@Nsxrrmaniac - hey have you had any probs w/ the controller and mouse issue I described in my previous post? I connect my PS3 controller and it thinks there is a mouse and a joystick and I cannot even move... It just spins out of control and I can't play it. It's really annoying because I dont want to play with the mouse... I'd rather play w/ the controller

taco - my friend had issues connecting his xbox 360 controller. he said something like the start button was shoot and some other weird issues. So yeah I think there's some controller mapping issues. I don't think he ever figured it out

Check my M11x status yesterday, and it was still in the Production/Build stage. I check today, and see that the status has changed to Shipped with a new EDD of tomorrow! I'm hoping I enjoy this little alien as much as the rest of you! :)

You can get your theme back, but you'll have to use some 3rd party apps to change your log-in screen and stuff. Pretty easy.

The native resolution of my T.V. is 1080i. The current res in NVIDIA control panel is set to 1280 by 720 pixels. I cant seem to find a screen resize option anywhere. Could it possibly be settings on my T.V.? through my T.V. menu all i can find about the display is the aspect ratio but the edges still stay cut off. Thanks again for the help. By the way my T.V. is a 26" Samsung if that makes any difference.

Edit: I just tried it out on My living room T.V. And it worked out fine, Also the option for hdtv resize came up in the control panel but it doesn't come up when i have it connected to the other tv so it must just be my tv that is having problems.

I'm pretty sure I've read that you cant use a controller with BFBC2..
Well, atleast not without a program that can remap the mouse to the controller, etc.

    I need that 40+ frames.

I was still impressed that my non-OC'able M11x with standard GPU clocks and some minor driver tweaks can run BC2 mp at 30-40fps, per FRAPS.

    Kind of blew me away.

Then I played on my desktop with GTX 295 again and I realised how enjoyable the game was on a 24" screen with >100 fps.

Credit to the little m11x though - in such a tiny package with such great battery life.

Only thing I've "tweaked" is running the processor OC'd. Couldn't get 40 fps though. Maybe 40 fps max, but average 20.

What driver tweaks ? Any help would be awesome.

I need a new laptop for September 2010. Do you guys think that I should get the m11x when summer starts (April 2010); or should I wait until September to see if there is any updated to to m11x? Thanks in advance.

My lappie has been with me officially for a month, and I still love it. <3

At this point in time,3 complaints: the fan,the battery (that I've tried disabling charging via Bios but doesn't work) and the keyboard (which loves grease despite the fact that I was my hands so damn often and wipe the keyboard).

But I love it still. <3

tried sf4 online through gobi and was perfectly fine (as long as it's 4bars+) then again, that goes with any sf4 pc game...less than 4 bars for me is too laggy even on a wired connection.

I am running some battery tests now. First one, watching 720p video on IGP, power saver with screen on and 2 bar brightness, WiFi off, lights off, Aero off. It seems it's going to last a little bit more than 5 hrs, but we'll see. Planning to test non-HD video as well in a separate run.

I use a 360 controller. All you need is the correct driver.

And a quick search on Google brought this: http://news.filefront.com/how-to-use-a-ps3-controller-on-a-pc/ for the PS3 crontroller.

The real question is do you need firm for September? Or would October or November be fine? Word is the update will come around October, but that probably means ship dates will be the end of October or November. If you must have the laptop in September you might as well get it now.

Hey just out of curiosity, are these video battery tests off of an external optical drive? Since you are running these kinds of tests, it would be great to see how long one could watch DVDs off of an external dvd drive (using essentially the same settings). If you don't have an external, however, no worries. :p

Well service rep came to fix my fan today, pretty much disassembled my entire laptop in doing so. In the end he replaced the fan and now I don't get a buzzing everytime when i move it, and the fan itself is quieter in general. Problem now is the back of my lid is all scratched up now, and the lcd panel is popping out now. Needless to say theres now another rep coming to fix that as well.

Ah nope, I just finished the test. 5hrs 25mins of watching 720p HD video off the hard drive (which is more than 7 Chuck episodes :D ). This is with screen brightness on 2 bars. I barely use CDs/DVDs anymore. Besides I wouldn't carry an external drive on the road even if I owned one. :) (more weight+less battery...) I think there are some tests online where they actually bench'd with ext. drives. There's 3:48 run of watching 1080p HD quality video on hardwareheaven with GeForce (?) -- I don't know how much that actually makes sense on 11.6" screen, but whatever. And btw, it's pretty pointless to use 335m for watching video on the go, integrated card handles HD vids great + the fan is almost never on.

That said, I wouldn't mind testing it but I don't have an ext. drive. :D

Okay, I had an intel 160gb SSD in this M11x, but realized that it really doesnt need it. I think that the convenience of having a 500GB Hard disk as part of the package, even if its heavier a tad, a little noisier and you feel the centrifical force of the platters spinning when you lift the machine, this is better than rocking an SSD with low capacity and an external hard drive.

Will be selling my SSD on the marketplace soon!

Edit: also, I hardly notice the difference in speed with the m11x, which is the biggest shocker. I noticed it while installing programs but now that everything is set up on the 500gb including all my Media, It's more or less just as snappy. Boot up seems a little bit slower, but not by much, and having to wait 5 extra seconds to have 3x the space just seems smarter.

I think i'll look at SSD's again when 256GB are fast + affordable.

After just recently receiving my M11x, and had a question. Did anyone have Dell's Failsafe Data Backup installed when they got theirs? It seems this Failsafe loads whenever Windows is loaded, and it prevents switching to Nvidia graphics. So I ended up un-installing Failsafe to be able to switch to discrete graphics - was this necessary?

So far, I don't think I can report any issues with mine. It seems solidly built, with none of the reported issues here. I haven't really seen any dead or bright pixels, but is there some method to check for sure? Thanks! :)

Just have a black screen and see if you see any coloured pixels. [Those are stuck pixels and you can fix that yourself usually].

Just have a white screen and see if you see any black pixels. [These are dead pixels and not stuck and you should go call dell]

Thanks Impruv, I'll give that a shot.

So I'm attempting to connect via the Gobi WWAN option. I've inserted my AT&T SIM card (non-iPhone), and it has a data plan. The Mobilink software is saying that the SIM is not found. When I run a diagnostic on it from the Mobilink software, it says "device locked", and to enter a code. I have no idea what the code might be. Anyone have any ideas on how to get this going?

I ordered mine 3/22 when they had the 200 dollar savings, and didn't get the savings, I managed to upgrade to 4gb ram // 250 gb hard drive for 20 bucks ended up paying 908 including tax and shipping US.

Is there any way I can petition this and get further savings?

ALSO! Shoutout to Unreal25 for selling me on the su4100!

Gobi WWAN update - ok, after rebooting it's now seeing my AT&T SIM card, and it's giving me the Ready status and 2 bars are highlighted. However when attempting to connect I get a message saying that "the profile's APN may not be correctly set." Do I need to create a new profile for this to work? It's currently set on the "Accelerated profile (AT&T)".

@ rambler... I use the AT&T accelerated and it works fine for me. Occasionally it gets buggy and I have to reboot, but then it comes back fine. I've decided that the internal WWAN cards are still buggy. I have on in my Precision 6400 and it gets buggy too.

Okay I'm now passing the diagnostic with the AT&T accelerated profile and "AT&T Ready" is displayed. But when I press Connect it attempts to connect but doesn't. It just returns to Ready status with the Connect button enabled again - no error message or such. I've rebooted several times now, and not sure what else to try?

EDIT: I only have 2 bars highlighted - do I need more than that for a connection?

One of the first things I did was Uninstall Data backup, simply because I had no plans of using it. Ever. So I don't know whether it prevents switching. But I have the same switching bug as everyone else -- what I do I put it to sleep then wake up and it's usually fixed without reboot.

So...I checked up on hard drive health with crystal disk info and it went down 1% from 100%. What makes my ssd "health" degrade like that? I start my computer up and then log off to allow it to maintain itself? Or should I be doing something else?

Did you refresh, or restart the program?

First time I started it it said my new HDD had been on for 17000 hours, restarted and it was normal again.

I've actually never seen the health not be 100%, don't know what triggers that.
