but I guess it just turns off if temps are low.

I also did a run of 3dmark06 with overclock enabled (again, native res of 1366x768):

NOTE: Post 2 has been updated with scores.

Remember all scores need to have a CPU-Z/GPU-Z screen shot in them to validate settings. Refer to the benchmark scores linked in my sig if you need an example. You can also have your name typed somewhere in the pic if you would like so as to assure it is your score.

When running 3DMark Vantage, run with PhysX turned off.

Let me know if there is something you want to see in Post 2 through PM so as not to clutter the thread with non benchmark banter. I am only putting in screen shot links, and not scores that have been typed in a post.

    Thanks,
    Dan

I just got done playing some TF2 and I took some SS. Never saw below 30 fps, playing on a 36 player server, settings all high except for shadows set to low, textures on very high. I tried to take my pics when the action was crazy, to show the lowest FPS, in buildings or without anyone around I would hit 80+ fps.

Specs: SU7300, OC on, 4 gigs ram, 7200 RPM drive

Ok, had some fun with ocing the GPU.

Managed to squeeze out 600 on the core and I think the shader has more room too, but linked its at 1440. The memory was able to reach 915, 922 results in pixel errors.

So this was my 3Dmark06 @ 600-1440-915 that resulted in 6897. Was really aiming for that 7k mark. My GPU didn't exceed 55C with a ambient of ~25C.

Here is my first 3dmark06 run oc CPU stock GPU.

For the record, crysis runs comfortably at all medium plus high shader and very high textures. Sorry no fraps.

I will start my experiments with GPU OC soon.

    Hey guys,

Ran 3DMark06, with the CPU OC'd and got a score of 6336. I should be pretty happy with that, no?

It's my first ever benchmark, so I might have screwed it up or something, I only used the basic version of 3dMark06 I had to go online to check the score, doesnt look the same as you guys, so maybe it doesn't count.

Anyways, I'll post a screen shot in just a minute.

    I'll post pics some time but I re-ran 3dMark06

    6336 OC'd CPU, stock GPU
    670x OC'd CPU, GPU at 600/1500/900

Turned shadows on low in TF2, put AF to 16x, set the rest on high... never drops below 30fps

I posted this in another thread but should have put it here...
    DOW2 Benchmark Test:
    1366x768
    Shader Quality = High
    Model Quality =High
    AA = Off
    Texture Detail = High
    Shadows = Med
    Reflections = High
    Post Poc. = On
    Physics = On
    Terrain Detail = High
    Effects Fidelity = High
    Effects Density = High
    Rain Detail = Med
    Soft Particles = On

    Min. FPS = 9.73
    Avg. FPS = 22.85
    Max FPS = 60.15

Not bad. This is also with tons of action on screen. I found the benchmark tool to be more stressful on the system than regular gaming. So I think DOW2 is totally playable with setting on High.

    Cheers,

    -Sanmanatoo

Just did a benchmark on Dirt 2. It ran great. Native resolution with medium to high graphical settings. Not one bit of slowdown. Even when there was 8 cars on the screen and smoke and water coming up. Average frame rate was 29.7. Minimum was 25.2. I did have vsync on as well.

are you guys going into the my computers properties (performance) and setting it for best performance, just disabling Aero, or none of the above? I have about 65 processes open etc. and want to tune my machine for solid performance, but still decent looking. Forgive my noobness, but if anyone can assist here, I would forever be in your debt! Thx.

so far I have it maxed out at native resolution and very solid FPS, tried out the tutorial for a few minutes and am going to try campaign now

Here are the numbers I attacked some people in the last 30 seconds with a submarine (learning how to play on the fly) and it didn't seem make it any less smooth

    Settings were maxed!

    Bioshock 1

    Settings were maxed!

    Batman: Arkham Asylum Demo

Everyone, from here on out -

    This thread is not for:

Talk about SSD's, WoW settings, WoW raids, go and post that in Side Topics.

Questions asking if its a fingerprint magnet, battery time, fan noise, warranty coverage or any other M11x specific post - post in the Owner's Lounge.

Requests for game testing are NOT to be posted here. In-game Video footage does not belong here. There is a thread for that: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=462436

This thread is for benchmark results using benchmark apps, built-in game benchmark tools, etc. Posts relating to discussion of results, driver version used, settings are fine.

    Thanks everyone.

I am confused about all of this performance bench mark stuff, due to the profiles. Does everyone have their systems set to "performance", or "balanced"?

If "balanced" is supposed to kick in extra power when apps require it, why not just leave it on "balanced"?
