Yeah you guys will need to wait for the Verde release since these do not have some of the files needed for Optimus. I would expect as blab8811 said that they will be releasing them within the next week or so (hopefully sooner).

Just in time for the new "ultra camp" map pack 7 and the Vietnam add on. The colors and textures are so amazing on the new maps. I hope the drivers resolve the PB Kick issue. Nice to see you again Nautis! It's been a while sir.
    Best Wishes, StevenX

The 265 seems to have a few new files relating to optimus and there are references to some other files I have never seen before. My guess is that these will contain the PB fix so hopefully we will see verde soon.

I died and it took me a couple of months to respawn. (or at least that is how it felt.)

Man, I am dying for this driver...

Every morning I check these boards like Ralphie running to the mailbox for his secret decoder ring in A Christmas Story.

They said last week or this week. It's Friday. I can't wait for this sucker to come out.

Wish the Vietnam expansion was standalone, as I have BFBC2 on PS3, and not on PC. Ah well, at least some old school CoD4 (PB required) wouldn't go amiss.

Well Nvidia uses a Unified Driver Architecture so all of the drivers are more or less the same. The problem is the missing updatussetup.exe which is usually located in the Optimus.Drivers module folder. AFAIK without this the drivers will not function correctly with Optimus. I don't have Optimus so I cant really experiment but a while back I tired to use updatussetup.exe from another driver on a package that had it missing and it would not work in the past.

    So three options:
1.) Wait until one with the Optimus module is released.
2.) Try to use the Optimus module from another driver. (I can explain how to do this.)
3.) Make the drivers install in a way that ignores the missing updatussetup.exe (may need a previous optimus driver installed first. may not work at all.)

If we can figure out how to get drivers that are missing the updatussetup.exe working using an old version or without it at all then optimus users will be able to use any driver as long as the rest of the optimus files are in the package,

@thx - Dude.. you make me laugh. Just dont stick your tongue to the flagpole. I will say this. It's a huge trip to go from Black Ops to BC2. The colors are so much deeper in BC2. The textures, the depth of feel, everything. It's night and day. It's like Nintendo 64 vs Ps3.

I hope you guys are able to get on soon. Truthfully I don't see many people playing black ops. The server I got is really a waste of money so far.

    Good Luck,

    StevenX

Now don't get your hopes up but...
I was browsing the internet when I came across this:

Optimus issues with Punkbuster - NVIDIA Forums

If you scroll to the last post by "quailpopeye" he posted a "fix" that worked for him.
Can anyone confirm this on the 260.99 or the 260.3 that he used?

If this is already been mentioned before-sorry.
I don't have the time to check through all the past entires ^^

If the 256 driver isn't released by Wed. you should have that Nvidia tech modify the other one in the meantime.

    Lame.

After all the grief Nvidia has put fellow gamers through, I'd post that driver without even thinking twice. I can't imagine there being any real repercussions if you did. Still it's your choice, so I guess I gotta respect that.

I'm guessing he meant to say official Nvidia driver, with the driver he has tested it's kind of a "good luck, hope this works, hopefully there's no negative side effects that turn your m11x into an electronic grenade" lol. I'm hoping the driver comes out tomorrow as well. With any luck Nvidia will also include some increased performance tweaks too and not just the PB fix :D

Pray for rain. I'm praying Nvidia won't release it on December 25 and say it's a Christmas present to Optimus laptop users.

I haven't opened Medal of Honor yet since I want a smooth experience when I play this Christmas break. Still, any guesses which games will see performance improvements?

sorry- in nvidia control panel under program settings for bfbc2 make sure cuda is set to all and multi display/mixed gpu acceleration is set to compatibility performance mode.

I tried it on my "test server" and normally I last 2 minutes on the dot, this time I didn't get kicked and was on for about 10.

I recieved an update today from my NVIDIA escalation contact, I hope it is closer to mid month and not end of the month:

" should have a fix in the up-coming R265 release drivers if all goes well. We understand the root cause and working on implementing the fix. Unfortunately I don't have any firm dates but we are targeting mid-end of this month for the first R265 beta release."

Nvidia will tell 18 different people 19 different answers to keep from being held accountable on exact details. They've changed the date on a PB fix multiple times, and I will be surprised if we see it this year at the rate they've moved.

Ya, it does seem that's all we've been getting lately is it'll be out soons. After a few months of that, people tend to get a little agitated. Especially when we all paid good money for a product that doesn't work as it should.

Personally I don't feel it can come out soon enough. I've been needing to reinstall windows and drivers for a few weeks now, but I haven't because people said it'd be out soon. It's to the point that if my graphics card is on, I can't play WMV files, and it actually makes games run slower. I also had a really annoying problem, where I couldn't whitelist anything.

This is why I laugh when people say Nvidia drivers are better than ATi drivers, Nvidia promises the world and then pushes it back until people give up from frustration. All I know is the whole "Opti-mess" thing is a major fail on Nvidia's part, if they can't get it working correctly soon on a driver, functionality, and performance standpoint they need to implement something to give manual switching back and truly give up.

I'm not mad at Blab8811 at all, in fact I'm pretty sure he/she is just a kid going by their logic of why they won't post the drivers. Or the fact that that they fear some kind of punishment for posting them here gives credence to that inferring as well. So, I'm not mad at the dude, just pointing out that to have working drivers and throw it up in everyone's faces without sharing is a little square.

All good, I saw the forum and link where blabb talked to Manuel and got the driver. I'm going to go complain to that dude as well, see if I can get a copy of Blabb's drivers and then I'll upload a link for all.

Many of us have been waiting since May or earlier for a working PB driver. Knowing that, I have little fear of any kind of punishment from an Nvidia tech for posting a driver that makes technology work that was supposed to work more than half a year ago.

Dunno he may just not want to cost the guy his job. Sometimes people at these companies get as frustrated as we do so they go out of their way for us. There is a lot of red tape behind the scenes that goes into a driver release. Mr G may not have intended for any of this information to be public. He may have just been trying to help someone behind the scenes with their shared frustration at how long it is taking for a release.

Good point. And I agree and concede on that one.

I know you and Kopicha said there's no Optimus options in the Quaddro drivers, but as Blabb noted, the Nvidia tech who rewrote his driver said they were virtually the same. I guess he has access to those Optimus options and was able to put them in there?

I'm starting to agree that Nvidia is becoming too troublesome for another purchase. I have them here in my M11x and in my desktop (2xGTX 275's SLI'd) but I have an ATI 5870m in my Asus G73JH-A1, and I've had ATI in previous desktops. So far in this generation, my 5870m has had regular driver updates and no performance issues.

Nvidia? Cool in my desktop, but the fact that it's taken them over 6 months to fix their new technology that is being Pimped on gamers, I think I'm going to replace my GTX275's with a 6870 or better than a GTX 580 in my desktop.

If they're going to take over 6 months to fix new technology that they're pushing, then that doesn't give me much confidence in them for future upgrades

The only thing missing in these Quadro drivers seems to be the updatussetup.exe. I have tried to take this from another package before and it didn't work due to version incompatibility. There may be ways to force other versions or work without it that I do not know about.

I may need to put a permanent AFAIK in my signature. I know a lot about driver modding and have been doing it for years, I also know a lot about nvidias switchable graphics technology but everything I know is due to reading and a ton of trial and error (more error than trial). So as far as I know there is no way to get these drivers to work without updatussetup.exe and I do not have optimus so I have no way of learning elsewise. I have tried to get it working in the past with the help of some Optimus users but to no avail.

So really your guess is as good as mine as to what Mr G did. I am trying to figure it out though. ;)

Well, Nautis, I have complete faith that either you or Kopicha will figure it out before Nvidia releases the official one. (Going by their past actions)

I just emailed a friend who works at a high position at Intel to see if they had any contacts at Nvidia and see if I can't get some kind of real info/update. I don't have high expectations knowing how big both companies are, but I figured it's worth a shot
