    Here it is guys. SWTOR on the baby alien. I had to lock the Nvidia processor on permanently as had trouble whitelisting, and obviously tweaked some settings (explained in the video). Outside a city center I now get around 70fps.

    Star Wars:The Old Rebublic on the M11X - YouTube

    vutall:

    I would like to gather people's systems and performance issues first, and ill edit this thread to show them. I do request one thing: When sharing your issue, please use the in game FPS counter (Control+Shift+F) and tell me what COLOR it is in addition to the two numbers. The meter will be on the lower left of your screen, right on top your companion portrait. Additionally, please state the zone you are in, and what optimization you have already done. Finally, say in game settings.

    POSSIBLE BUGS:
    1: There have been many reports of the graphic settings not being set correctly. Some people claim that low=high, med=low, high=medium

    2: There have been reports of memory leaks in certain areas, main one noted is the planet taris

    3: There have been reports of GPU's not being utilized correctly. (This is why I need to know your FPS counter color. Green=GPU bottleneck, Red=CPU bottleneck)

    NOTE: I can somewhat confirm this: I loaded up into a heavy populated area on coruscant, was getting roughly in the 14fps range, then loaded into a warzone and fell down to around 8. I had GPU-z monitoring at all times, and the GPU graphics load stayed on average around 40%. Additionally, memory usage never went over 600

    PERFORMANCE ISSUES:
    Report #1:
    System: M11x R1
    Optimization Done: Gamebooster with all options checked (I.E turning off explorer.exe and such)
    In Game Settings: Native Resolution, all options ticked off, all settings low/off
    Zone: Any Warzone
    Issue: single digit FPS
    In Game FPS Counter: Color: Green, Fps 8(5)

    POSSIBLE TWEAKS:
    #1: .ini settings: To find the .ini you go to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\SWTOR\swtor\settings and open client_settings

    NOTE ON INI SETTINGS: You have to make sure to make the ini file read only after you alter it or the changes will disappear when you start up! Also, ensure before you make any tweaks, you make a backup in case the game fails to load

    Some things I have seen just looking at the ini: Texture Antisotropy was set fo 16 even though I had things off, manually typed it in as 1.. Perhaps we could get some people who are comfortable with tweaking the ini to look into stuff? I have seen a few threads across the internet with ini tweaks for higher graphical quality, but nothing yet for lower end users

    Personal INI settings: Here is a list of what my INI looks like:
    Code:
    [Renderer]
    D3DFullScreen = true
    Height = 768
    NativeHeight = 768
    NativeWidth = 1366
    TextureAnisotropy = 1
    Width = 1366
    WindowX = 0
    WindowY = 0
    AllowDepthOfField = false
    doShadows = false
    doBlobShadows = false
    PlantDensity = 0
    SpeedTreeDistanceScale = 0.75
    MeshLODQuality = 0
    EnableBloom = false
    UseMinSpecShaders = true
    TextureQuality = 1

    [Game]
    MoviesFolder = ..\..\Movies
    SwtorRegKey = SOFTWARE\BioWare\Star Wars - The Old Republic
    This is with all ingame settings again clicked off, turned to low/off

    Some other settins people seem to be manually adding into the file (for High quality graphics):

    DynamicLightsLimit = 2
    MeshLODQuality = 1
    FarClipScale = 3.9371195
    VerticalSyncState = true
    GammaRamp = 1.037854
    AntiAliasingLevel = 2
    enableadvenvirolighting = true
    DebugAdvEnviroLighting = true

    I might run a test adding all that in and setting everything to 0/false to see how much that helps.

    Great video, Froogle! I also browsed your homepage and checked out a few others ...the thanksgiving video with the lightsaber is pretty funny lol. You seem to be losing your British accent living in the US :p

    Can't wait to pick up this game next month. Kind of avoiding BETA so I get a better "experience" and feel when it officially releases ;) I guess D3 being pushed back (around March '12) is a good thing, because I'd have no life playing both D3 and SW:TOR in December.

    I can also say that it runs just fine on the R1. Medium Settings with bloom and shadows turned off runs great. Oh and a bonus! During my testing I didn't have the C2D overclocked. Should do a bit better with that turned on.

    I'm having horrible performance on my R1. Turned everything all the way down and it was still choppy. I'm not overclocked (I BSOD) but i haven't had any problem running other games like Rift. Nothing was running in the backround, etc.. I figured the game was just to much for the 1.3 ghz CPU.

    It sounds like you need to whitelist the swtor.exe file. For me, it was located in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars - The Old Republic\betatest\retailclient".

    No whitelisting for the R1 sadly. I think the only option would be a 2GHz pinmod.

    Hey guys! I'm new here and I have a problem.

    Playing the beta client on my m11x R2 and it's destroying my little machine. When in story areas I am fine (50-60 fps), but as soon as I enter populated areas (Imperial Fleet dropped me down to 5 fps average) it just bottoms out, anywhere with more than 3 or 4 players kills me. I asked for help on the SWTOR forums and half of the replies just told me that the m11x is incapable of running this game, but know this to be farse! So any help would be appreciated!

    PS: I have turned EVERYTHING to low settings or off, I disabled windowed mode and have it running on full screen exclusively.

    NOTE: I HAVE double checked optimus and SWTOR IS IN FACT whitelisted.

    Specs:

    M11x R2

    i5 520U (OC'd to 150 mhz)
    GeForce 335m (1 gig)
    4 gigs of ram
    running throttlestop

    I played the bf3 beta no problem, I play WoW with 60+ fps on good settings, and everything in between etc. The only game i've never been able to run was witcher 2 when it first launched. Thanks guys!

    Yeah I do not bother going to gaming forums with my machine issues because they say you should get a desktop blah blah your machine fails. They have a 4 year old machine that sucks in comparison and cry.

    To the post: Just making sure. You have the correct exe whitelisted? There is the swtor and the launcher. I accidentally did so the first time around.

    Run MSI Afterburner while playing, check the gpu usage if its constantly at 99 percent the gpu is the bottleneck not the processor.

    I do not think the gpu will be the bottle neck for this game. Its honestly not that stunning.

    Yeah, I quickly learned my lesson over there. And correct, I have swtor.exe whitelisted, not the launcher. And this is a noob question, but if I don't have MSI Afterburner, is it something that someone with only so-so computer knowledge will be able to set up?

    Well, not sure what was happening before but the game is playing much better now. Even with the CPU at 1.3 it's definitely playable on an R1, at least for the first couple hours of the game I played solo.

    I would love to be able to achieve 2.0 ghz with this machine but I really don't want to void my warranty that has 570+ days left.

    Here ya go!
    You can also overclock the gpu too, I use msi afterburner because it's simple and easy to understand. To use it google it, download and install it. Open it up and you see 3 bars to adjust to your hearts content to overclock the gpu. I recommend 550/1350/875 for best results but it may or may not work for you, if not bring the bars down slowly 5 to 10 MHz at a time and test it. You can test it with the other program that comes with msi afterburner, it's called kombustor. Use the gpu burn in option to test your overclock. If the numbers on the right clock down to 405/324/810 or something similar, you went to far, reboot your cOmputer and try a lower overclock. Hope this helps goodluck!

    The game is playable on R1 ( not in a good shape in term of setup , i use to try at least 20 different drivers without format , i'm sure i'll keep my perf boost by a new install ) , but it's not that great ( at least with my current drivers , the last switchable official )

    But the game , god , is really good.

    Sorry it took so long for me to respond, I've been getting back to college now that the holidays are over for now. I played for a few hours last night, and I do not believe my GPU is the bottleneck. GPU usage hit 99% but only a couple of times during the couple of hours i played, it's average seemed to be running about 60-70%.

    Quick question on another topic. While browsing the SWTOR forums, another player said that he had a similar system to mine and was getting horrible fps and he turned off "EIST" and "C1E" options in his BIOS. So my question is would it be safe to turn those off to see if I get increased performance.

    PS: Those options show up for me in throttlestop, IF it's safe to try turning them off, can I just do it from the TS window instead of the BIOS. Thanks!

    C1E can be on or off but you are usually better off leaving EIST on. It depends what CPU you are using.

    Yeah there's quite some optimization to do on the game yet. I had frame rates in the single digits on my crossfire equipped Desktop at one point.

    It is definitely a CPU bound game, and the biggest performance win I found, as I said in the video, was to turn off shadows and anything to do with them.

    Just a quick FYI guys - the release version has been dramatically optimized. I'll throw up a video later, but from the quick look I just took on my desktop I was getting nearly 100fps with all settings maxxed using Eyefinity (5760x1080). That makes me expect the M11x to easily kick out 40 to 60fps on its little screen.

    i figured it probably would be. They had a lot of stuff running in the background to find bugs and such during the beta which should be removed for release.

    I look forward to your vid froogle =) Thanks for the update!

    This is true, i'm on max settings with bloom/shadows off and i'm getting 40-70 fps.

    This is on an i7 R2 btw.

    Tomorrow i get an i7 R3 (new i7) so i expect that machine to blow it away.

    My internet speed is usually great so I'm pretty sure that wasn't the problem. I did get it to run much better after some tweaking and running game booster though. I think I may have just needed a reboot or something because it basically went from unplayable to playable. It didn't run great but it was still enjoyable, hopefully it doesn't slow down too much when there's more going on like in a raid, etc.. I imagine the final release will run fine on the R1, especially if you're overclocking.

    I was playing it last night and it was pretty smooth. There were a few hiccups but honestly I think it was more latency then anything due to the area I was in being packed with toons.

    Hello all,

    Just wondering if there were any other forum users with an M11x R2 playing Star Wars the Old Republic? Looking to see what kind of performance fellow users are getting, and if there are any tips and/or drivers that are more suited for this game.

    Currently, I have all the settings on low, with Grass and Tree Quality set to 0%. Running the game fullscreen at 1366x768, and my frame rate varies from 20-30 FPS.

    I'm also using the 285.79 Drivers, set the pll on my i5 to 167, and my GPU is overclocked. The settings on the GPU are 600 (Core), 1320 (Shader), and 750 (Memory). Using 4GB of ram given that the game is a 32-Bit client.

    Fantastic game, would love to get it running a little bit more smoothly. Any ideas would be great, and I'm sure appreciated by myself/anyone else looking to play SWTOR on their M11x.

    Got my R3 set up and im struggling to go past 40fps.. PC gaming at its finest tbfh.

    Well dissapointed with my R3 playing this so far this morning i was having 50-100fps with my R2 i get my R3 set it up drivers etc you name it, and i'm struggling to go past 40 fps.

    The Nvidia GPU activtity icon shows it's running the game, so yeah i'm not a happy bunny tbh :(

    I know they are having a memory leak problem so if your frames drop over time restart the client and it will improve for a while. My graphics preset themselves on low and I was getting horrible fps. Setting it to high with bloom/shadows off actually tripled it, so I'm not sure what that's all about.

    Hey everyone. Long time lurker, first time caller.

    I've tried everything I could on my R2, with the exception of Throttlestop and Game Booster, and I only average around 15 (on the Fleet). I can top out at 35...on the Character Select Screen. It looks like at least two other users; Maca0716 & Intangble can run it much better.

    Is there anything else I should be doing? Everything's on Low or disabled, except for Texture Detail, which is set to Medium. (Turning it to Low doesn't seem to help that much.) I've made sure to whitelist the correct .exe, verified that the nVidia GPU is running and updated my drivers.

    If I could provide anymore info, I'd be happy to oblige. I appreciate any help you can toss my way.

    Just started playing the early release. I preordered it and had my invite within an hour. I have an R1 1.3 c2d (can't overclock) with 4gb ram. Everything on high except shadows (off) and bloom (off) at native resolution. It play's fairly well. I average about 20fps in town and it can get a little choppy but I seem to average about 30-40 fps out in the wilderness areas. A couple of times it slowed below 10 fps for seemingly no reason (maybe server lag?). I even saw FPS as high as 100 a couple times. It looks good and is certainly playable. I imagine this game will run fine for any M11x owner, especially for those of you overclocking.

    I too am having some serious performance issues on an i5 R2. Game runs great anywhere in the world, but if I head into the fleet I drop down to 20-25 fps which is fine with me; however as soon as I enter a warzone im down in the 10-15 fps range which simply does not work for pvp gaming :| I'm running all settings on low, fullscreen, my CPU and GPU are both OC'd, I usually close out skype and chrome and I run throttlestop.

    As is, the game is extremely fun but I'm very, very disappointed in my inability to be useful in pvp.

    Edit: Oh ya, I have 8gb of RAM.
    Edit 2: Shadows and Bloom are both turned off, and I have trees/grass set to 0%.

    OK - i kicked my graphics onto high with shadows on low, and playing on 1080p on a 23 inch monitor, i get between 25-50 fps pretty much everywhere except imperial fleet which i get 15-25. I am 40 hours in, level 22 and already did a few flashpoints as well.

    not sure why i could only run on low yesterday!

    Exact same with me, overall very happy with how it plays. Before my server became filled with queues I would relog when the FPS went below 10 and it would be back in the 30 range so I think there might be some memory leaks going on right now. In Coruscant now and it runs well with a lot of people around.

    Just found the minimum specs on Origin: dual core 2.0 ghz or better and a 256 mb graphics card. soooooo it should run great on all revisions.

    Yes it should. With overclocking and my graphics card r2 i5 it should run great.

    but it doesn't. i'm suspecting its a problem with optimus? i've white listed every single SWTOR thing, about 4 of them.

    Sometimes I get 50-70 fps for a few seconds, then drpos to 10-25 for 99% of the time.

    I don't know whats wrong...
    can anyone with good SWTOR say what driver you're using and list all White listed exes? (R2)

    Have you tried playing with the Global settings on the nvidia turned ON? thats how i avoid the white list issue when isolating FPS isseus - if you turn it globally on, and right click > run with high graphics processor, you can ensure the 335m is being used (you can also look on the bottom right and there is an icon that shows you).

    now, because you get 50-70fps, i suspect you are whitelisted just fine. Ever had any heating issues? that sudden TANKING of FPS often signifies a overheating issue.

    I am on an R1 and have no problems anywhere except PVP, where I get in the low teens for FPS. Anyone have any tricks? and this is with gamebooster running with all its options clicked (like turning of explorer.exe for example) as well as everything set to low/off

    seems like this game has some performance issues for everyone :( even m18x's with crossfire 6990m's are having low framerates. I'm betting that its a software issue with the game and that either new drivers from nvidia and AMD or a patch from bioware will fix the issue soon. ;)
