Alright here is what I got with BFBC2 under DX9 mode with everything on low (which surprisingly still looked good. I played it on max on my desktop and well I guess the smaller screen hides the lack of detail).

    2010-03-08 21:21:01 - BFBC2Game
    Frames: 7154 - Time: 234462ms - Avg: 30.512 - Min: 8 - Max: 62

Started it right after I stabbed the first dude with the knife, and ended it right after the big battle in the field with the convoy. Seemed very playable. No idea when it dipped down to 8 as I didn't notice it but it must have been a very very short moment. So far I am very impressed with my M11x.

It all comes down to what you expected from the device. A 1000 USD laptop of this size that is not meant to replace your main desktop gaming device but to compliment it and provide you with your gaming needs during college or travel is what I expected and its what I got. :D

I saw that about getting a Dell mini for $150 with the purchase of any notebook, including the M11x. Any chance of getting that tacked on after the fact?

Yeah they should work fine. Only thing I'm worrying about is if it'll fit with the heatspreaders...

Anyone have any facts if hyperx is conpatible?

Meh, I highly doubt they'd give it to you after ordering. If it has yet to ship, then you'd probably be able to cancel and reorder but that's probably not worth the hassle..

Oh man, that Acer 3820TG is so tempting! But it's an acer afterall. But I've demo'd the timeline series and they are built with great quality from what I could tell. No flex or creaks when I played around with it!

    13.3" / 4gb ram / i3/i5/i7 processor/ ATI 5650 / 8 hours battery [with the higher capacity] / under 2 pounds, less than an inch thick.

wonder how cool it will run? If it still runs cool I'm sold.

Said to be around $1000 for the i5!

I cant see the battery life being 8 Hours for a 35 TDP Processor on a laptop thats only 1 inch thick and under 4 pounds. My guess is 1-2 hours of gaming on that laptop, probably 5-6 hours of just idling it windows

    Which is still pretty decent

Wow if acer can sell it that cheap, they will make the Sony vaio Z series look WAY overpriced :)

Well there has already been a review that had the standard battery and with integrated graphics it hit 6 hours. So they expected the high capacity battery to hit 8 hours.

Just wondering, I will be getting my M11x delivered on Wednesday morning, and am wondering about a mouse.
I should have bluetooth already built in, but the question is will the internal bluetooth work with any bluetooth (USB) wireless mouse. I already have a microsoft wireless notebook optical mouse (4000), and I don't know whether I will still need to plug in the usb stick.

    Thanks for any help

Please, Sir, disable Bloom and HBAO. I'm sure this will increase the FPS by 10-20. I've been playing since the beta, configuring the game to work on multiple computers, and I'm telling you. Do it! It even looks better without bloom. Lets see some benches without!

So I dont know if its been brought up but dell is advertising the m11x to overclock to 1.73 (Intel® Core™2 Duo SU7300 1.3GHz (3MB Cache) Overclockable to 1.73GHz [Included in Price]) Who is going to take this up with dell and argue false advertisement.

its too bad the important software like ZCPU is the one showing 1600mhz, If ZCPU is wrong then this is the first time I ever seen it give a wrong reading in the 5 years that ive used it so I tent to beleive it

I think most of the programs that show 1.73ghz are just using the data that windows is giving them, which is wrong

No guarantee's though but im like 80% sure its running at 1.6ghz

Guys, you can check this thread. Theres a lot of screen shots of various programs reporting things. I even got CPU-Z to show 1.73 but can't seem to replicate the steps I took. It was fluxuating between 1.733 and 1.736. Screen shot is in the thread. I guess it's up for everyone to decide oin thier own, but I'm pretty convinced that it's operating at 1.73 and not 1.6. Either way, great laptop.

M11x now advertised at 1.73Ghz OC

by the way i tried a 32 player match with everything I could set at low and it goes between 20 fps and 40 fps, staying under 30fps for the most part. Kinda a bummer but its still definitely playable, I think the problem is when the cpu is trying to calculate what some random guy 5 miles away is doing to the guy in front of him that is bogging the game down.

Not sure how to fix it, but I'm hoping either a higher OC or better optimized patch for bfbc2 will be coming soon.

Can someone please answer this? I want to hook my m11x when I get it to my hdtv but I only have one hdmi port and the sat box is hooked up to it. What can I do to be able to use it without disconnecting it each time? Is there some type of splitter and if so a inexpensive one?

I'd like to just chime in and say I really like the screen.

Sure the thinkpad I have is better somewhat, brighter and matte, but this one is a very close second. It's definitely not return worthy that's for sure. IMHO of course.

I got my M11x last week and I'm loving it. One thing that does concern me though is that the hinge doesn't seem like its going to last very long. I'm thinking after a year or so its going to fall apart. Anyone else feel this way?

I am going to upgrade the hard drive to an SSD. I currently have a SAMSUNG THIN 1.8" uSATA MLC 128GB SSD, but it's not going to work without an adapter, so I was thinking of buying a new one. What do you guys recommend that would be a good fit for this notebook. I was also thinking of upgrading the RAM to 4GB, what do you guys recommend, and any of these item on sale.

BTW THIN 1.8" uSATA MLC 128GB Solid State Drive up for sale, PM me.

oh yeah wanted to mention - I got my replacement custom nameplate after they cut my previous one short. Came about a week after my phone call in a fedex envelope with just the plate and 4 screws. One difference is instead of the bottom line saying somthing like made by Alienware it says Made in Miami, Fl USA. Changed my custom engraving to something shorter hehe. Glad that worked out nicely.

On the order page when it says estimated delivery date, is that the day they expect you to actually get it, or when they plan on shipping it?

I am having this major itch to get a 128 gb SSD now. It's not that I can't afford it, it's more of an issue knowing they are expensive and offer so little space comparitively.

Plus, with all the stuff I have installed now on my M11x, I am pushing 120ish gbs atm.

    Battlefield Bad Company 2 :
This game will most likely run at 40 fps average if you turn off bloom.
Just a heads up for people put off by previous benches. As far as i know, nobody has benched it with bloom off.

    Good point.

iirc, the settings.ini file has to have the following manually changed:

    Bloom=false

This gives major performance gains to lower to medium end gfx/cpu combinations.

Yeah, mine is scheduled to be at my door tomorrow and I am going to check everything at least twice... I am hoping we seem to have this many issues because it was a rush to get a new product out to market as opposed to having a poor QA process or faulty/inferior components.

I have ordered 8 Dell computers over the past 9 years ranging from small units to full on workhorses with no major issues. Their quality control and customer service has always worked for ME to this point and I am hoping my opinion does not change with my new toy.

I will give everyone a full update on Thursday with pictures. Hopefully everything will be flawless since I am not getting one of the first production units (ordered on 2/24).

Ok, it's been here a week, and I do have to add an observation, and sadly I'm in agreement with many of you on the hinge issue...

    8) When closing the screen, I tend to pull the top-right of the screen toward me... the right hand hinge clicks... tick-tick... tick-tick... there doesn't seem to be anything structurally wrong with it, but it just doesn't fill you with confidence.

Other than that I am very happy with this laptop. Happier than I was when my M17x arrived, in fact. I'm just praying I don't have a bad hinge.
