Has anyone noted changes in stability (better/worse)? Curious if any of the misc postings about crashes not easily explainable by drivers is improved with more voltage.

Its why I was trying it - to see if the occasional nvidia fail would be improved.

    for the R2 or R1?
if this is for the R2, there known for having faulty 335m's. and having to downclock just to get things stable, i have heard that some people with the Vmod are able to use stock clocks now, instead of being unstable. its been awhile since iv heard anything tho.

R1 here. I suspect I have borderline GPU memory that in the right combo or sequence of events causes a crash. Not often but it bugs me. So far no diff in driver used. Volt mod was a Hail Mary pass.

ran it for a short while which was "ok" but it reported 2 mystery errors without detail. The report for the GPU test I was doing showed zero errors.

Might try again with CPU oc turned off or with some ram removed.

Hey guys, I'm trying to get my r1 to 9.5 volts. I flashed one of the bios r1 mods posted by ajslay and there were no install problems, I booted just fine (scared to check integrated graphics right now). As soon as my r1 loaded up I checked my GPU voltage, and sure enough it was now reaching .95, but then a couple of minutes later, when I checked the voltage again, it was only reaching a max of .85 volts. Will it sure enough reach .95 when playing a graphically intensive game, or is it stuck at .85 again?

Trying to play BF3, surprisingly smooth, I can get around 25-30 FPS at native resolution, with game booster, overclocked cpu with nvidia system tools installed and Realmware's battlelog standalone program so I can preserve precious RAM from running my browser.

it should only go up in voltage when under load. If you log activity while playing the voltage should be higher

it lowers to .85 volts for power saving clocks. launch a 3d app or game and it will go back up to .95

OK, I tried switching graphics, it switched to integrated graphics fine, but now it won't switch to nvidia graphics. Any help?

    1. Roll back Nvidia/intel drivers to select a reasonably new version
    2. Run THE INTEL Graphics Media Accelerator
    3. Restart
    4. RUN NVIDIA_Optimus
    5. RESTART
5.5 REPLACE CONTENT OF INTEL WITH NEWEST NVIDIA

Switch video to switchable graphics in BIOS
Install official alienware M11x R1 video drivers (263.08, A02) and restart.
Switch to NVIDIA discrete video card via hotkey
Install new 285.65 NVIDIA drivers from NVIDIA site
Restart and switch card to descrete in BIOS. Wait all drivers are installed.
Go to Windows\system32\ and run the following as administrator
    igfxsrvc.exe -install
    igfxtray.exe
    7. Restart and switch card back to switchable in BIOS
    8. When windows starts it will enable Intel GPU, then it will switch it to NVIDIA GPU by itself and start search drivers again.
    9. DONE

You will not be able to switch cards from tray but it will be possible by hotkey Fn+F6

P.S. 285.65 doesn't contains nvBridge.kmd, so there is no need to replace it. But for earlier versions you need to replace it by extracted nvBridge_int.km_ file from A02 drivers. All these actions could be done by alienware dell department by simple setup.

P.S.S. I guess I missed something cause tray icon doesn't show radio button to switch cards.

    This works for me.

(to simplify this compilation of notes i found and gathered from forums.)
Btw if you feel you have too many drivers installed from trial and error uninstall a few in device manager.
also I reccommend the new 301 nvidia drivers cause they came out recently. and now the performance boosts total over 50% better than original.

    1. First Install Hybrid
    2. Install Intel GMA
    3. Then Newest Nvidia
    4. DON'T TOUCH

Enjoy and if you trigger the Binary graphics button just reboot.

I was playing minecraft the other day, and had gpu-z open, but after like 20 min playing it resets and goes back to .85v and the gpu clocks went down. Any fix?

Bumping the thread in hopes of a reupload of the original m11x volt mod files.

    Hi everyone,

I just bought an R2 off eBay and I wanted to try this mod out. Are there any links to the R2 bios? The main link is missing the file.

    Thank you.
