Dell's Kinda of Bs i think they used a lot of refurbished parts in the m11x if you guys ever want to take the bottom off and look at the components my look used the hard drive especially i have lots of notebooks and take them apart for fun sometimes and i know what new looks like and refurbished. This is also the first dell i have ever bought. due to i never liked dell but i have many alienware notebooks. So you can hold me to this I will never buy another dell/alienware again because its all down hill from here as i see it. I know a lot of you say blah its just my computer and i hope so but still i feel ripped off. I wouldn't ever wish what i have gone threw even on my worst enemy....

No proof just my opinion... Also you should go to dells website look at the upgrade parts they have slim to non NEW upgrade parts most are refurbished and i used the sales live chat. You can tell them im looking to upgrade and they will help you and will not tell you its a refurbished part till you get a call and they ask you to confirm you want this part then say its refurbished and has a 30 day warranty very quickly. I said no i want a new one i will pay we dont have new parts for upgrade... I mean dells a pos company in my mind

for those who already received their lappy, please let me know how the keyboard is like? are there different versions of the keyboard?! cause i sure as hell wasn't aware or did i get a chance to pick when i placed my order.

please look at this comparison from 2 different reviews of the m11x on youtube. in particular its the ENTER bar that i'm concerned about cause i hate the one on the right... i can never use those... what the hell?? this is confusing me!!

It has been in the boxing stage since Thursday, 3/4/10, so it should be getting shipped out on Monday. I remember calling the Dell rep and they basically said that the order is too far in to change the shipping at this point. Its kinda shocking how fast they built the machine.

wow what the hell when I ordered the dell alienware m11x with SU7300, 4 GB DDR3 ram and 500 GB HDD 7200 rpm it was a total of 983.06 euro. Now I tried to configure the exact same configuration it's 1008.06 euro.

Is that normal? Not that I'm complaining or anything :) but a friend wants to buy the same system, that's why...

For those having games running funny.

If running off wall outlet, be sure to set the power profile to Performance when on the 335M.

If running off battery, you will have to manually change or make a new profile and change it to max power, otherwise you will have throttling issues.

has anyone played anno 1404 on it yet?

i would imagine it will struggle on high and the CPU will be the bottle neck, mind you with these types of games fps isnt so important.

also curious how it will handle civ5 when its released.

any thoughts appreciated as im tossing up between this lappy or getting a cheaper 15" and keeping my netbook for portability.

Notebookcheck.com said Anno ran well on the M11x. I think it was 31 fps? But that might have been at a lower res. Just head over there and read the review.

Does anyone else's front grill/mousepad/keyboard panel lift right up from the base/chassis?

I noticed this today when I went to move my M11x on my lap. I placed my hands so that my thumbs were on the front grill/lit section, and pushed. I felt the panel move. When I looked down, I could see there was a gap between the bottom of the plastic and the metal base.

Just wondered if this was normal.

I actually just ordered that a few days ago from Amazon. It's about $1 cheaper there with FS.

Should be arriving in 3 days. ATM I am using one of those huge Multi Purpose Jumbo LapDesk things.

Can someone give me the measurements of the keyboard area? Need to know what size of screen protecty cloth i need.

[ edit: Never mind, did some checking based on the specs and pictures - getting a custom one from ShaggyMac, 10.5" wide and 7.5" deep should fit nicely :D ]

Is the area where the laptop goes adjustable. Looks like it would not hold the m11x snuggly. Otherwise, looks like a nice case.

If I've had my m11x for just over a week (within the first 21 days) and i have about 4-5 dead pixels in a small area, will they send someone to replace my led panel or can I ask them to ship me a new machine?

Hey, has anyone bothered to do battery life tests? How is the m11x compared to say the MacBook Pro? I know notebook review, engadget, hardware heaven, and notebook check have all done reviews, but the settings they used didn't seem to be best battery saving arrangement possible, nor could I tell if their video tests were done off of an external dvd drive.

Anyways, I'm looking into buying an m11x with the SU4100, 4GB Ram, and the stock 160GB 5400RPM hard drive. I'd also be buying the dell external dvd drive.

If I switched to integrated graphics, did not overclock my CPU, set Windows 7 to the Power Saver battery option, turned off all lighting, and set screen brightness to minimum, how long would I be able to watch DVDs non-stop off the external optical drive? Would Dell's advertisement that the m11x has enough battery for a cross-country flight hold up as true?

Yeah, I know could find cheaper external optical drives; regardless, thank you for the advice.

The main point was to say that I would be using an external optical drive to play movies, and I was wondering what kind of effect that would have on battery life?

All USB devices that need power will extract it via the USB cable from the system. Might eat up battery faster but might be negligible.

    ...

Way to stick to your guns! You did it right.

I have. It works well at native resolution, but you can't max out all the details... less than the middle setting. But the game still looks and plays great!

I have yet to find a review that says ReadyBoost actually makes a difference. It sounds like you have information to the contrary. Would you care to share?

Best Buy carries the e-Sling bag in-store. It's fantastic, the best 12" bag I've found.

Mine arrives in the mail tomorrow. Had to order from Best Buy online. I can hardly wait for it's arrival! Good bye Microsoft Wave, a horrible mouse for gaming.

The only game I've run on the m11x that wasn't perfectly playable was Battlefield Bad Company 2.

If you game, I can't imagine even 128gb would be a large enough hard drive. I highly recommend waiting for an affordable 256gb if you plan on installing games.

Your experience is very different from mine. I can play well over 40mbit blu-ray rips off my hard drive onto an external 1080p HDTV over HDMI while using the 1366x768 display on the laptop itself at the same time. I haven't run into one video I couldn't play easily. Make sure you get the Flash BETA that uses GPU to run Flash. I can play any MOV, MKV, WMA, Flash, etc.

I've never heard of a CUDA player, however Media Player Classic will use your shader for many effects, such as sharpening and color correction. Read my simple directions here:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=5953455&postcount=51

That was on accident. You should have only received one. Congrats. :)

    1. I recommend Garmin Mobile PC. I use it on mine and it works great.

I have the GPS 10x version, with the external Bluetooth receiver:
    http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-Mobile...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1268010779&sr=8-1

    2. The 256GB SSD makes a very big difference. The question isn't rather or not it boosts performance, but rather or not you can afford it. If you can afford it, there is NO reason to skip it. I have one in my desktop and it makes a big difference. I cannot afford a second one, currently. :p

Thank you for answering this question before I asked it. I was about to buy one, but I don't want it if it doesn't fit inside the laptop.

I have never heard of anyone justifying the use of readyboost. If Anand of Anandtech.com didn't think it was worth it, the it is not worth it.

0% financing. Why not help build your credit a little? :)

If what you say is true, Dell would be open to a class action nightmare. I refuse to believe Dell would sell USED parts in NEW laptops. That is illegal. If there are any scuffs from screw drivers or otherwise, they are from the person who assembled the laptops.

Yea, BFBC2 is the worst CPU limited game since Crysis. It's tragic.

Giving up on BC2. Completely unplayable at 720p and all low with dx9......with cpu oc and a ridiculous gpu oc.....

9-20 fps. Extremely disappointing. People who are telling you 30+ fps are standing still.....looking at a tree and have obviously not played a real game of BC2.

You need to visit the dell website and request a return via email. It is pretty simple to find on the website. A customer care rep will contact you probubly the next day and be able to set up a replacement. Although you cant contact someone immediately it is the better way to go because the rep who will call you back specializes in returns/replacements and be able to help you efficiently without any on hold phone times.
