Agreed - and I didn't say it didn't/wasn't ..![]()
I simply stated that EA is known for coding a game - and *then* porting it cross-platform via a common engine/emulation. While this is good for the company from an ongoing development perspective - the game is typically not optimized for the platform it's being played on. This has grown more common in the past several years. You see this a lot more with consoles especially, take all the cheap ports of PS2 titles to the Wii, for example. The Wii is hands down a more powerful platform than the PS2 - yet many of the games ported from PS2 are lackluster and run poorly. Why? Poor programming / deadlines - rushing a product to market, and not coding to the specific platform. I get it though - companies have to make money, and the best way to accomplish this is to follow this type of mass-produced game engine(s) programming.
I guess my point is: Can BFBC2 run on M11x - yes - I'm fairly certain it can be tweaked to run smoothly, albeit at a medium setting. Can the developers, if given the time, go back and re-factor some of the code to take the load off of the CPU and make it run smoother at a higher detail? Again - Yes - most definitely - you can always go back and re-factor code ... problem is - ROI isn't there..![]()
-
*edit*
okay I ran on all lows and not much improvement.. only 1.5FPS gain seen.. updated my original BFBC2 benchmark.
just benched on high graphcal details and high textures.. only avg of 1FPS drop.. lol
edited my post some more with 4 quick runs over the same area, testing out effects, details, and textures each separately.
-
^ Almost exactly what happens when I drop Flashpoint to low.
-
So it's pretty much a waste of time to turn games to low settings? Just roll with medium / high?
-
@aznguyen316
Have you added the "+fullproc" command to the startup line/shortcut ?
Dual core owners in my clan reported good gains with that setting forced in the startup.
/just still thinking of ways to improve BC2 ...lol -

i actually have been playing it at lowest possible settings, 720p, and I have to take back anything bad I said about it. It's EXTREMELY playable at those settings, I think seeing the fraps counter in the corner was messing with my head.
There's really nothing wrong with it now that I've had a little time with it. -
Eggs Scrambled Notebook Evangelist
EXTREMELY long benchmarks just done, they actually include loading screens unfortunately which alters the min/max time as you can see! anyways, here's what I got:
Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
91841, 4583360, 0, 193, 20.038
Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
10177, 533464, 0, 181, 19.077
Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
12076, 561053, 0, 173, 21.524
I should mention that this average is definitely higher when the loading screens are taken out of the picture. If I had excel working I'd do a proper comparison after removing the outliers that are obviously loading screens. Regardless, this maintains above 20fps even with the outliers which can relatively show how it manages at least a solid 20fps which doesnt sound like much but I was personally able to get more than 4000 points in several games during this benchmark. AND I have the su4100 and 2gb ram so take that. -
Where do I find the Crysis Benchmarking tool? I'm not seeing it in the game, nor in the folders. Anyone wanna clue me in on how to run it?
Same thing goes for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Cant seem to locate the bench tool. -
@nsxr I have high textures and low else now and it played well. Avg fps is similar but some minimum fps will be lower with higher settings, so if you don't want to see those dips as often, then don't go all out. meds/low/ and for textures, I feel, can be high.
@thewusman yes I've had that in my steam shortcut launch properties
@dr650 - the crysis benchmark tool is seperate download, but you'll also need the crysis demo/full game downloaded and installed as well. The benchmark tool itself is only like 500kb I think? The demo is maybe 1.5GB
the stalker call of pripyat one is a separate download too available via google even from the official stalker site I believe. Another 1.x GB download to run. Neither are really in game. -
Ok, I have the games, I just wasn't sure where they are. I have a file that says crysis benchmark, but when I run it I don't get the screen that looks like yours. I'll download them tonight. Any chance you have a link to them?
-
crysis
stalker c.o.p.
haha after I searched them I saw that they're linked on the first post -
lol, man didnt even think about that. Thanks again!
-
Hey guys maybe it would be helpful to note what DRIVERS you guys are using to get those high scores also... I think that has alot to do with FPS etc... can everyone list their drivers so we can follow suit and maybe settings used to get the 7000 scores?
-
Stock drivers, settings can be found in my sig or the first page. It's why I include CPU-z, GPU-z screen shots. All my clocks can be found there. All top scores are linked on Page 1 where Im keeping track of them. Each score is linked to a screen shot.
-
@DR650SE - Ok thanks for that info, I was trying to decide whether to go with those stock ones or the DOX ones found in aznguyen's signature that is why I asked. Also, I cannot see any of the screens here at work because they are blocked
-
ahh, yea I might try the DOX drivers for benching on Friday, probably not any time before that. But I just have the drivers that came with the M11X.
My 7105 3DMark06 score was done with the following GPU clocks
GPU Clock: 633 MHz
Memory: 912 MHz
Shader: 1450 MHz -
-
Ok I am going to wait for your benches DR650SE so that I can compare stock vs DOX drivers. I want to get the most FPS out of Battlefield Bad Company 2 as possible to make the gameplay smooth. Thanks
-
aznguy covered this I believe, might have been in the gaming thread in the side topics, but the final determination was that OCing the GPU made little differance.
-
I got my system exactly two weeks ago,and when it was/ completely fresh my score in 3DMark was 6358.
Just did it today and I got 4173 3DMarks...Is that normal? XD -
Check your power settings. Go into Alien FX and make sure your GPU is at max. Then restart and rerun the test. Ensure that physics is off in the Nvidia control panel.
-
@DR650SE:
Just curious, do you keep your GPU overclocked? And if so, what settings do you use on a day to day basis? -
I havn't really played any games except Need For Speed Shift, and that I played with no overclock. I probably won't keep it overclocked on a day to day basis. As long as you keep an eye on temps, you can probably go up to a GPU clock of 550 MHz, Memory maybe 840 MHz, and Shader 1250 MHz. That would probably be stable. But I would definately keep an eye on temps. As for me I probably won't play games with GPU overclock
-
I leave my SU7300 on overclock 100% of the time. When on Intel IGP, I am getitng roughly 6 hours of battery life.
-
@aisuhime no it's not normal. I had this issue before but it what due to overclocking issues which some reason made it downclock to hitting the 4,000's.
-
I was gaming it last night ep2 & portal...
Found my max stable gaming overclock was 570core 1435 shader and 890 mem
Max recorded gpu temp was 55c and average was 53c-54c with hwmonitor room temp was 69-70f.
Benchmark stable clocks 581c 1445s 903mem -
-
Ok, so I finally got to using an external monitor so I can run 3DMark Vantage at 1280x1024 Overclocked CPU/GPU. Below are the results.
Not bad at all considering it's not the M11X native resolution. I ran one test with no CPU or GPU overclock, and another with both overclocked to show the differance.
Not Overclocked 1280x1024
Overall Score: P2525
GPU: 2566
CPU: 2411
Overclocked - 1280x1024
Overall Score: P3278
GPU: 3301
CPU: 3211

Here is World in Conflict runs with the World In Conflict Benchmarking tool. I ran them at Very Low, Medium and Very High settings. Both at stock clocks, and then a heavy GPU overclock. The first pic is the settings. I adjusted the settings with the basic settings option. All were run at 1280x720 resolution. As you can see from studing the graph, the overclocks do not help much in this benchmark tool. The Key is to keep your laptop as cool as possible. If you study closely, you'll see that the overclocks help in some areas of the benchmark assesment, while hinder in others. All runs were done with the CPU @ 1.733GHz.

Does overclocking the CPU 100% of time reduces its life?

@Fuzzyhead, what is the resolution on that run, it looks like 1260x753. At the moment I have the top 5 set at 1280x1024. Can you try a run at those clocks at that resolution? You'll need an external monitor. How were you able to get a P score at that resolution? -
hey guys. how long does boot up time take when it's 1.3 vs 1.7? How significant is the different of speed for a harddrive spinning 7200RPM vs SSD?
-
hey guys, im new here, and thought I would try benchmarking.
Here is a run of 3dmark06. I think im kinda squeezed in
http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/1209/benchcopy.png -
Good job, nice run. Thanks for including all the details. Page one updated.
-
Here is another run, a bit better then the last one
http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/618/benchrun2.png -
Nice job, how high can you go before you start locking up due to instability?
-
what causes it to lock up? -
It locks up due to it not being able to handle the overclock.
Everyone's chip is not built equally. Some people overclock higher then others.
You should only overclock in smallish increments and then run a game. Keep doing that till you find your maximum OC for stability. -
Here is another Benchmark, going up the ladder

I tried out FFXI a bit just for kicks.
With the Intel GMA card, everything on high (MIP off, background res 1024x1024, bump mapping, textures uncompressed) with overlay res at 800x600 and windowed, low-action areas I was getting 15 FPS and high-lag areas 5-9 FPS.
Switching over to the 335m, I've been getting a solid 29.4 FPS (seems to be the highest for the game) in low to medium lag zones (Al Zahbi no Beseiged, mog house, Upper Jeuno). At the Whitegate Auction House I was getting 10-15 FPS but those of you who play FFXI should know that to be normal no matter what setup. My settings for the 335m were background res 1600x1200 (registry edit), overlay res 800x600, windowed, texture compression low, MIP mapping 5 (best way to cut down on resources while keeping quality), everything else default.
I haven't tested full screen because I don't play it that way but if anyone really wants to know some serious benchmarking, PM me with your request. -
I got my M11x yesterday. So I might be late to the benchmarking party
This is the first time I am giving a shot at benchmarking so please excuse me if I missed something. The benchmarks are done at the resolution 1280x768. I couldnt use PCMark Vantage. It kept giving me an error that the resolution is not supported.

I am not sure if I recorded the temps right. Are they too low or did I just not record them right? -
@DR650SE:
I hooked it up with a 22 inch screen and ran on performance preset with the resolution of 1280 x 1024.
I can only bench with da crapy trial version so no other resolutions or specific fps-values for each test are available. -
How about we see, GPU and CPU overclocking
?
-
apt, ensure that your running hwmonitor while running the tests. Otherwise it just records the temps when you open it. To get accurate min/max temps, open it,then run your tests.
-
@DR650SE - It was running all the time and thats what it recorded.
-
Then yea, your good, thats doing it right.
@Ahmed You going to catch me? Your so close to the #2 spot! Getting addicted yet?
@FuzzyHead Gotcha, thanks -
-
stick it in your freezer!
-
Keep it as cool, shut down background apps. Maybe try differant drivers. I havn't switched drivers yet, but I may try the dox drivers at some point. I also updated your scores. And just purchased a registration for PCMark Vantage. Look for me at the top of the board tommorrow lol.
